Gravity Bugs / Issues

Yes, having had mine since June 26th, the software and features have definitely improved. For a reference point, the first several weeks I had my car until the first software update involved switching to guest profile then back to my own profile EVERY time I got in the car otherwise the data/SiriusXM didn't work. At least they squashed that bug quickly. My software at the moment is livable (with the biggest issue being the few seconds of black screen when I sometimes enter the vehicle)...No current dealbreakers though I do have stupid little software annoyances like occasionally the music song/artist next to the speedometer will disappear...but most of the issues people complain about on here don't affect me. I've never really had any significant key issues even from day 1.

All that being said, I think a lot of the issues people are experiencing on here may stem from differences/more complex use issues: For instance, I only have 1 driver of my car (myself) so there are no profile switches/bluetooth pairing fights with other phones. I also do not use most of the "entry/exit" features that most on here seem to use (proximity key, seat moving back for entry/exit, etc). That may have contributed to my better experience overall.
Agree. I’ve had mine since August and software has definitely improved. Homelink had broader issues. Music had issues. There was no Halo and now it’s there in beta form. Fob has gotten 1,000% better though there are issues still for some/many. Black screens have come (and largely gone for some/many), etc.

For anyone who has or will have a Gravity, I think you’ll appreciate the bug squashing focus versus new features with new bugs (though we have gotten new bugs at times - like hurricane AC mode).

My point is - I have no doubt that their Gravity/3.0 SW folks are 100% engaged and have been. I also believe they triaged resources to address fob issues. Yes, I know that’s not how dev works, but it IS possible for certain sprints, etc to triage depending on how their teams are set up.

Just to add to the chorus in case Lucid ever looks here, this is happening to ours too...very annoying

Also experiencing the offline issue and the bad BT phone call issues

How often do they send updates?
We have had it for a week now, I know with our Tesla's the first update was sometimes delayed for 3 or 4 weeks after getting the vehicle, is it the same with Lucid?

Thanks
Congrats on taking delivery of your Gravity! If it was delivered with v3.3.9 installed, that's the latest. I believe mine updated to 3.3.9 in early November, so it's been between three weeks and a month since the last update.

I took delivery of my Gravity DE in late-July, and have received three software updates between then and now. The last one, crucially, fixed an egregious key fob issue, so with the exception of the persistent 'vehicle offline' issue I'm experiencing, the software has been OK.

We are having more frequent alerts about Sensors Blocked, High Beam Assist Unavailable, Dream Drive Assist Unavailable, etc. It's hard to know if these are ghost alerts or actual problems because we aren't in a position to see if they are real; we rarely drive outside of DC at night to know if HBA isn't working, and our left pad doesn't work so we can't use DDP even if we wanted to. Yesterday I noticed that the speed was not registering when the Sensors Blocked alert appeared, along with the HBA unavailable and it stayed that way for the whole 20 minute drive. We also can't do a reboot to see if that removes the alerts. When we need them, will they be unavailable when the alerts appear? And if so, what is the problem and the fix that is needed?

That's a very valid concern. I keep reading to ignore the (false) alerts. But how would you know if any of them is actually real? Just waiting to see if it doesn't go away?

That’s a safety issue

Agreed. This could become a “Boy who cried wolf” situation. We condition ourselves to ignore these warnings but eventually a warning of something serious occurs that we ignore and then something serious actually goes wrong. Lucid afterward says “you should have paid attention to the warning and contacted us for service” but how were we to know this was the one warning that actually indicated a true mechanical fault.

it shouldn't be up to the user to determine if the car is lying or not. Very frustrating.

We are having seasonal dense foggy weather here and I get these alerts every few minutes, they come and go all the time, less so when visibility is good, more so when visibility is limited.
While alert is active, the related feature is disabled, so in that sense alerts are indeed real.
While I don't enjoy this situation at all, I can still drive the car reasonably safe and realize that it's not currently fixable by Lucid even if I drop it off at a SC, so what options do I have other than accept it as is for now and wait for an ultimate fix in the future, either via OTA or some hardware module(s) replacement?

My car seems to be getting worse with time. I'm on 3.3.9 and latest fob firmware, and have been since they came out.

