Gravity Bugs / Issues

I don’t know if this is a bug or an actual service issue, but this “Drive System Needs Service” alert has been persistent all day during my 200 mile drive. I seem to get other alerts mostly after charging to 100% for a long drive. In any case, I scheduled a service visit in a couple of days. The alert pops up as soon as I put it into drive.

I’m at our vacation home and charged to 80% on my Tesla Gen-1 wall connector at 72A (17kW). 80A didn’t work, so this Gen-1 charger is better than the Gen-2 that can only charge at 48A.

Still getting alert after charging. Obviously, I have tried several steering wheel reboots (long/short).View attachment 34169View attachment 34170
Haven't seen this one among the random alerts.

Yesterday dispositively showed that the problem we're having with all our Lucids repeatedly pausing music does emanate from having more than one of them on the road at the same time and not from cell signal dropouts, streaming from the same source simultatneously, etc.

My partner drove one Gravity to a tennis match. While he was playing, I drove the other one to a doctor appointment. Neither one of us had any music pauses on the way to our destinations.

When I got back in the Gravity to drive home from the doctor, the music began pausing every few seconds even before I was out of the parking lot. I drove about a mile and stopped at a convenience store to grab a soda. I called my partner from there to ask if he was on the road. He said he was just pulling into our driveway (18 miles away). Sure enough, when I got back on the road with the other Gravity now parked in our garage, the music began playing normally.

When I got home I asked him if his music has been pausing, too. He said it started doing it a few minutes before he got home, which was exactly the time I got back in the other Gravity to leave the doctor.

As usual, he had been streaming from Spotify, and I was streaming from Tidal. (And, as posted earlier, this has happened when its the Air on the road along with a Gravity . . . and when the music source in one of the cars was the USB stick.)

I have asked Lucid about putting the cars on separate accounts, something only they can do, but the engineering team that is looking at this hasn't gotten back to me yet.

Whoa, my audio alerts went a little bing bongy today. Driving to drop my kid at school, pulling out of a red light, suddenly I got a warning dinging noise (the car never came out of Drive, I had been driving normally before, but as soon as I hit like 2mph it started dinging) that would not stop for the last mile or so before school. No alerts anywhere on the dash, so I have no idea what it was bothered about. I figured I'd need a soft reset. It stopped when I pulled into a parking spot at school. I did a soft reset anyways figuring it would restart as soon as I started driving. (First time I've had to do one, which is good, but it was awfully finicky - didn't want to do it at first. Took me a few times and then it was very sluggish to wake back up. Possibly user error, but I don't think so.) I then drove the rest of the way to work trouble free. UNTIL I pulled into a parking spot at work. I got the usual front bumper parking noises so that I didn't crash into the curb, then I put the car into park and as soon as I did I got a single, long, unceasing BEEEEEEEEEP (quite loud) that didn't stop even after I got out of the car and closed the door. It did go away after I walked away from the car (I had to go back a few minutes later to fetch something). Again, no warning lights or anything to tell me why it was bothered. I *think* it was a different tone than the STOP solid beep you get when parking, because I had just gotten that beep when parking. So the pattern was beep beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeep, then silence for a split second after I put the car in park, then a slightly differently pitched BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP that didn't stop til I walked away.

Just a quick perspective break for all of us plagued by these Lucid software bugs:

A friend drove to our house for a Sunday movie afternoon in his Volvo XC30 and brought his dog. When he came into the house without the dog, I asked where the dog was. He said when he got out of the car it locked itself and would not reopen, something he said happens often. He said he just has to wait a little while until the car decides to unlock itself. What followed was a brief rant that would ring familiar to all here. Another friend who also has an XC30 -- and talked the dog owner into getting his -- was standing there just nodding along in agreement.

I know that carmakers want to use key fobs and/or cards to do all sorts of fancy things other than just unlock a car and turn it on, such as bring up profiles, move seats, etc.

But if the price is a car that you can't get into or start up reliably and quickly, it's a fool's choice.

By the way, there was also a Chevy Bolt EUV and another Gravity (owned by the guy with the "EV Current" YouTube channel) in our driveway for movie day. We're not an EV owners club, just a group of friends among whom EV addiction has spread as we've experienced each other's EVs.

Pure speculation on this, but it has to be related to the account set up as other have suggested. The issue seems to be that the same profile is being loaded in 2 different vehicles simultaneously, even if different ones are in use. Glad to hear the engineering team is looking into it. Good luck!

One of the reasons we bought two Gravities is that we're often on the road at the same time running around in different directions. It never occurred to me this would mean neither of us being able to listen to any audio source while doing so.

