I believe I have read it in this thread: https://lucidowners.com/threads/i-finally-turned-the-hud-off-today.15107/
In this thread (post #163) - a few posts above. Scottsdale Service Center did the work (they get the latest stuff).I believe I have read it in this thread: https://lucidowners.com/threads/i-finally-turned-the-hud-off-today.15107/
I have my vehicle at the service center and asked them to check the HUD display alignment/tilt, while the performed some other service. This is their response and they told me verbally they need to get a test tool and have engineering present while performing the recalibration:
Job: 11 In-Vehicle InfotainmentPay Type: WarrantyConcern: Customer states HUD left side is higher up than the right side. more noticeable during start up on the lucid logo. Reference 238809. Checkand...
I wouldn’t! We’ve already paid for it and hasn’t worked properly from day 1. Lucid can eat the costs on anything that is required to fix the HUD.Hopefully, just like the CCCv2 upgrade for Airs, Lucid is working on a drop-in replacement for the HUD. I'll gladly pay up to $1000 for this option.
Agree, it’s still not great but 3.6.0 did at least do some minor improvements. The tilting the head thing is frustrating because no matter where I position it the only way to see sharply focused text is to tilt my head slightly forward. This seems to be a common issue with many also.I tried the HUD early in my Gravity journey, hated it, turned it off almost immediately, and didn't think much about it for a while. Over the last week or so though, I have tried to give it another chance. I still think it kind pretty much sucks, but I think I had a bit of a revelation about it.
Some combination of the windshield and the lenses or cover of the HUD unit make it impossible for me to see a clear image that is not "doubled" somehow unless the image is adjusted to as high as it can go - at least on my car and at my ride height and position. Even then, I have to have my head in the right position (sitting up nice and tall) so that the reflection is higher up on the windshield where it is less curvy. Lower down, I can see the image clearly if I close one eye or the other, but my eyes simply won't combine them into a single clear image with both open. I see double. When the image is placed where I can see the speed clearly, then the triangle blind spot indicators are quite faint, so even when "properly" placed I have some issues.
Given that I can fix it by moving my head and the image settings around, the windshield is at least part of the problem, but there may also be some misalignment with the projector or its lenses that are contributing to the problem. So whether this is a design flaw or a manufacturing one, I don't know.
Or maybe there is something wrong with my eyes, who knows, I can't be 1000% sure, but it sure seems odd that I can focus if it's in the right place but see double in other places.
Overall, I just don't see how this is salvageable at all. I'm close to turning it back off.
BTW, to at least be able to play with it or experiment or have it on sometimes but not others, they really should make it so you can turn it on while driving.
