Gravity accessories slowly appearing

This will be an interesting engineering problem. The gap can change size as the 2nd row seats are moved forward/backward. The gap proved to be very useful for my road trip of 4 people, two 80 lb dogs, and a week’s worth of human and canine luggage.

I was able to fit large suitcases into that gap by moving the 2nd row seats all the way forward, which still left plenty of legroom for my 2nd row passengers. The normal flat area of the cargo space was taken up by the two dogs.

Whatever the solution is, I hope it’s not just filler but rather a platform/compartment that keeps the extra storage space. The cargo capacity of the Gravity is fantastic.

I've thought about a 3-position hinged "flap". When we put stuff back there, it often slides forward into the hole, where it's a pain to crawl in and lift it out. A hinged flap that could be locked into a vertical position would act as a backstop. But there's also times we wanna use that space, so we could flip the flap outward and lay it flat. And if we just want to cover the hole flat all the way to the seats, flip it forward.

I never use cargo nets in rear cargo areas (a few of our previous vehicles came with them), but I think I would in the Gravity if they'd have included hooks on the sides at that point to act as a backstop to the hole.

Your original post was pretty vague. Especially since us 7 seaters also have that void.

And yes, both have the gap when the third row is missing but those of us with 5 seaters have a permanent hole there that serves no purpose so a cover will be a bit more useful to us overall given that we never need that space for the third row.

Got it, didn’t notice you weren’t the original commenter.
That void does serve a purpose, without it you wouldn’t be able to adjust the second row back.

Yes but even with the second row all the way back there's a large gap behind it. The footwell space for the third row is there whether you have it or not.

Got tired of not having my WeatherTech CargoTech blocks and having stuff sliding around in the back (that rear carpet is very slippery!) so I tossed in my old WT liner from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I already had and while it's not a perfect fit it's at least good enough for now to be able to secure things in place with the blocks.

I had some StayHold velcro cargo dividers that I tried in the Gravity, but they don't hold like they did in the Mach-E. The Gravity carpet is too short for the velcro to grab onto.

Here’s a case I found to store both the CCS1 and J1772 adapters that came with the Gravity. When I received my vehicle the J1772 came in a pouch, but the CCS1 came with nothing to protect it.

I wonder if that has any impact on aerodynamics and highway efficiency, being off to the side maybe disrupting airflow thru that side vent?

While I don't like the idea of drilling holes, I think I like the looks of the regular holder in the middle better.

Well, for me the aerodynamics/range & airflow would only be affected and the look of "not in the middle" would only be a factor on the way down to the courthouse to get a sheriff to sign off a hypothetical citation and go pay it at the Traffic window.
Then I'd go any X number of months driving around without a front plate again!!

I was thinking of building something originally for the hole, taking 1/4 inch plywood cutting it in the middle and adding a piano hinge there to allow it to fold so it would fit in the rear compartment when not in useThen I would add two legs with a simple hinge to the bottom to support the front of the cover with the second row seat up while the back cargo area would be supported by about an inch of lip of plywood extending over it. This allows the cover slide into the rear compartment no mater were the 2 nd row is positioned. Then I would wrap the thing in dark grey speaker housing cover material. I think now I will wait to see what lucid comes up with first

Your mileage may vary, but no problems here when removing one for an updated one. I appreciate the other physical license brackets too, but I have seen the license plate wrap work well on several cars. As Borski mentioned, it is legit and official for CA and the other states they list.
