So last night was the first deep freeze for us (as far as the south calls deep Anyway) where temps were in the low 20s overnight and my Gravity sat out in the driveway in it. The dynamic range is indicatin, on the cold battery, that it thinks the car will get about 300 miles or so range off a full charge (I'm at about 50% charge currently) after driving around a bit this morning. The dynamic range has been pretty spot on so far, so I'm not doubting it. The efficiency dropped (due to the cold I gather) from about 2.9 to 2.5 in the cold. I have the 386 mile EPA for my Gravity and this is about what I was hoping for with cold driving range. I'd be perfectly happy with 300 miles in the cold frosty winter as our other EVS,like the EV9, would drop to about 200 miles (down from about 270) about this time on a full charge. So we can still do better in the Gravity on winter trips than the other could even at best. I'm very happy with my range, even if I'm not seeing that 386 miles at about any point. I've been averaging 340-360 in the summer. We shall see how it continues to handle the cold, and how even colder temps can affect it as the season goes on.

You're very easy to please 😂 😂

So why bother responding like this? Some people need to remember how to actually have a conversation and if they don't like something, just shut up and keep it moving. Bc posts like this reveal nothing but your ignorance. So please just scroll on next time if you have nothing of value to add to the conversations here.

10/4 Sir! My post was meant to highlight your realistic opinion compares to people who usually complain about everything, but you really went south there. Anyway, you will not see me reply to anything coming from you again.

The cold weather drop is two fold.

First there is a set number of kw-hrs to warm the car, this will greatly impact short trips where the fixed energy is spread over a few miles.

There is also a much lower steady kw draw needed to maintain interior temperature. This is used on all driving in cold weather.

As the temperature drops, I'll be very interested to see how quickly the Gravity can pre-warm itself. It will be common for me to have the Gravity sitting outside overnight in below-freezing temperatures, and I'll want to drive somewhere when the morning air temp has warmed to 32° F, but the mass of the car will still likely be below freezing.

I gave it about 10 mins before getting in and it was 22 degrees out and the car was frozen over quite a bit but it was warm inside and the frost on the windshield was heated up enough (along with the heated wipers) to wipe away the frost pretty quickly. I was very pleased with it all this morning!

It just came across as a mean post and if that was not your intention, then you have my apologies. I was trying to put up what I thought was a helpful post for anyone interested and your post came across for me like a bit of a slap in the face and I guess I missed the humor it was supposed to convey.

I was a bit surprised by your initial reaction/post to the member.

Tone is sometimes misinterpreted with text.

Glad you apologized and are decent enough to admit fault.

since I go up to Tahoe several times in the snowboarding season, I'll be following this thread. 🏂

I'm curious on how these door handles are going to be after a freezing rain, whether they will get stuck or not. not a fan of these flush designs. but I haven't seen any discussion on the Air side so one can hope it'll be fine. ;)

I’d like to bump this thread a bit now that it’s a bit colder.

My drive around town, day to day, dynamic range was about 2.85kWh without trying in August, September, October. Not much crazy driving, etc.

With temps below 50 at night and starting with a colder battery, I am now 2.65 kWh. I definitely precondition more now and I know that’s got a big impact.

Curious to see what range is when whether gets colder.

What do you mean by this? I got my Lucid this summer and it’s my first ev. Are you saying you precondition more when charging? Or before you drive?

And which precondition? That term usually refers to the battery temp but some use it to refer to cabin temp as well (i.e. remote start).

Sorry for being unclear. I heat the car before I get in. So I turn on heat and heat front seat and wheel (which sometimes works). I didn’t do that as much in summer.

I probably do it 10 minutes before I get in. It’s not super cold though - it’s probably 40-45 degrees outside when I do it.

One of my favorite parts of EV ownership is pre-cooling or pre-heating car.

I want you to know that I was planning to set alarms to precondition my battery every time before I leave the house

Since it got colder here, I've been really getting consistently high 2.7-2.8 kWh with my daily drive. About 260 miles dynamic range in the DE. I have a couple day trips in the next month, will be curious to see where those land.

Adding data with a back and forth trip, feel free to average.

The since charge is tainted by 0-60 testing so ignore that.

For some context, how much of that was 70+ driving and what tires and 5 or 7 seats?

I was doing 7+ on the speed limit so average speed was probably towards low 60s, 7 seater on custom 22s and an inefficient performance all season tire
