Gravity - 3.5 and Carplay first impressions

Anyone knows how to disable AA from automatically launch? It overtakes media, calls, etc even if I want to use the native apps.
The only option I found was in settings by selecting to not launch when the phone is locked, but it's sort of a limited workaround.
This reminds me why I never liked AA or CP in other cars...

Let's not lump them together, Apple clearly has a setting for that. If set as such, it will not launch wireless CarPlay and only launch if it is plugged in to USB. As far as AA goes, no idea.

You're right, my question/comment is specific to AA.

AA has a similar setting, if you go to settings from the Launcher it can specify if you want it to defer to the car, launch on start or same as last drive.

(when not using CarPlay) does everyone realize one has to turn up the volume on the iPhone itself as well as use the volume in the car? It's a stupid Bluetooth quirk.
 
I compared Gravity 3.5.1 CarPlay to AA today. I was able to toggle between them and native Gravity displays. Not impressed with AA, impressed with CarPlay. CarPlay voice to text msg, is what I expect I will use often. Apple map can show compass direction, though I prefer using google map. Looked at third party compass direction widgets, though did not find any I liked. I arranged the order of the CarPlay icons via the iPhone. Looked good on the Gravity. Many on this forum knock the native Gravity map app. I like that I can be on both screens where one map shows greater detail and the other shows the route end to end.

Agree. CarPlay can do two views, but unfortunately Lucid has chosen not to implement it. This is also true in Air, where CarPlay was implemented about two years ago.

Thank you. I guess "same as last drive" would be the equivalent to having it not launch automatically.

It's a better test to use a known file, its an uncompressed Wave file in this test. Streaming services will only be worse. Apple Music and Tidal use FLAC at least which is lossless compression. So Apple Music over Wired Carplay will be lossless all the way and the best possible experience (without Atmos unfortunately)

While navigating, CarPlay can either show the overall route or the turn by turn. You can switch between them by tapping the screen and then tapping the icon in the very upper right. In some vehicles, including BMW, you can have a second CarPlay view in the dashboard in addition to the standard window. During navigation you can see both of those two views simultaneously. Since we have such a beautiful high resolution screen in our Lucid vehicles, I would like to have that option. In reality, our center dashboard does not show that much information to us, especially when Dream Drive is not activated.

Yep, our Cadillac Lyriq has this too, love it. Hope Lucid adds this later on.

there is actually an "out". For example, I just did Waze, set destination, switched out of CarPlay on the cockpit selected nav, selected destination, switched back to CarPlay and Waze still had the navigation set and the hud still matched the lucid nav, can't put the map on the pilot panel though I suspect or it will drop nav from Waze.

It did it once and didn’t do it today. Weirdness. I am sure I wasn’t margining this yesterday…
 
First I do love that CarPlay is now available.
I love that you can change the background as well as the positions of the icons that you want to see on each vehicle that uses CarPlay.
I WISH, that the Carplay directions were shared with the HUD in Lucid. I also have a 2025 Nissa Armada Platnum Reserve that shares both Android maps and CarPlay with the HUD display and it is great to keep your eyes on the road. WAZE doesn't do this in either vehicle.
 
I also love that I can just say Hey Siri, and give an instruction like direct me home and it does it.

I went back to the Lucid nav because of this. Love having the nav directions in the HUD so I don't have to look away from the road. Also, the nav was spinning around in Google Maps last time I tried it. Must be something with the Gravity's gps that Lucid fixed in their native nav but is affecting AA
