Fare enough, What if customers think so? That any better? This was almost certainly just the agent trying to build rapport with you. Clearly it was unsuccessful, but Lucid absolutely does not think of their customers as R&D.

My wife refuses to drive my Gravity. It left her stranded twice in our first week of ownership. She prefers our 13 year old Ford Flex to my Gravity Dream Edition. That should tell Lucid something right there if they are listening. Great design, absolutely awful execution. What’s most annoying to me is this literally only happens when I am with my wife and/or kids. Then I just feel like an idiot as they all say “why doesn’t your car just work? Isn’t it new? Can we take the other car?”
It’s not stranded us, but the extra five minutes of fiddling around or waiting for infotainment to load is downright embarrassing.
My kids are old enough to use the internet and know how expensive the car is…
I have the patience of an early adopter - my family does not. This, too, shall pass.
I hear you. My wife won’t let go of her 2022 X and doesn’t want to drive the Gravity. We have a second GGT on order that I’ve now deferred as she wants to keep the X…insane to me as I hate driving the X now, but I do understand most folks don’t want to have a troubleshooting cheat sheet for their new car.My wife refuses to drive my Gravity. Of course not. I’m not suggesting Lucid has done everything right or has ever been perfect.Fare enough, What if customers think so? That any better?
I'm having anxiety about being in the same situation soon. My SA says my GGT order will go into production the week of Oct 19th. So I've got about a week to decide if I'm cancelling my order and getting my $1K back, or sticking with it. If I buy the GGT, it will be our only car (I have a Ram 2500 for work, but my wife doesn't use it). I have the patience to deal with Lucid's teething pains, but my wife does not. She won't care so much if the nav system doesn't work, or there's a bug in a music app. But she'll be unrelentingly critical if the vehicle won't unlock or let her go into drive. I know that if I stick with the order, there will probably be another software update before I take delivery. But after that point, I'll be exposed to the full strength of spousal disapproval if the car cannot be relied upon.My wife refuses to drive my Gravity. Agree.I have a hard time sticking around in any Reddit or YouTube thread for long, cuz there’s the inevitable awful people who find it their duty to crap all over other people’s enjoyment. It’s always “minivan” or “too expensive” or “they’re going bankrupt cuz Lucid financial billed me $500 on lease return, never getting another Lucid”, it’s just the same posts over and over again.
While I appreciate and agree with what you are saying, I do think it's unfair to lump Tesla in with Lucid. This is not that. I'm not a Tesla super-fan either but realistically there's no comparison.I think this thread is revealing that for a lot—probably most—people, a car is still a tool that gets them from point A → B, so reliability is near the top of the list of requirements. For these new EVs and Tesla, one aspect of the core value proposition is "a computer on wheels" with software-defined driving stacks, and those who are either in tech or are biased towards early adoption have different priorities. Obviously none of us like getting rando notifications or have the keyfob fail, but we're willing to trade off some of that raw A → B reliability for these other features and aspects of the car.
I would give the Gravity some time to breath and see if it mellows. Also I'm not sure from your description that your household is ready for an EV. Maybe start with the PHEV, because charging can be a challenge for some.I'm having anxiety about being in the same situation soon. I really have no idea what I should do, but I'll have to make some decision within the next few days.
Unless there's an update that fixes the drive issue, wait a few years and reconsider.I'm having anxiety about being in the same situation soon. You missed the point. TahoeMichael’s hesitancy has nothing to do with EVs and charging. It is purely about if the car will unlock and start 99.9999% reliably. The vast majority of EVs on the market now do not have this issue (well maybe Volvo/Polestar from what I hear). He would have the same hesitancy if he was buying a new Toyota Highlander that had a new tech locking system that was being reported with widespread unlocking/starting issues.I would give the Gravity some time to breath and see if it mellows. So far my experience lines up with yours... very pleased... hope they can address what is wanting for many of the others on the forum... Tidal Atmos is awesome once you figure out their odd interface.I’ve only had my Gravity one day but it’s been absolutely great so far. I did turn off passive unlock/lock just to ward off trouble until it’s confirmed the fob issues are completely resolved, but they must be close as the only fob issues I’ve had is I got a total of 3 “fob not detected” alerts, but it still let me drive it.
So let me alleviate concerns =
1) all windows adjust correctly every time for door open and close.
2) it has remembered my seat position every time.
3) no seat squeak at all. I do have a car seat in the left second row so maybe that helps stabilize it but it’s library quiet.
4) fob has unlocked and locked the car every time. I also got 2 fobs (dream edition).
5) fob has allowed me to drive the car every time
6) audio has worked perfect. Think Tidal Atmos in the Air sounds good? Gravity sounds even better, and the horizontal interface is better for viewing albums and playlists I think.
