Gravity deep dive for EU launch w/ Design + Eng SVPs

I didn't see this get posted on here yet. The video features overviews of the car as it's launching in the EU in their Munich studio, but other than a few tidbits it's mostly high-level marketing which feels like a missed opportunity.

That said, some things I learned along the way:

• Apparently there's a camp mode (unreleased, I think?) that'll allow you to control media + controls from the second row
• The console cover is glass, not plastic
• The unwind massage (the vibrating one) is modeled after sports massages
• Navigating to DC fast chargers on the nav will auto-precondition the battery

I don't mean to harsh anyone's mellow, but vibrating massages are terrible! I don't know why anyone would prefer the vibrating massage modes to the ones that are rolling/kneading. If you disagree with me, it's because you're wrong.

It's funny how different @TribbleTrouble and I are. I love the vibrating ones; specifically Unwind, followed by Deep.

If her seat vibrates, however, her skin crawls.

I'd love to see them expand in Europe, but Ireland? As someone who is related to half the country and have made close to a dozen trips there, many roads are so narrow they'd need to have certified repair shops in every town!! . I never dare drive there without the CDW on my rentals.

Oh I know! I was there in January, wife’s grandparents were from there. We may move there although it’s a long shot but will see as my wife is applying for a passport which will also mean an EU passport, or maybe retire there. You need a car there with cameras and alerts to avoid the no shoulder stone walls and obstacles so that’s why I’d actually be happy with a Lucid there. I drove an Audi A6 when I was there and did scrape the front bumper barely on a too-close wall in Galway. And hilariously even though I got the insurance the rental car company didn’t care and didn’t charge me.

I found that the rental companies are actually surprised when you return the car WITHOUT damage.
I'm the product of a mixed marriage - my mom was from Galway, my dad from Kerry. I've got a cousin who moved back to the family farm in Kerry when she retired as a nurse in the U.S. At times I'm jealous of her lifestyle, but there are times you can go weeks with only getting a peek at the sun. But when the weather is nice, it's glorious. I was back there in July & just got my Irish passport. I hope to give it lots of use

A good friend from college moved to Cork and has a blueberry farm there. It’s funny it was on and off raining the whole time we stayed in Connemara and Galway, and they had a huge hurricane the day before we left too so flights were cancelled and I didn’t mind any of it. Like half the country lost power and the football stadium on the way to the Shannon airport was totally blown away, and the country handled all of it so maturely and within 2 days it seemed like everything was back to normal. The only annoying bit was going to the Cliffs of Moher earlier that week in January not realizing very few things are open there in January, so we were quite hungry and finally found a pub that took pity on us cuz we had a kid and the bartender made us some ham sandwiches even though they didn’t usually serve food.

Putting aside the aggravating & sometimes frightening aspects of driving there, the people can't be beat. They are the kindest, most welcoming people you could ever meet (even the few I wasn't related to )

Funny I lived in NYC for 19 years, perhaps with your family lineage you might know Swift Hibernian lounge on East 4th street? There’s a lot of TJ McFiddleFuck Irish pubs in NY but I loved Swift because it was the opposite of that stereotype. I think half the staff there is from Cork. If you tried to sing Danny Boy you’d be shown the door, violently. And yep totally agree about the people in both regions.

I'm not familiar with the Swift Hibernian lounge as its probably one of the few Irish bars in NY I didn't leave a paycheck at. No surprise that most of the staff was from Cork. If you'd walked in & said "green card" you'd probably get whiplash from the crowd bolting out the door Swift couldn't have been too far from McSorley's. Where did you live in NY? - Down that way in/near the Village?

Yeah I moved to Providence RI for similar reasons, loved the city but it grew too expensive and too much of a pain in the ass to do things. You sure moved around, didn't you ? Did you keep running away from your prior landlord ??? Where did you live in Clinton Hill? I lived on Washington Ave between Dekalb & Willoughby from '86-'96. Loved it, but at the time my (now) ex was an assistant DA in Brooklyn, and prosecuted auto crimes. During 1 stretch I had 3 cars stolen in less than 5 months. Her boss claimed I was only trying to ensure she had a job That was the 88 precinct which she knew all about, but not for a good reason But we lived in an 1860s brownstone that still had original marble mantelpieces, plaster moldings on the ceiling and a rooftop deck with a $100,000,000 view of downtown Manhattan that was just a perfect place to enjoy a good cigar & a healthy drop of brandy. Of course this was pre-9/11. It would have been a horrible view after that. I loved living there, but I just couldn't deal with the stress of keeping two toddlers from getting hit by a car or mugged or worse. But i still remember it fondly.

Funny yeah I was on Willoughby between Classon Ave and Taafe place when I was in Clinton Hill. I lived there during 2 years of my post bacc and first year of med school, then I moved back to the upper east side to be close to med school. That apartment in Clinton Hill was amazing, 3br with 2 bathrooms, office and balcony in an elevator building for like $1,800 a month. Crime had gone way down by the time I lived there, funny enough the only time I got mugged it was on 6th ave and 27th street in broad daylight on a Saturday in June 2001 around the corner from my old job. They caught the kids right away, it was part of a gang initiation, I had to identify them at the precinct and the one kid was crying, his mom showed up and tore him apart, total losers haha. Guess when I was supposed to appear in court about it? September 12th 2001! Of course I never heard about the case again…

Found time to watch the whole video today. It's a shame they missed the opportunity to directly question Lucid executives about why the Gravity launch is repeating the Air's early quality problems.
