Gravity Bugs / Issues

Come on Lucid!!!
You got this!!!

If the tech inside knows what they are doing... who cares what the building looks like. More service centers in shacks is fine just set up and train more folks to do it.
Tell that to the BMW, Benz, Porsche, and other customers of high-end brands.

This new Porsche dealership near me is almost done. Compare that to the Mechanicsville bunker. Clearly one represents an upscale brand more than the other.

I'm not bothered by it because, like you said, the work quality is ultimately what customers want, but looks/image matter to people.

Wait, so the one on the bottom is the Lucid service center? 🤣

What Lucid Needs now are champions... As soon as you get your Gravity go forth and evangelize it. I have already had a few folks ask about it along the way... looking forward to my tour from CA to NM. Gonna be a few stops along the way to demo the car as we go... at least let new folks know what it is... I don't know how but if some sticker maker could make a sticker with the Gravity QR code... to go to the online pages... that could increase the folks who learn about it as we go. Also what is with the cool subtle logo in front... I wanna paint in the Gravity letters in the air dam... why are we hiding?
I’ve only had my Gravity one day but it’s been absolutely great so far. I did turn off passive unlock/lock just to ward off trouble until it’s confirmed the fob issues are completely resolved, but they must be close as the only fob issues I’ve had is I got a total of 3 “fob not detected” alerts, but it still let me drive it.

So let me alleviate concerns =
1) all windows adjust correctly every time for door open and close.
2) it has remembered my seat position every time.
3) no seat squeak at all. I do have a car seat in the left second row so maybe that helps stabilize it but it’s library quiet.
4) fob has unlocked and locked the car every time. I also got 2 fobs (dream edition).
5) fob has allowed me to drive the car every time
6) audio has worked perfect. Think Tidal Atmos in the Air sounds good? Gravity sounds even better, and the horizontal interface is better for viewing albums and playlists I think.
7) dynamic lighting is perfect, although at leash on 3.3.1 it doesn’t remember my settings for the lights so I have to redo it every time. And yeah it’s deliberate it doesn’t go to the dash when you are driving, that would be super distracting.
8) uh, why are people complaining about the HUD? Mine works great. Yes I can make the blue oval appear if I slouch so low I can no longer see over the dashboard, surely nobody’s sight line is that low? And yes you can’t move it left and right (yet) but can move it up and down and it’s like a virtual 3D display, very cool, better than our Volvo HUD which is 2D.
9) Frunk opens first try every time, zero issues with it. Same goes for trunk.
10) wireless phone charging has worked for me 5 out of 5 times I tried it. It can slip off a little but it worked great for me.
11) J1772 NACS adapter is so easy to use, you can disconnect from either end first, unlike Tesla tap
12) ride height adjustment is verrrry smooth and pretty impressive
13) sanctuary mode is really nice and better than I expected, works flawlessly for me 🤷‍♂️, meanwhile it didn’t work right in either test drive car or studio car but I guess they fixed it.
14) trim is almost perfect save for the rear wheel arch guards drifting very subtly lower than the wheel well arch close to the bottom, and the lower window trim behind the passengers doors doesn’t sit quite flush with the door trim, but no way would I have them mess with that until the required 10k mile service.
15) car is dead quiet, way less road noise than the air
16) Halo works fine on my phone for being BETA version. One criticism I have of it though is it doesn’t work if car is charging, and I’d guess that’s the time most likely someone could mess with your car.
17) haven’t used navigation or dream drive yet but the SA who drove the car to my house used it almost the whole way and had no issues.

Maybe I’m just lucky but all signs to me so far point to them ironing out wrinkles pretty quickly and while I feel bad for a few owners who had had weird and frequent problems, my Gravity is put together way better than my 2022 Air was and way less glitchy, so I’m hoping this bodes well for other recently built cars.

The seat squeak took about two months to appear. My fob was perfect for the first 10 days. Strange things may happen, but super glad to hear you’re having an awesome experience so far and hope it continues!

Ok my keycards definitely don’t put the car into drive if the fob is not present. Luckily I have two fobs that both work so I’ll just keep the backup in a Faraday bag until they figure out the keycard fail. I’m on 3.3.1 though so I wouldn’t blame Lucid yet as maybe 3.3.2 fixes it or 3.3.3 will. It’s funny cuz the test drive vehicles only worked with the keycard and not the fob, whereas mine is the opposite.

I should also point out that while InsideEVs was rightly critical of Lucid’s fob/card entry system unreliability being not OK, that means we don’t have to make a huge deal about it. Any article like that would put far more pressure on the team troubleshooting those systems than anything we could say on a forum would. So while yeah, criticize away, I think the message has been received haha.

What Lucid Needs now are champions... As soon as you get your Gravity go forth and evangelize it.

