Had to interact with the San Jose service center twice, and I was extremely disappointed both times.

The first time, when picking up my Gravity, I arrived at the scheduled time.
I couldn’t see the entrance because it was blocked by a large truck, so I ended up going to the main parking lot.
There was an employee standing next to my car, but he couldn’t tell me anything as he didn’t speak English at all.
After trying to communicate with him and getting nowhere, I figured out the entrance was behind the truck and went there.

When I entered the building, another employee greeted me and asked if I was there to pick up a car.
After a brief conversation, I realized he thought I was there for a service pickup, so I told him I was there for a new delivery. He then directed me to the sales room next door.
When I got there, the room was completely empty, so I just waited.
After about five minutes, my delivery associate finally showed up.

It turned out he was a recent hire and didn’t know much about the car. Not that it mattered to me, since I’d watched literally every Gravity video on YouTube, but still.
I noticed some glue residue on one of the doors and asked to have it fixed. He said it would take a few minutes, which was fine. After a couple of minutes, he came back and told me he'd need to drive the car somewhere for polishing, and that I would have to wait in the parking lot. Normally that would be fine, but it was pouring that day.
After a few minutes standing in the rain, he drove the car to me and said I'm good to go. The only issue? He forgot to collect my cashier’s check for the DAS, so I had to hand it to him myself. 😆

3 weeks since delivery, and today I received a call to schedule an appointment for my due bill items.
Right away, I noticed the guy was speaking very slowly and mumbling.
We went through the list of items, and everything was alright until we got to the last one - HUD. My concern is that the HUD unit in my car isn’t aligned properly: there’s a noticeable 1/4" gap between the lens and the plastic trim. I’m certain this isn’t normal, since none of the demo vehicles in the showroom had this issue.

To my surprise, he didn’t know what HUD was. He kept referring to it as a headlamp, and I had to correct him multiple times. Eventually, I just gave up and explained what car I have and what the HUD feature is.

Come on, Lucid sells these cars for over $100k, and they can’t properly train their staff?

I've noticed a lot of turn over in the Service advisers but the managers seem to stay long term. Perhaps its the managers that need some fine tuning?

I'd be curious to know how Lucid views its SAs. Are they considered salespeople, and have quotas and commissions? Or are they salaried staff? In my experience, sales people on quota tend to have rapid turnover. The people that struggle to meet their quotas often quit or are pushed out. The ones that do great are often poached by companies that offer them better pay. And in both cases the quota system encourages a mercenary attitude that engenders little loyalty between the employee and the company. I'm grateful I'm an engineer and have never had a sales job!

Looks like my SA received extensive training in "Customer Ghosting 101". She clearly excels at it, I'm sure Lucid is giving her high marks in her annual performance review.

I can't imagine that, then they would answer the phones more! For real though that would be like a Service Writer type position. At this point I'm sure they do 99% warranty work, so I doubt there's a sales incentive like a franchise dealer would have. I don't know how their techs get paid, probably flat rate too like Tesla.

sad to hear as this would be my local shop. :(

anyone know how far out the actual service appointment calendar is at this point?

i think it depends on the issue. If its a drivability or repeat issues (as mine was), they get you in a few days. If its something like "the radio sucks" then that's gonna be January I reckon.

Despite extremely frustrating experience with the San Jose service center, my SA was from the Lucid HQ in Newark and the whole experience dealing with him was spectacular.

I have no idea who you talked to, but the San Jose staff is generally extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I know them personally, and well.

I’d give it another chance, and perhaps escalate if necessary.

They’re good people.

I think there is some confusion here.

The title of this thread was about the service center, but it appears this is actually about sales and a specific delivery advisor, perhaps.

Either way, a service advisor is not a sales advisor which is not a delivery advisor, and the three are separate. They’re still great people at SJ, but this has nothing to do with service and I think that’s worth pointing out.

This has nothing to do with service, fwiw.

I know I grouped the delivery center, service center, and showroom under the same umbrella and referred to all of them as the service center, because that’s what my delivery appointment was saying.
However, my experience specifically relates to the people working at this location either as Service Advisors or Delivery Advisors.

Delivery Advisors. If you just had the car delivered, you've likely not interacted with Service yet.

Please re-read my post as I received a call to schedule my service to address due bill issues.
I'm pretty sure I interacted with a Service Advisor.

Ah, I stand corrected; I misread that part of your post. I’m very, very surprised by that; I still suspect it wasn’t a service advisor, but I admit it could have been. Every single one I’ve interacted with knew their stuff thoroughly, though.

Had one more interaction today and got disappointed as a customer another time.

Sadly, my car had to be towed to Lucid San Jose yesterday (for details, please read https://lucidowners.com/threads/my-gravity-bricked-after-3-weeks-of-ownership.14301/).
As yesterday was Sunday, I was not expecting to hear anything immediately back, but I expected to at least get a follow up call today.
Long story short, I didn't.

At 2.20pm I just decided to call them myself and I'm sure I called the service center in San Jose.
The same guy I talked to last time, did respond. Mumbling again. I also found his voicemail from last week and his name is Simon if it tells you something.
His first phrase has been "Lucid San Jose" and silence after. Where is the etiquette, where is "how can I help you" at least?
I'm not trying to be Karen here, but the guys with his attitude shouldn't be working at a Service Center of a brand that sells the cars for 100+k.

He said he has no idea what's with my car, and he said the car hasn't probably been dropped off yet.
I had to point out it had been dropped off as I was there yesterday with a tow truck driver.

After that, he said he has no idea what's with my car, but he will follow up with me once the technician inspects the car.
When I asked when is that supposed to happen. he answered "I don't know".
I asked if I can get a loaner, and he responded that they will set me up with an enterprise rental, but I haven't heard any exact dates.

I didn't even ask what car I have a chance to get, but I think this is going to be the cheapest car possible and it's going to be nowhere close to my Gravity.

As a result, my Gravity is not drivable, I don't have a car to drive and no one clearly cares.

I'm planning to do this either tomorrow or on Wednesday as communicating to this Service Advisor is absolutely disappointing, and I don't think I'll actually get anything out of him.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call on Monday from San Jose SC manager, assuring me that they would make sure to arrange me an Air loaner.

Since then, the situation has only improved. I received my Air loaner on Tuesday as promised. On Wednesday morning, I received another call informing me that my Gravity requires a battery replacement, and they are currently working on it.

They also asked if I would like to switch to a Gravity loaner, and I happily agreed. They dropped it off at my house today!

I'll admit my impression of this particular SC has completely changed since just a few days ago.