7) dynamic lighting is perfect, although at leash on 3.3.1 it doesn’t remember my settings for the lights so I have to redo it every time. And yeah it’s deliberate it doesn’t go to the dash when you are driving, that would be super distracting.
8) uh, why are people complaining about the HUD? Mine works great. Yes I can make the blue oval appear if I slouch so low I can no longer see over the dashboard, surely nobody’s sight line is that low? And yes you can’t move it left and right (yet) but can move it up and down and it’s like a virtual 3D display, very cool, better than our Volvo HUD which is 2D.
9) Frunk opens first try every time, zero issues with it. Same goes for trunk.
10) wireless phone charging has worked for me 5 out of 5 times I tried it. It can slip off a little but it worked great for me.
11) J1772 NACS adapter is so easy to use, you can disconnect from either end first, unlike Tesla tap
12) ride height adjustment is verrrry smooth and pretty impressive
13) sanctuary mode is really nice and better than I expected, works flawlessly for me, meanwhile it didn’t work right in either test drive car or studio car but I guess they fixed it.
14) trim is almost perfect save for the rear wheel arch guards drifting very subtly lower than the wheel well arch close to the bottom, and the lower window trim behind the passengers doors doesn’t sit quite flush with the door trim, but no way would I have them mess with that until the required 10k mile service.
15) car is dead quiet, way less road noise than the air
16) Halo works fine on my phone for being BETA version. One criticism I have of it though is it doesn’t work if car is charging, and I’d guess that’s the time most likely someone could mess with your car.
17) haven’t used navigation or dream drive yet but the SA who drove the car to my house used it almost the whole way and had no issues.
Maybe I’m just lucky but all signs to me so far point to them ironing out wrinkles pretty quickly and while I feel bad for a few owners who had had weird and frequent problems, my Gravity is put together way better than my 2022 Air was and way less glitchy, so I’m hoping this bodes well for other recently built cars.
I have so far never needed the keycard. 1 fob...I carry the card with me... heard that one should pull the battery and reboot the FOB if truly stuck... haven't needed that yet... plan on setting up my wife's keycard soon... before we leave for NM from CA on the 14th. Still need to take a trip locally and verify that DC charging works at all... haven't needed it so far.Ok my keycards definitely don’t put the car into drive if the fob is not present. Luckily I have two fobs that both work so I’ll just keep the backup in a Faraday bag until they figure out the keycard fail. I’m on 3.3.1 though so I wouldn’t blame Lucid yet as maybe 3.3.2 fixes it or 3.3.3 will. It’s funny cuz the test drive vehicles only worked with the keycard and not the fob, whereas mine is the opposite.
I should also point out that while InsideEVs was rightly critical of Lucid’s fob/card entry system unreliability being not OK, that means we don’t have to make a huge deal about it. Any article like that would put far more pressure on the team troubleshooting those systems than anything we could say on a forum would. So while yeah, criticize away, I think the message has been received haha.
I would never want less than full candor...I spend considerable time on YouTube, Reddit, and the comment sections on digital magazine reviews of the Gravity praising it for its great engineering, superb dynamics, and ingenious space packaging. I also try to correct a lot of negative misinformation that shows up in those venues. And I have been doing this throughout the four years I have owned four Lucids.
However, this forum is largely a different audience that mostly attracts people who already have Lucids or are seriously researching them for purchase. The forum in general -- and this "Bugs/Issues" thread in particular -- are, to me, places for full candor from owners, not just salesmanship.
Yesterday I thought I was gonna steering wheel reboot the infotainment but I got distracted and did something else for a few seconds looked back and the frozen media selector had thawed and was fine then... so for me 600+ miles from delivery and no reboots, resets... better find some wood to knock on... damn IKEA furniture... does particle board count?I had the same experience yesterday, fob was not working. I removed the battery and reinserted it and it has been working fine. We will see if that is a continued fix that is needed.
My last ICE car was a flex and it compares well functionally to the Gravity... i understand why she likes the FLEX. I call it the Stretch Volvo XC90. That said... I think we are maybe 2 to 3 major OTA's from the Gravity getting feature complete and debugged. Could hopefully be a half dozen micro bug fixers out during the wait. Love the car... so glad I got mine when I did.My wife refuses to drive my Gravity. It left her stranded twice in our first week of ownership. She prefers our 13 year old Ford Flex to my Gravity Dream Edition. That should tell Lucid something right there if they are listening. Great design, absolutely awful execution.
You should have some real wood on your dash and door handles.Yesterday I thought I was gonna steering wheel reboot the infotainment but I got distracted and did something else for a few seconds looked back and the frozen media selector had thawed and was fine then... so for me 600+ miles from delivery and no reboots, resets... better find some wood to knock on... damn IKEA furniture... does particle board count?
just got the Android update too (2.9.0). The update says "other improvements and enhancements"...whatever that means lolThe ios Lucid app just updated....so a software update may be immenent.