I spend considerable time on YouTube, Reddit, and the comment sections on digital magazine reviews of the Gravity praising it for its great engineering, superb dynamics, and ingenious space packaging. I also try to correct a lot of negative misinformation that shows up in those venues. And I have been doing this throughout the four years I have owned four Lucids.

However, this forum is largely a different audience that mostly attracts people who already have Lucids or are seriously researching them for purchase. The forum in general -- and this "Bugs/Issues" thread in particular -- are, to me, places for full candor from owners, not just salesmanship.

Kudos to you for the social media follow up. That's a lot of time!

The YouTube and Reddit posts/comments are all over the place, but those two platforms are very popular with the general public.

I try to view/read and sometimes follow up with comments, but I have to stop at some point.

That is some serious evangelizing.

I have a hard time sticking around in any Reddit or YouTube thread for long, cuz there’s the inevitable awful people who find it their duty to crap all over other people’s enjoyment. It’s always “minivan” or “too expensive” or “they’re going bankrupt cuz Lucid financial billed me $500 on lease return, never getting another Lucid”, it’s just the same posts over and over again.

I agree. That’s why I stay out of those areas. I also feel like they’re breeding grounds for people shorting Lucid stock.

Service and customer care have told individual cases about it, and a few folks have posted it here. I imagine that just like the “nuke reset” in the early days, this may get added to the manual at some point soon.

Holding the unlock button may or may not be strictly necessary. Before I told @TribbleTrouble about this, she just removed and put it back in (by instinct, apparently), and it worked fine.
I had the same experience yesterday, fob was not working. I removed the battery and reinserted it and it has been working fine. We will see if that is a continued fix that is needed.

I'd like to get an opinion from the forum tech gurus on something before the mobile tech gets here this afternoon.

Last evening I showed the photo of our frozen screen with the vertical white lines and the video of our satellite maps rotating wildly back and forth to a friend who is a software programmer. He said these were more likely symptoms of faulty wiring than faulty software.

That got me to thinking whether that could be a common underlying cause of the various problems we've been seeing: the non-functioning GPS system, the frozen and spinning satellite maps, the difficulties two Service Centers have had in getting the car to accept software downloads (one for the GPS system and one for the new HUD).

Should I insist that Lucid explore this possibility?

I'm certainly not a tech guru but the presence of those lines on the screen does feel like an issue with wiring. Because they were so evenly spaced it doesn't seem like something that would just naturally be created by a software bug unless it was a design feature.

I agree with your friend, although it could be a bad component rather than bad wiring.

What’s most annoying to me is this literally only happens when I am with my wife and/or kids. Then I just feel like an idiot as they all say “why doesn’t your car just work? Isn’t it new? Can we take the other car?”

It’s not stranded us, but the extra five minutes of fiddling around or waiting for infotainment to load is downright embarrassing.

My kids are old enough to use the internet and know how expensive the car is…

I have the patience of an early adopter - my family does not. This, too, shall pass.

This, I agree with. We luckily have only ever had this happen once (the key issue needing a battery out/in) and the screens turn on within 20-30sec, but I agree this is an issue. I would prefer not to have to worry about whether my “demo” will work for the person I’m showing it to, so to speak.

That said, I know they’re actively working on it and fixing it, so in some (hopefully quite short) amount of time this will all be a distant memory, hopefully.

My kids are old enough to use the internet
This is a mistake. Avoid at all costs. The internet was a mistake, and you should not subject your innocent children to it.

This is a new somewhat scary development with my GDE. It's no longer "Holding" on hills and at stop lights. I verified the feature is activated in the Driving Dynamics screens but the car either creeps forward or rolls back on hills.

I'll see if it persists then call it in if it does.....I already have a service appointment for the fob scheduled October 5th.
I'm wondering if you got a resolution on this with Service?

My wife found a YouTube video that talked about this, in part. Was that your's?

This is the reality of the situation and the folks that should be embarrassed are not, they are just chalking it up to new car issues.

I spoke to Lucid support today and it was frightening to hear him tell me yes we know about all those issues and thank you for reporting them. We are actively working to resolve them, "thanks to our customers who make up our R&D"... He clearly is not embarrassed to make that statement.

The Gravity is simply not baked enough in development, something the engineers I am certain are aware of. The fact remains shareholders make these decisions to sell the vehicle as they are losing money every minute a car isn't made and sold. This is like slowly drinking poison and thinking it wont kill you. This is NOT a formula for success it just isn't. Future buyers wont buy the lucid brand when they hear about all these issues with a new vehicle, support stating "the customer is our R&D"

I am in the honeymoon stage and already feeling buyers regret to be honest. I have very little confidence this was a good short term or long decision. Time will tell how bad a decision it really was.

This was almost certainly just the agent trying to build rapport with you. Clearly it was unsuccessful, but Lucid absolutely does not think of their customers as R&D.