Correction: The YouTube channel I called "EV Current" is actually "Upcurrent EVs". He's a 2-time Bolt owner whose Gravity purchase made him want to start a channel to talk about the experience. This is how I found out there was another Gravity owner just a few miles away.

Has anyone noticed the driver attention can be particularly sensitive when going around corners? If I'm looking into the corner, I occasionally get the notification to keep eyes on the road, which I'm doing, just not staring straight ahead. Not a big deal and I'd frankly rather it be more attentive than not.
Ended up turning off those notifications as with the levels of interruption and focus pull… it is my belief that they are awful right now. Check your mirrors… get a warning… stare out windows… dont blink… very annoying… only thing more irritating was Tesla points and disabling FSD because of same factors.
Off for now until some later time when sw is generally better… but with other spurious warnings it only adds to the noise. More signal please. Agree that attentiveness is generally good… but as I began to hate the car and started considering flying , I knew it was time to shut it up.

It's a feature! Super Awesome Maximum Nap Mode! 😂

Had it happen once about a month or two ago. Not sure where it's root would lie...
Why does saying stuff on this forum seem to jinx the vehicle. Just had the seat drop back on me this morning for the first time since the previous time I mentioned. Are Lucid folks on here messing with us now???? 😂

I have seen this alert only a couple times, it went away for me.

Tesla service is looking into this, but even after the car slept for the whole night, the Alert still pops up when you put it in drive: This morning, I unplugged the car from the charger and checked the screen. All the errors were clear, but when I put the car in drive, about 10 seconds later, the Alert popped back up. Usually when I first get into the car, I get the update was successful message, today that didn’t happen.

Gotcha, it did go away for me. Sounds like a possible hardware issue for you.

Turn it off

Seat heating will not launch from my app. A couple days in a row I've tried this, each time no luck. It looks like it's on in the app (although, note to Lucid: I suggest you use clearer colors in all your menus and interfaces) but inside, no dice. No toasty butt :(

I'd like to second the suggestion on clearer colors. While I can appreciate the design aesthetics, the colors do not clearly convey the state of vehicle controls. I have to think about it to determine if climate is working. Conventions like red for heating and blue for cooling are universal for a reason. I should be able to give the app a glance and know what it thinks my car is doing.

Oh man. Could not agree more
  1. Ice cold air from HVAC has returned. Can’t replicate it consistently but it’s there when it matters most.
  2. Last evening it was raining here in the Boston area and my entire dashboard lit up. Collision detection sensor issue, rear drive unit failure alert, DDPro alert, high beam malfunction alert. I rebooted twice and no dice.
  3. Weird GPS bug that I can’t reproduce today morning - top display map seems to be stuck at a given location unless the console display also switches to maps view. Then both magically sync. The moment the console display is switched to music or something else, the top display gps is stuck.
  4. Called SC and I am positive Bryan at Natick is gaslighting me. “Everything is fine, happens on most cars”, “your AC is fine”, “gps errors are normal”. Like wtf man. This is not my first car, and gps errors are not that common - has happened to me once in 10 years, across 4 different cars.
  5. Today morning, all systems seem normal. 🤷‍♂️

Has any checked if the Gravity is waterproof? Maybe that's the issue.

Form over function. I've argued the same for a couple years, in both the app and the car's UX.

This is a big issue for me too.

The colors are not clear, and confusing at best. Gold on black is not good for readability and usability at all.

Half the screen is white on black (top display) but rest of the controls are gold on black (console).

My personal peeve is thin dark gray on black controls in the phone app switching to thin ight gray on black when active.
A close second are heating controls that change from dull yellow to medium yellow when turned on, rather than to red.

Not expecting any suggestions or fixes, but posting this for posterity and/or moral support:

Got in the car, both screens were pitch black. Pressed the brake, but it didn't change the screen situation. The climate system was blasting cold air (which is a whole different and well-documented issue), so I knew the car wasn't dead. I decided to take a walk, get some coffee and let the car sleep it off. Came back 15 mins later and the screens were still black, but this time showed the speedometer and backup cameras, so I decided to just head to work. Bluetooth wasn't working, so I played a podcast via my iPhone speaker. About 15 mins later and in the middle of my commute, the screens came on as normal and bluetooth audio resumed. However, stereo volume was unresponsive to steering wheel pad or scroll wheel input. Also, none of the physical climate control buttons worked, and while I could momentarily change climate controls via the touchscreen, they reverted back to their previous setting a moment later. Made it to work ok. After sitting in the work garage all day long, things were back to normal for the commute home, aside from frozen GPS which service will attempt to address soon.

It's been a couple of days and things have been ok since then, except for the persistent frozen navigation.
