Gravity Delivery Appointment Cancelled by Lucid

The order status for our second Gravity Dream Edition changed today to "In Production" with a VIN assigned: Abyss Black / Yosemite / 22-23" wheels.

If this means that they have now addressed the hardware issues that are plaguing the Gravity DE we received on June 30, then GREAT NEWS!

If it means they are just pushing another round of cars out to door to make end-of-quarter numbers (note the delivery of our problem-ridden Gravity was on the last day of Q2), then fie on them, and they can just keep it.

Prior to this, did you see any movement on your order status such as the "asset" phase or did your SA call?
And I hope your first supposition is correct.

I've only had a brief text exchange with my SA over the past few weeks when I asked for an order status update. He said that our car was in queue to enter production around the third week of September.

That's why I'm a bit suspicious / worried that Lucid may be speeding things up to hit some Q3 numbers target.

I'm not going to make the same mistake I did with the first Gravity of having it PPF-wrapped and a radar detector installed before putting it on the road. If the next car arrives with the problems of the first one, Lucid will have it back on their hands one way or the other. In fact, I'm thinking of taking a cashier's check instead of wiring the payment ahead and refusing to sign the delivery paperwork and deliver the check if they don't let me test drive the car first.

Given all the problems plaguing your Gravity Dream, I totally understand.
Did Lucid give us some kind of a PDI report upon delivery? I don't remember.
I know we've had these with ICE cars.

I didn't get one.

You will see no status change with a pre vin or asset or whatever they call it. When it’s in production, you’ll see the change, then preparing for delivery…

Given the number of folks reporting “in production” this week, I fear they’re just rushing for Q3…

We’ve heard zero about real fixes for the fob, random warnings, etc and no OTAs. So I, too, fear it’s just a Q3 push that will exacerbate existing issues. Our second GGT went to “in production” last week, but we will likely defer until Q4 as our existing GGT already has a date with the service center in two weeks.

We've heard some: there's indication that they're not delivering any Gravities without an inspection to ensure the center console wiring is correct.

Interesting, but my fob and wiring worked great at delivery and failed 10 days in. I feel like most folks had their fob working at delivery and then it failed. So not sure PDI can help unless they’re replacing the units with a fix…

For me, car was great for 10 days then the window issue, then the suspension issue. Just super odd. But could also be unlucky…

That’s not quite true. We have heard of the center console security node wiring issue re: fobs, and it’s entirely possible they have fixed this and that’s why they briefly paused deliveries.

We’ve had at least one OTA, to address some of the more major issues earlier.

There hasn’t been an announcement, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t fixed it; we simply don’t know yet.

The issue is that when inserting the center console, the wiring can get pinched; this would mean precisely that it would fail over time, as the movement of the center console would wear away at the connection over time. So they don’t need to replace the center console, they just need to ensure the wiring harness is properly placed so it doesn’t get pinched.

Yeah lots of conjecture, I’m not too worried. Obviously they want to make sure the vehicles are delivered in a condition where problems they can fix in production are fixed, everyone should be happy they paused briefly for whatever the issue was. If problems reveal themselves after delivery, yes that’s unfortunate and you’ll probably see me on here later with some issue after I get my Gravity, but I don’t expect the factory to tell every customer every little hiccup that may have happened in the build process.

Understood, but I wasn’t notified of any issue and it wasn’t fixed in my car - so how will they address it on delivered Gravity? Sounds like they’re replacing center consoles for those…

@Ironhorse

Lucky you. I haven’t heard any concrete info from my SA or Lucid…really disappointed with how things are being handled.

If I were you I d not rejoice yet until you have an actual delivery date. I was told I d get delivery by end of August. Now….crickets…!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I’m cautiously optimistic.

LucidFlys’ last video showed so many gravity models in black. Someone somewhere in the US is getting those delivered. Hoping mine is in that lot.

🤞
