gravity manual?

The only surprising thing to me so far is that the sun visor lights are battery powered, and require battery replacement every two years. What an odd decision.
It’s the same exact thing as the Air. I have literally never replaced those batteries. Service does it at the annuals and I have never thought about it. Imho, it’s a wise decision as a result.

Also, the manual indicates the 3rd row USB-C ports are 45W, while earlier reviews (OOS) have indicated 20W. I wonder which it is?
45W.

The manual answers many questions about how the trailer hitch looks and operates. It's completely invisible/covered when the hitch receiver is not attached. Two big surprises, though:
1) Towing is not currently supported; it requires a future software update
2) The weight limit of the hitch receiver is 110 lbs. Which raises a new question: how can this tow a 6000 lb. trailer?

Maybe they switched tow receivers? Or maybe the manual is just wrong, or maybe they’re not certified yet, who knows

Reminder that manuals are also iterated on - this one says revision 8; mine came with revision 4 🤷‍♂️

I was super bummed to see the weight limit of the hitch receiver. That’s only enough to hold a bike rack + 2 bikes. For example, our Thule Apex XT (4 bike) weighs 40 lbs + each of our bikes (not e-bikes) weighs 30 lbs. The aftermarket hitch on our MS is rated for 300 lbs at the ball and has no problem with the rack + 4 bikes. Was hoping we could put all 4 of our bikes on the GGT as well. Maybe Lucid is hedging and actual capacity is higher?

That’s my guess, or undergoing final testing or something else. Or the manual is just wrong 🤷‍♂️

I’m sure we’ll find out eventually

Surprised to see no exterior button to open the hood.

Is that not the case with most EVs? Neither our Air nor our two Teslas had an exterior frunk button. And I doubt the EQS does, as its underhood area in inaccessible to the owner without a special tool.

Usually, if the EV has a powered front trunk, it should have an external button. Our MXP doesn't have it, but the Cybertruck does.

The frunk is so handy, and so voluminous, it's hard to explain why the trunk should have a button but not the frunk. I'm ignoring common practice - just thinking about what makes sense.

A touch-free frunk release could probably be added via software. You'd just have to do a special dance in front of the car's sensors.

Rivian does.

I would definitely like an exterior button for the frunk. I use the frunk on my Air all the time. Gravity, if anything, has an even more useful frunk, thanks to the ability to use it as a bench for changing into hiking shoes, snow cleats, etc.

It’s the sole reason I continue to carry the fob for my Air.

I am bummed to see that as well.

It would be much nicer if we had a choice of a fixed, stronger hitch, and a weaker removable hitch.

The answer for us will probably be an aftermarket hitch. (Or possibly fire up the welder…)

The manual control is where the ICE hood release is typically located but is covered with a piece of plastic and a screw.
The EQS frunk is absolutely useless from the storage standpoint.
Just a battery and a few hardware components.
On the other hand, jumping the 12 V battery is a lot easier than in the Air.

I'm fine with using the key fob to open the frunk, but found this interesting; three ways to open the frunk and four ways to close it.

From the manual, three options to open the frunk:

Apparently there is a close button on the front edge of the hood.
This isn't the interior hood interior emergency release button, which is located inside the frunk.

So, the close button on the front edge of the hood can be used to close the frunk, but not open it?
This close button must cause the hood to start moving down and then possibly cause the "power auto-cinch" mechanism to pull the hood closed (stated in the "Manually Closing The Hood" section").
Perhaps that close button is on the inside front edge of the hood and therefore inaccessible when the frunk is closed and therefore can't be used to open the frunk.
Kind of like the liftgate button is tucked under the rear lift gate area, near the license plate.

Wanna get in and check it out for us? I recommend bringing a friend, and having them outside the frunk when you do it though... :P

Nah. Key fob will be my constant companion with my Gravity.

Maybe Lucid envisions people frunking so much they pass out in their frunks.
Friend doesn't want them to drive, so cover them with a blanket and close the lid.

Friend: "He'll be fine. He knows about the escape buttton".
