As we all know, Tesla has been dominating the electric car market with their impressive lineup of vehicles. The Model 3, in particular, has been one of their most successful models, offering customers a more affordable option compared to their previous models. However, with the rise of competitors like Lucid Motors, who are also producing high-quality electric cars, the competition is getting tougher.

Although Lucid Motors is an emerging company in the electric car market, they have already made a name for themselves with their luxurious and high-end electric vehicles. However, one issue that customers have with Lucid is their high price point. Lucid's cars are still too expensive for the average consumer, making them less accessible than Tesla's Model 3.

Despite the competition, Tesla is not sitting idly by. The company is currently in the process of developing a new, more affordable car: the Model 2. With this new model, Tesla hopes to appeal to a wider range of customers who may not be able to afford their current models. The Model 2 is expected to be even more affordable than the Model 3, making it a more attractive option for budget-conscious consumers.

In conclusion, while Lucid Motors may be making waves in the electric car market, the company's high price point is preventing them from gaining a larger share of the market. Tesla, on the other hand, is working tirelessly to make their vehicles more affordable and accessible, and the upcoming Model 2 is a testament to that. It will be interesting to see how these two companies will continue to compete in the electric car market in the coming years.

Tesla's making a car cheaper than the garbage M3? Color me surprised.

I pretty much completely disagree with your conclusion. There are many car companies out there that don’t make cheap cars and have resounding success.

We'll see how things shake out, but Rawlinson keeps talking about how one of his primary goals is making EVs more affordable. All this focus and research on efficiency is working towards an end goal of reducing battery size, which is the largest cost of an EV. Apparently Lucid's motors are also engineered to be relatively cheap to manufacture as well. I have no guess as to if/when Lucid's "model 3 moment" is going to hit though, I don't see the upcoming Midsize being quite that, and I don't recall an even smaller/cheaper model on the radar.

Lucid has been been more concerned with upper end luxury Ev segment. They will likely pivot to the 50K car adding this as an option at some point. There isn’t really much competition between the two companies Tesla has sold 6 million cars to date. Lucid has sold somewhere near 10k. Will be interesting over the next year or so to see what the sales are for the entry-level lucid pure.

The new M3 highland is a pretty sweet car for the price point.
I'm not sure I would call it a "sweet" car. It's a very basic car. An electric Corolla.

Have you driven it or sat it one? Definitely not a Corolla. The older model three I would agree, but not this one. Much more comparable to the current model S.

There's no shame in sticking to the premium/luxury segment. The Polestar CEO just yesterday reaffirmed the Polestar will not go cheaper than the 2:

"The portfolio that we have starts at the Polestar 2 price level and it goes all the way up to you know where 5 and 6 will be," he said, referring to an upcoming sedan and sports car. "The mass market is not our market."

He added, "If you go there, fine, but it's a completely different game. You have to be clear about the nature of your company. And for us, it's that premium, exclusive, performance segment."

You’re right. My apologies, the Corolla is much nicer.

There are ‘cheap’ cars and there are affordable ones There are also affordable, ‘cheap’ cars. Lucid will never make a ‘cheap’ car, but they may someday make a more affordable one.

That was definitely written by ChatGPT.
Yup, those stupid paragraph transitions totally gave it away (in conclusion, although, etc). ChatGPT is ALWAYS very obvious, and that’s why everybody who uses it at my school easily gets caught.

Even Corolla has no rattles or squeaks and has much better interior, fit and finish.

Any Lucid smaller sedan if at all will probably be more higher end than Ioniq 6 sedan which is far better than Model 3.

Well
My college age daughter commutes daily and the new Highland model 3 = no squeaks/ no rattles/ no panel issues/ nice interior/ great Dd
I’ve spent some time in it and it’s quality car. When people talk fit and finish go look at some of the pictures of Ferraris being posted of the 296 Roma lol. Have a long history with EV’s so I’m quite sure what I expect……..
It’s funny mention any positive about Tesla and this creates so much insecurity for many. Carry on. I like my GT I will leave it at that. Roll - Tide

M3 has made great stride in the latest Highland refresh. Some call in ‘Baby S’ because of its rear entertainment screen and recess light. It’s a good compact sedan EV and is in different category with Air. It’s pretty descent for your daughter college commute car, but not for me. 😆