Key/doors/entry/start is the most frustrating and annoying issue. It impacts vehicle entry and start.
  • My passenger rear handle is permanently out/presented. It never goes back in. It's been like this since about 2 weeks after taking ownership.
  • My passenger front handle is very inconsistent. Sometimes it doesn't present when it appears the car is otherwise unlocked/unlocking (though it's hard to tell, because the rear handle is always presented so it's not a good reference, and I can't see the other side of the car to know if the other side's handles are presenting. But the mirror is folding out and lights are coming on, so I am presuming it's unlocked/unlocking). The other day I had a really weird episode where the mirror folded out but the handle didn't present. So I pushed it trying to get it to wake up. When I did that, the mirror started to fold in, then when I released my "push" it started folding back out. I did this like 10 times, I felt like I was a DJ scratching records or something. Bizarro. Sometimes it presents but then won't open the door. I try soft pulls, patient pulls, hard pulls, nothing. Usually I can eventually get it to work but sometimes I have to take the key fob out and press unlock. It does seem to like to be pulled out dead center. Off center pulls, even hard ones, sometimes don't work. But the behavior is so inconsistent, both in terms of when it happens as well as when it happens how repeatable it is, that it's hard to determine any patterns. But it's really frustrating because it's the side my wife is usually getting into, and grumbling about, knowing what I spent on the car and what it costs to insure it.
  • Even when "working," that front passenger door seems stickier and harder to open than the rest of the doors.
  • My key fob behavior on approaching the vehicle is unpredictable to the point of I don't really know what it's supposed to do or not. Sometimes the vehicle wakes up when I approach, sometimes not. If I go straight to a rear door to put something in, often the handles won't present until I stand more clearly for a second next to the driver door. Or maybe it's just taking an extra beat, who knows? Pushing the lock and unlock buttons often has a delay associated with any visible action. Sometimes immediately the mirrors fold and handles retract, sometimes it can take 2-3 seconds, during which time I am worried that something is wrong, or I need to push the button again.
  • I'm still getting "Key not detected" errors. Every 2-3 days I have to use the card to start the car. Fortunately that has always worked. Shake-to-wake continues to have a 0.0% success rate for me.
  • Key fob battery wore out in about a month. All issues listed above are present even with new battery, so I can't blame that. Even if I could though, low battery charge causing issues within 3 weeks of ownership would still be a bug/issue IMO.
I'm reminded of the end of the Savage Geese video when the one guy says (something along the lines of) he wouldn't feel comfortable turning the car over to his partner to drive because it just requires too many moments of what-is-the-car-going-to-do.

Now I'm a little stuck trying to figure out when enough is enough and it's time to schedule service. My SC is a LONG way from home and it's a pain to get it penciled in.

Your door handles definitely need service, fwiw.

And to build on my post above - there are other things that seem to be getting worse beyond entry/keys/startup:
  • My seat now fails to return to its profiled position about 75% of the time now. Seems worse than before when it was more like 25%.
  • I'm getting more black screens than before. That basically never happened for my first 3 weeks of ownership, but has happened 3-4 times in the last couple of days.
  • I had a weird one the other day: The car never established any internet connection and all kinds of things acted strangely. Navigation obviously wouldn't work. I could look up some destinations but it seemed to be working from a partial data set. The maps just showed without much detail. Oddly, although bluetooth worked, I had no volume control. I finally did a soft reset and it worked. But it was annoying to have to pull over. Go figure someone was following me that day so another odd explanation moment.
  • Sensors blocked/high beam functionality errors all the time.
  • Airbag sensors don't seem to like my passenger shifting in the front seat. She moves, and the airbags turn off and then on again.
  • In the app, when I turn on the climate, it almost always says it failed. Usually it hasn't, but the error is there anyways.

I'd send it in for service. At a minimum they should be able to fix the left pad, and it's reasonable to tell them that you're concerned about the vehicle being safe to drive given all the other glitches.

Curious which sensors are involved here, is it the (Robosense) LiDAR? I've never gotten fog related problems with non-LiDAR, radar and camera based cars.

Just picked up my GGT after its fourth time in service. A couple other issues were fixed but one of the reasons it went in was DDPro was not working again. It would take 2-8 clicks to engage and 2-11 clicks to disengage (or never until I hit the brake). The SC replaced my steering wheel for the third time but I thought I’d also report what the SC stated in the work order. “The concern is a software anomaly. As of this moment, the software remedy will not be available until January, tentatively, and there is no version level to provide.”

So not sure if that means no December update. Or, yes a December update and the DD fix isn’t until two updates from now.

I may be able to add some insight to the "sensors blocked" and resulting "High beam assist unavailable". I've had this happen to me a few times now and it seems to be caused by bright car headlights (either oncoming traffic or behind me--including at stoplights)...also if there's any fog on the window or outside (or if the window is dirty), that seems to exacerbate the issue. The alert seems to resolve within about a minute of the offending headlights no longer shining into the cameras. All that being said, I think the car is actually functioning correctly as intended in this situation.

I receive the sensor blocked warning when I leave my car outside at night. I pull very close to the garage, which is made of rusted steel. The headlights are on, shining on the garage, and the warning pops up. I also get the warning when I enter the car at night at the same spot. The warning disappears very quickly, and if it doesn’t, it goes away when I back out.

The SC replaced my steering wheel for the third time
Did it make any difference compared to the previous steering wheel, despite their reference to software anomaly?
Some people here reported initial improvement after replacement, but then gradual loss of responsiveness over time.

Two items, one month after a Lucid remote service and fob battery replacement a second service call revealed fob battery at 2.9 volt and advised another battery replacement. I keep my fob in a faraday pouch when not in use.
Second I had the unpleasant experience of leaving a key card with a valet and having to return to give them the fob. Neither of my two key cards will start the car. Both lock/unlock the car at the pillar. Service is scheduled.

@jered My car is going to Natick SC sometime this week. I have stopped calling them - they are flooded with issues they have to fix.

My issues summary

1. Post FDU motor recalibration (there is no meaningful sprint or swift mode).
2. Whistling sound from the front dash
3. NFC console third replacement.
4. Air vent covers / whatever those are under the front seats come loose all the time.
5. Right front passenger door keeps opening and closing all the time.
6. New issue : the rear wiper fluid thing doesn't work - or works sporadically.

Loaner Gravity is available so hopefully will be able to drive it back and forth.

That's interesting. I believe another recent comment from a different owner said that their service center expected a revised steering wheel assembly would be available around the end of the year. So it seems some are being told to wait for a software fix, and some are being told to wait for a hardware fix.
