Ford F-150
Hi all,

I am 6'7" and my wife is 6'1", and we have a 6 year old that is growing like a weed! We currently drive a 2015 Ford F-150 which we purchased because of the room for both the front driver/passenger along with me being able to "sit behind myself" = drivers seat all the way back and I could fit in the back.

For those of you who have sat in the Gravity, have any of you driven/sat in a Super Crew (a.k.a. four door) F-150 before? If so, how would you compare the leg & head room to an F-150?

I ask because they didn't allow the general public to sit in the prototype Gravity they had up in Seattle in Sep 2024.

I understand from @hmp10 's post that the seat controls weren't fully fleshed out in the prototypes, so it might be difficult to compare.
BTW thank you @hmp10 for the detailed write up!

Thank you very much for your time.

FYI the more I read these forums and hear references to minivans the more exciting the Gravity sounds as I wanted a minivan when we were looking for vehicle back in 2014/2015 but was forced into the pickup trucks for the seating space.

Can't help you on the F150 space comparison but I'm 100% on the, "We want an electric minivan!", train.

Been driving a F-150 SuperCrew since I got it new in Sept 2017; 2.7L V6 Twin Turbo, 2WD (no snow/ice for me)...best truck I've ever driven! We are now grandparents, and we got the F-150 because of its cavernous interior, esp the back seat! Just emailed the Roswell, GA Lucid site asking when the first Gravity will arrive. Haven't sat in one yet. I can tell you, though, if Ford offered better leasing/financing deals on the Lightning, that's what I'd be driving right now. The Lucid Air 18 month lease with discounts for on-site vehicles was just too sweet, so I walked away from Ford (while keeping my F-150) and in a luxury EV (my first) for $429/month. This may not be helping you JB67, but Ford just announced a new "Power Promise" for EV buyers: FREE 80-amp home charger plus FREE installation (up to 80' cable distance). Saw this on "State of Charge" YouTube channel. I test drove a Lightning and was oh so close to signing the dotted line, but that was two months ago, and Ford had zero incentives for the truck. Test drove the MachE Mustang too, which was fun but underwhelming in general. Let us know what you end up doing; wish you and your family the best regardless of what you choose!

Yeah, I had been watching the VW ID Buzz since 2019, but after it came out in Europe a couple years back and the reviews reported the lackluster charging and performance, I started to loose hope on the electric minivan front. But when I heard minivan like interior space and Lucid touting the passenger room it go me intrigued.

I know it has been really tempting to go for the F-150 Lightning. My wife and I took a test drive in one a while ago, and thought it drove great!
I was disappointed that the bump under the console on the left side of the shotgun seat foot well was still there and interfering with foot space (size 15). The low charging rate and efficiency made it a "not worth buying unless our truck gets totaled" since ours still runs well.

FYI after having watched the Tech Talks my wife and I drove up to Seattle earlier this year just to see if the interior passenger room in the Air was everything they said, and I will say it was!! But......getting in, and especially out, was hilarious for someone my size. Basically I had to do the limbo combined with a pull up to get out of the vehicle. Oddly enough the fixed glass roof I had decent headroom in, but the all metal roof I hit my head on the "ceiling reinforcement" going between the B pillars.

@JB67 , welcome to the forum! I do have one question, though: Do you care about the third row or is your sole priority the first and second row? If the latter, your scenario almost exactly mirrors ours! I might be able to help here.

I’ve owned a few F-350 SuperCrews over the years. They shared the same cabin space as 150s in later models. I’m 6’1”. The Gravity makes way better use of the interior space. I feel like the Gravity is larger inside but I know the dimensions probably say otherwise. You won’t have the same sitting-above-traffic feel you do in the 150. The nice, wide armrest/middle seat isn’t there in the Gravity. Your driver seat, however, is sculpted to you and more driver-focused. The leg/head room is absurd and spacious just like the back row in SuperCrews. I’ve slept on the floor in the back row of a Ford driving across country with buddies. The Gravity is similar with space. Third row isn’t in the conversation since it doesn’t exist in the Ford.

Also, it’s a Lucid. It’s light years ahead of Ford in form and function on the inside. Nothing is wasted. Interior pace is optimized and obsessed over and it shows. It’s not just an afterthought after a body is mounted to a frame and power train.

Thank you @xponents for asking that, I read your post, started thinking about it, and then asked my wife to get her thoughts. Her response was "No, I don't think we really need a third row". And I agree with her (as any smart husband would!). 😁

The original thought was being able to take my parents (6'1" & 5'9") and my mother in law (5'7") with us and our child, but.....that would probably rarely if ever happen.
We have been successfully operating with only 2 rows, the big annoyance being little to no interior (to passenger compartment) storage in a pickup.

I am curious what your thoughts are?

Thank you @TakeDou, that does give me hope for the Gravity

A 6’7” man fits in the 3rd row of the Gravity (video plays at the timestamp of the 6'7" mention):

Thank you @Missourian! I had actually seen that one (I enjoy Out_of_Spec videos especially when they are talking the technical details), and it got me really excited for the Gravity. I hope Kyle Conner, when he gets a Gravity for testing, shows the tall friend of his in a video inside the Gravity.

I really wish Kyle had mentioned how the seat were configured (ex. seats half way back) when the 6'7" person got in, that would have been really useful for me.

If you want an F-150 but with more interior storage, check out the Expedition. There won’t be as much leg room in the 2nd row, but should be sufficient. Alternatively, just install a BedRug and well-sealing tonneau cover or camper shell on your existing F-150. That’s what I did when I had an F-150.

Wait for the 5 passenger Gravity IMO

I’m pretty sure both the 5 and 7 seaters will be options at launch, but don’t quote me on that; it’s a vague recollection and I don’t have a direct source other than “someone at Lucid,” so take that for what it’s worth.

And no @hmp10, no news on captain’s chairs lol

Oh, I pretty gave up on that one after Erich Bach's recent interview in which he said they don't know if they'll ever put them in.

My current fantasy revolves around a Performance version at launch.

Because of something mentioned on the most recent Road to Gravity video, and thank you @hmp10 for pointing out the outline on the Gravity website, I am listing below the various vehicle panel door lengths as an interesting set of numbers.

Note: the Gravity and Honda Odyssey measurements are based off of the ratio of the length of the vehicle in inches to the length of the figure on our computer screen. Method = figure of vehicle is measured on screen in cm to nearest mm, then width of vehicle door panel is measured on screen with same precision, then using the following formula to calculate length in inches [(vehicle length in inches) x (vehicle panel door length on screen in cm)]/(vehicle length on screen in cm)

Our 2015 F-150 "Supercrew" door panels' max lengths:
Front Door = 48"
Rear Door = 39"

Lucid Gravity door panel max lengths based of off of figure on website:
Front Door = ~45"
Rear Door = ~46.5"

2025 Honda Odyssey sliding door panel max length based of off of figure on website = ~49"
(@hmp10 does that length look about right, I ask assuming the door hasn't changed between the model year you have and the 2025 version)
