There’s more to it than that. I was one of the first cases of unresponsive DD buttons at the San Jose service center. Some cars really have issues with the DD control buttons and it’s not a matter of doing it “right” or not.

I was lucky that San Jose had a Gravity loaner for me to use while my car was in service so I drove my Gravity and the loaner back to back on the highway. The loaner’s buttons worked every time. Mine worked very sporadically. Sometimes requiring five or more presses.

Service confirmed my issue and replaced my whole steering wheel. It has since been much more responsive than it originally was. So your experience is different than others. Some people really have defective buttons/wheels in their cars.

How long did they take to replace the wheel? I have a feeling I'm running into that myself next week

One time we just sat in the car for 10 minutes and it wouldn't switch on, then we went and got the key card and it worked, strangely the key worked again for the rest of the day but stopped again today morning

I have this issue - really, the car often has trouble waking up. On the drive home from the dealer, I stopped for 5 minutes, got back in the car, and it wouldn't wake up fully, at all. Nothing on the displays, but the car would drive. So, I started driving with no instruments and they came up in about 30 seconds. So it all works, eventually.

Yes, you and almost everyone else has this issue. The black screens are very, very common. Fortunately for me they are more in the 5-10 second variety but sometimes they will be more in the 30+ second variety.

Yes I have that sound too, every time the fan speed is > 3. My car is in for a couple of issues on 12/9 and it is on the list. I'll let you know if they have a solution

I’ve had this same condition many times. The car will wake from a deep sleep ok, but a short 5 minute stop and then it doesn’t fully wake up. I’m starting to think I need to do a soft-reboot every time I drive it.

I have noticed this whistling when the driver side is on Auto. Of course, it isn't on Auto when the car starts (but the passenger side is) and it takes multiple steps to get Auto on. But when it does, I notice the whistling. Will have service look at it when its in for steering pad replacement next month.
 
Honestly after owning the car for a couple of months (but only actually riding it for 20 days, its been int he shop for the rest), I still have NO idea how the climate thing works. The passenger auto / overall auto .. just a cluster fuck UI setup that never really works.

anyhow. Hopefully the car will be back in next week and they will look at it.

Having similar issues with my HVAC on week old GGT. The problem is that I am 90% sure that it is software related and will not be corrected until Lucid figures out how to write decent code to fix it (without crashing some other system). And that is the problem with these modern software defined cars. In the old days of my ICE cars, if I started having issues with my HVAC, it was most likely caused by a mechanical part braking or acting up. I would then schedule a service appointment and they would replace the offending part and all good. Yes there was some software controlling the HVAC but that system had been nailed down and working great before ever entering production and that programming was on a separate chip by itself. No, it could not be updated via OTAs but going forward, any issues with HVAC after ownership were most likely caused by mechanical issues.

And this thinking gets me going down another rabbit hole. With all of the various false error warnings, we are being conditioned to ignore them. The problem is, that one of these messages might be legit and something I should contact the SC about.

3 short stops today running errands (less than 3 minutes). Got 3 blank screens, 2 arctic blasts, and 2 no seat/steering wheel movement (had to use restore). This is after I started the drive with a soft-reboot due to rear steering error when I pulled out of garage. It’s like the car has Alzheimer’s, it’s got no short-term memory. Waking from the short stops are worse than waking from the deep sleeps. The car is great to drive, but the next software update can’t come fast enough. Also, still missing my Tow Mode.

Maybe Lucid needs to implement a BRB feature to temporarily alleviate this for all, apparently going to sleep/waking up is quite heavy and needs more optimizations lol

Mine is similar to what you describe....5-10 seconds or so. I know I'm good to go when I see the speed limit sign displayed. It seems no two startup sequences are alike though, which really makes me wonder what in the heck is going on with this car's tech stack?

A "blend door" is a flap on an actuator. It opens and closes different air passages inside the dash to move the air output, and adjust the temperature. When people are getting blasted in the face on startup, I'm guessing the blend doors are stuck. The car is trying to distribute the air, but the doors are stuck so its just blasting full chooch out one vent. In your case, its partially stuck, and whistling.

Blend doors are a common part of cars, a well understood basic technology...yet Lucid seems to have really screwed the pooch on the Gravity. I can't think of what else could be causing all these problems. Sadly, the fix is the rip the entire dash out and replace the blend doors. I've done it on my Escalade and it SUCKS.

here's an example, Lucid calls them "servo door motor actuators", but they do the same thing. Its a gear driven servo that connects to a flap:

I have two different garages configured in Homelink, and when I set the custom button to homelink it just brings up the two garage buttons that already appear fairly reliably with geofencing, but does not actually open the garage door... so not helpful. Same. The button only opens the garage door if one door/location has been added. If you add another, the programmable button press only presents the two door options on the Pilot Panel, after which you must take your hand off the wheel and tap the appropriate one for it to open. I, too, have two properties but initially only programmed the door for my primary residence. Used the programmable steering wheel button. Worked reliably until I visited my other property and programmed that garage door too. I’d assumed the software would be smart enough to distinguish between locations (geofence?) and upon button press would activate the correct door, but sadly, no. You’d think that’s how it would work — or at the very least, the button press would display both locations and allow me to use the steering wheel mounted touch pad to swipe to the one I want, then click to select 🤷🏻‍♂️ Hopefully they’re working on this issue.

Hard to isolate since it was in for other things but I think from the diagnosis of the wheel issue to replacement was about a working week. Might be shorter if it's now an identified common issue. I think mine was the first that was reportef ro the issue.

I mean, my Homelink menu shows the garage door for our other house several hundred miles away every time.
