Gravity Bugs / Issues

Yeah this is a good point. If you have to shake a fob to wake it up (which in my opinion is a bad design because you’re going to have fobs not waking up all the time and all these reports of trouble as we are seeing here), then it shouldn’t be continually waking up the car 50 feet away if it’s stationary and draining the fob battery, but it sounds like it is? I love Lucid and am excited to get my Gravity but this whole utterly confusing and malfunctioning approach to just getting into the damn car and driving it is aggravating. Particularly since Lucid assured everyone they made it better than the Air’s fob system, but thus far have not. Or have made it better….if it works.

So I think this is how it “works”?
1. Walk up to car with fob, maybe door handles present themselves.
2. If door handles don’t present, shake fob to wake it up.
3. Get into the car and try to drive it. It may not recognize the fob and let you drive.
4. If these fail try keycard instead.
5. If that doesn’t work, turn off passive entry and manually press in door handles or press unlock on fob, then get into car and see if it will actually recognize fob and let you drive. (I’ll probably do this one just as it seems like it results in the least failures?)
6. Drive car and periodically get key not detected alerts because either battery is low but car doesn’t alert you that it’s low like other cars, or because you’re not activating the accelerometer in the fob to let the car know that yes the fob you detected when you let me drive is still in fact in the car while driving.

I try very hard not to be armchair CEO, I know these things can be very difficult to implement so of course I give benefit of the doubt. But when a new customer gets a new car and you are making them learn repeatedly just how hard it is to make these things work, that is bad. It’s not quite the disaster of the Volvo EX90 (see InsideEVs recent article of their entry system failures being even worse than Gravity), but I just hope this actually gets fixed before some of these sites run a piece on the Gravity like they just did on the EX90. The Gravity is an incredible and groundbreaking vehicle and it bums me out those accomplishments are being diminished by erratic software and vehicle entry systems.
Keyfob turning off is not exclusive to Lucid. My son's ID4 does that too. It's an added security feature that keep your keyfob signal from being picked up and relayed to unlock and start your car. This is the only method I has seen in which a Taycan was stolen, other than carelessness, and I bought the Faraday box just to prevent this (small risk, I know). A keyfob that shut down after not being used is a good mechanism, but if the car is CONSTANTLY looking for it while driving or it doesn't wake up from handling them, or it doesn't sleep like it should, I'd imagine that's causing a lot of the issues.

As a result of my key fob simply needing a new battery (after it already had the 3.3.1 firmware update) and the wireless charging just needing an iPhone reset due to an iOS 26 bug, I have decided to give the car the benefit of the doubt.

As @Bunnylebowski suggested, I am going with Occam’s razor first from now on.

Dear Lucid App,

My windows are not open. Stop freaking me out every time I precondition my car. If I tap the icon to close my windows, they will, in fact, be open. I’d like to have an honest relationship here.

Stay classy,
Ron

Have had the exact same thing happen multiple times. I've just ignored it, since I know they're up...

Except for that one time it'll happen. In a rainstorm. 🥴

I was checking out the Lucid app and tried the cabin vent feature to crack the windows. Everything work perfectly. Then I selected close and while the Drivers side and both rear windows closed, the passenger window went half way down. I got an error message that the windows hadn't closed properly. I selected retry and the passenger window went fully open with the same message. I retried again and the window stayed fully open. On the 4th try the window fully closed and the error message went away. Very strange!

This ^

My kids do sometimes leave them open, and I am good at remembering to put them up (I like how the Tesla app has a feature that bugs you if you leave the windows open). But, sometimes I DO forget. With my Rivian and Tesla, the seat material is synthetic, so it doesn’t really matter if they’re soaked. I’d be pissed if my $4,000+ Tahoe leather seats got soaked though…

I dropped my car off at the Mechanicsville sc this morning for the console replacement.

Context:
The sc is located behind the main building of a local auto body shop.
Most of the buildings where work is done are behind a fenced area; some you can see before entering the fenced area.
Months before taking delivery of my Gravity I had visited the site to see the sc, but the gate to the fenced area was closed, so I did not see the actual sc.
During that visit I talked to an employee of the body shop who confirmed that Lucid rented a space behind their main building

The shop does body work and other service on all kinds of cars. After driving through the fenced area today I saw several Porsches, Audis, Teslas, Rivians, etc. around the various buildings. Then I saw what had to be the Lucid sc since there were three Airs parked nearby.
I couldn't believe my eyes.

Totally NOT what I expected to see.
An ammunition depot? A military bunker? No the Lucid Mechanicsville service center.
Two service techs had already come out while I remained in my car until just before my appointment time.
I had to take a picture.

I've been to the Tysons Corner service center.
The facility is fantastic.
What I was looking at was a stark contrast.
I respectfully mentioned to the service tech that the building what not at all what I was expecting, especially after having been to the Tysons Corner location and knowing the luxury branding of Lucid. He said the inside what nicer.
He proudly stated he enjoyed his work and had been at the location since 2022 when they were servicing cars as far north as the Maine and Vermont before the KOP and another service center opened.
He indicated that Lucid is considering new sc locations based on sales volume by state and region.
So, I hope this a temporary situation.
However, it has existed since 2022.

