I really do feel sorry for Lucid at times. Nothing ever seems to be good enough when they do roll out something. Everyone was bitching about not having CarPlay and Android Auto and now it’s here and they’ve implemented it like 95% of other automakers have, you’re still not happy. Can’t win!
Honestly? They're the ones that try to push a luxury image and have marketing like this:
“Compromise Nothing” is a refusal to accept mediocrity in the face of true potential. It’s our answer to a legacy of compromises in the automotive world.
“Compromise Nothing” is also our promise—a promise that only Lucid can keep.
And yet so far they keep compromising. A HUD with basic functionality and no clear path to the promised features, promised the Gravity wouldn't be plagued with key issues like the Air only to have problems again, promised CarPlay/AA last year, promised PaaK last year, Dolby Atmos sold as a feature that only works in one app, etc. To me, it's not that nothing is good enough, it's that Lucid sets expectations high and then keeps underdelivering on a lot of it. I'm happy to have CarPlay, just disappointed that their version of "compromise nothing" includes the same low end implementation as those 95% of other cars you reference, very few of which have prices close to the Gravity and very few of which have positioned themselves in this segment.
I've said it before, I love my Gravity, it's hands down the best vehicle I've ever owned or driven. The problem is the company, they keep missing their own deadlines, keep making the same mistakes repeatedly and just seem completely disorganized. Think back to when you were annoyed with them for advertising the video playback features that still haven't arrived 6+ months later.
In any case, I'm not going to harp on it. I've made my displeasure with the implementation clear just as you have your opinions that you don't like/care about CarPlay. Not trying to change minds, I just think Lucid can and should do better on all of these features.
