Flat Tire - Dealer or Tire Shop? Better 21" Summers?

Pothole on the Palisade Parkway this morning... and I JUST picked it up from service a few days ago.
Unfortunately you have to use approved tow off the parkway. Kudos to Lucid, they paid for a tow from the local tire shop to the dealership and an uber back home.

Anyone have recommendations on 21" summers if not Pirelli?

I just had to replace two of my 19"s and I went with a tire shop because they offered road hazard coverage with install. Lucid said they didn't offer any sort of hazard coverage.

Nope. Pirelli is your option for 21s. The LM2 (latest iteration) are solid though.

I switched my Pirelli Summers for All Season Bridgestone Turanza EV's. I really like them, quiet and ride well... Though, I also hit a pothole recently, and my front right 21" was bent beyond repair. Decided to downsize to the 19" wheels, but still went with the Turanza EV's. Hopefully the 19"s will be more resilient against all the potholes here. Firestone stores offer the Road Hazard warranty, which will pro-rate replacement cost based on mileage.

Thank you both. I have driven on the 19s but I prefer the handling and confidence of the 21s. I am still on the LM1 originals so let’s hope the LM2 replacement is more resilient.

Does anyone know if you can pair an LM1 and LM2 with similar tread wear? Or do I need to replace in pairs?

You can pair them; that’s fine. You don’t need to replace them in pairs.

If you do go that route, I highly recommend the Discount Tire / America’s Tire tire certificates. If you buy the tires from them, you can just add it on. If you don’t, that’s also totally fine, they’ll just inspect the tire.

I think all four cost me like $280 or something, maybe $380 I don’t remember. But if anything happens to my tires short of tread life, any DT/AT will replace it for free. A new cert for that new tire is $100.

I’ve never used it, but it sure does feel nice having it lol.

FWIW, I have never, ever, had a single issue on my 21s, whether LM1 or LM2.

Meanwhile, on my 19s I had 2-3 nails that needed patching or replacement.

You’ll be fine. Drive, don’t aim for potholes, and enjoy.

I’ve never used it, but it sure does feel nice having it lol.

I have used the certs four times. Works like a charm. KEEP THE INFLATION UP on 21s. Since I went to 45, no more DT visits.