Does anyone else's service center look like what's shown below?
Should I not be surprised?

King of Prussia, PA opened not that log ago. This is what the service area looks like.

Hello @marqie,

I have a suggestion, although no one has asked for it so sorry for dropping it randomly on you.

Is there an official place for reporting software bugs? I'm not aware of one. I'm not an owner yet so I might not have access to the mobile app and maybe some pages on official Lucid website.

That might be a silly suggestion for a company making cars, but I was wondering whether Lucid should come with an official tool for reporting issues and bugs (mainly software related) and suggesting features. EVs are half cars and half computers with OS and other software running on it. A lot of issues EV users are dealing with are software related and I can imagine having a dedicated place where people can report issues, provide some basic data (per some rules) like version installed, steps to reproduce the issue, maybe photos and videos might help in a few ways. All issues will be in one place. It might be easier to recognize urgent issues, the scale (how many people are affected), and which are more requested to be fixed (priority). I can imagine that sifting through this forum and this mega thread is less than ideal.
There are a few solutions that exist right now, but might not work for Lucid, but still worth looking at.

GitHub projects have a section dedicated for reporting issues where other people can discuss it, provide extra data, and owners can mark them pending/completed etc. It will also be a new communication tool to let people know which issues are on Lucid radar, and which might be fixed in coming OTA.
Other thing that comes to my mind is UserVoice. Many projects use that or implement something similar to that (Proton, Microsoft). Easy way to suggest ideas and let other vote on them.

I'm not sure if this can be considered too "advanced" or too hard to use for average customer. But I know that folks in tech fields will love it (including me).

There is also a third option, but in hands of Admins and Moderators of this forum. With some rules in place for bug issues section. Instead of mega threads we should have a separate thread per issue.

I'm not a PR specialist in any way so I don't know if this is a good thing from this point of view. But I can imagine this can go either way. On one hand it might be a PR win saying about transparency, maybe improvement in fix delivery times (quick iterations), happier customers. I want to believe that tech people (including YouTubers) and forward thinking people will think this as a good thing. But there is always a chance that some publications searching for drama might jump on it and push articles saying "look how many issues Lucid owners are reporting, the software is bad and unreliable". Can some bad actor / competition use it against Lucid?

PS. I'm not expecting a reply. Just some food for thought for Lucid.

That was my original thought but when I watched it the window didn't go up and then come back down. It immediately retracted to half open. Then it immediately retracted to fully open. On the 4th try when it finally did go up it sealed and remained closed. Usually when Ive seen a sensor/ seal issue the window goes up, senses resistance, and then retracts. Am I missing something?

I have the same issue with my driver window and I do think it’s the seal. It also happens on second row passenger side. I had asked for it to be adjusted when it was at SC a week ago, but think that item got lost among the more urgent issues I had. Got to be the seal. But it’s on my not super important list as it does go up with patience. It just won’t go up with the auto up feature.

BUT let me add the benefit of the doubt component. Has ANYONE who has gotten the new update AND had service update the Keyfob continued to have erratic fob behavior for vehicle entry, or fob errors when driving? Maybe 3.3.1 + service visit to fix fob is the definitive fix (unless the center console wiring issue is the problem?).
My fob functions properly. It wakes up the car, unlocks it, and starts it as expected. I’ve had the fob updated, but I’m receiving the “key fob not detected” message randomly when stopped at traffic lights. However, this doesn’t prevent the car from functioning. Perhaps it’s just a false alarm. Who knows, but it’s not like the Gravity has been completely free of false alerts, which, to be honest, have significantly decreased with the last couple of updates.

2) Key not detected - happens every now and then while driving. I shake it and it goes away. This is weird, but it’s not really a big deal to me. Fob shouldn’t be communicating with car while you drive, as I’ve mentioned before.
I don’t even bother shaking it. The car still remains in drive and goes. It either disappears on its on or slight movement when the car is in motion makes it go away. The key always remains in my right pocket.

That's good to hear. I would like to be able to just have the fob in my pocket. Taking it out dramatically increases the chance that I lose it, or leave it behind in the car when I get out.

Door is open with some other fault. I had it on my car when they had to work on window and interior panel was removed. Specifically, I believe it’s a fault with the door latch.
Apparently the service center needed to have the door panels off as part of this service, hence the display on my app.

Another update: they are awaiting a revised center console for my car and essentially confirmed the pinched wiring harness explanation. Hopefully this permanently solves the key issues I’ve seen.

I’ve seen this happen while I was driving. I rolled down the window for my passenger briefly, and the window went all the way down when I pulled up the window switch for a moment. It was unresponsive for a moment and then went back up after a few seconds

I'm totally with @HC_79 where my fob always works, always stays in my pocket, and I just ignore the random "key not detected" messages since they just seem like false alarms.

The greatest irony is it will tell me multiple times that the key is not detected but then as soon as I open the door tell me not to forget my key 😂

That’s why they haven’t enable hands free driving yet cuz the car is drunk.
