Cruise/drive assist speed has to be set everytime?

Could you make your current speed also be the speed you want before restarting? That way no reset needed?
In most cases no, because I legitimately needed to use the brakes (ie exiting freeway, and then I turn it back on the side road, DDPro in the Gravity does lane keeping on regular streets), or getting cut off.

Yeah in the Gravity if you use brakes to cancel ACC it totally cancels everything and clears everything. Then I hit the button on the wheel to restart, and it picks up your current speed. Which usually means I have to reset to the speed I actually want, although with the new update the button is sensitive and works 100% of the time and quickly.
thats exactly why I made this post in the first place. but I feel this changed somewhat with 3.4.1?

I need to test this again I guess but I feel if you drive and lets say you engage ACC at 47mph .. if you break its canceled but when pressed the ACC button again I believe it just jumped back to 47 and I didnt drive 47 or the posted speed + 5mph (what I have setup in my settings) would not have been 47. Did they change this and it now actually does work as a "resume" to your last set speed.

So, in your case it sounds like you have your cruising speed set to "Current Speed".
Therefore, after braking to exit and then turning back onto another road, you then accelerate to the speed you want, which becomes your current speed, and then you restart ACC and your current speed as your cruising speed. That's my thinking.

Correct. I have gotten used to it, I did just prefer that in my Air Touring I could just hit a resume button and it would go back to the previous speed before it got canceled.

Yes, please test again and report back.

Not sure how you originally arrived at 47 mph before engaging ACC.
Based on your settings, theoretically the posted speed limit would have been 40 mph, add on the 5 mph offset and you're at 45 mph, followed by two taps up on the left side button to increase your cruising speed to 47. Just a guess.

The big question is how ACC put you back at 47 mph after previously canceling.
The manual says upon reactivation of ACC "the last set desired speed will resume for the same posted speed limit".
In your case, with your settings, that would be 45 mph, not 47.
If ACC is putting you back at 47, that's interesting, but also it's what some owners are wanting.

Your testing may help with the discussion of what last set desired speed means when the manual says "last set desired speed will resume for the same posted speed limit".

For me, that last desired speed for the same posted speed limit is established in the ACC settings. That has been my experience.

If I have my ACC settings for my cruising speed to be based on "Posted Speed" with a 3 mph offset, then my last set desired speed for that same speed limit is going to be the last posted speed limit plus my 3 mph offset, assuming the posted speed limit has not changed. Now if I manually increase my cruising speed beyond that 3 mph offset (thus manually creating a new offset), I haven't experienced the system remembering that manually created offset.

Mine doesn't, I just tested it again last night after the comments on this post. At least when the Gravity is set to current speed for ACC pressing the brake to disengage ACC and then turning it on again applies the current speed. I haven't tested it for the other settings yet though.

I just tested today. There is no “resume” capability that restores your previously set speed. There are two modes:
  1. Set to current speed when ACC is engaged. Ignore speed limit changes.
  2. Set to speed limit + offset when ACC is engaged. Automatically adjust for speed limit changes.
The “Max” speed indicator tells you what speed the ACC will be set to when you engage.

Slowing down for curves is an independent setting that works in both modes.

On Air, you have to push up on the left steering wheel dial. If you just press the button, it will engage at current speed. If you twist up, it will go to the last speed you had set.

Maybe Gravity has something similar? How are you all re-engaging the acc?

The Gravity has one button for turning on ACC/DDPro (single or double click for the two modes, configurable which is single and which is double), and once on, toggles between ACC and DDPro. There is a second button for turning it off. There is nothing for “resume” to the last set speed.

The behavior of ACC/DDPro is in a settings menu.

ok so I thought I am crazy and tested this again this morning and gladly I am not. It works for me as I wrote before and now it is more of a resume.

posted speed limit is 40. I have set speed limit +5. So when I turn on ACC it sets it at 45, as long as I drive less than 45. if I go 48 and hitt ACC, it sets it at 48. I brake and let it fall down to 30. I hit ACC and its set to 48! and not 45. when I brake it even shows the MAX 48 greyed out for setting the speed.

I do want to say, IF you brake and ACC disangages and during that time its not engaged you hit a different posted speed limit, it changes it whatever setting you have. in my case I hit a 25mph sign and it showed then 30mph if I would have reenaged ACC. Now that I think about it, is interesting since I have "Automatic Crusing Speed update" disabled but I guess that setting is for when ACC is active.

I will try to make a video next time, my wife wasnt able to capture this properly lol.

Interesting.
Thanks for the update.

I have been driving with ACC on in a 65 mph area at a cruising speed of 68 mph (I have 3 mph offset), then manually increased my cruising speed to 71 mph and noticed 71 showing as the max. I then disengaged ACC and saw the max 71 greyed out. Never thought much of the grayed out max and I don't recall the cruising speed when I reengaged ACC. I don't use it a lot, but will test today.

That's what grayed out (or crossed out) CC speed usually means on most cars -- suspended CC speed rather than cancelled (which goes away completely). The way to resume the suspended speed varies by car model though.

So the brake suspends while the button cancels? I try not to hit the brakes at all so I never tested disengaging with brakes. Will try this out.

thats right, and that as far as I can remember didn exist before 3.4.1

I tried both, braking or the cancel button does the same for me. it just suspends it now.

i think thats what they added/changed in 3.4.1 this wasn't the case before, it would have been just gone if you hit the brake or cancel.

Latest test results:

Confirmation on what @NerviG experienced along with an additional note that may explain why some are not having the same experience.
Posted speed limit is 65. As long as I'm below or at 65, when I engage ACC my cruising speed is 68 (with my 3 mph offset); continually.
If I disengage ACC and accelerate above 68 to 71 and reengage ACC, 71 becomes my new cruising speed for the 65 mph posted speed limit.
I can continually disengage/reengage ACC when the posted speed limit is 65 and 71 is my cruising speed.

I usually just tap up on the left side button and increase my cruising speed to say 71, instead of going through the disengage/reengage process; more straight forward.
And each time afterwards, if I have to disengage and then reengage ACC, that increased cruising speed (71) would resume.
I think that's why I didn't realize this other way (disengage/reengage) of setting a new cruising speed.

Here's the additional note. If I disengage ACC (brake pedal or X button) for whatever reason and turn onto a road with a different speed limit, the car recognizes the new posted speed limit (45) and shows the new max as 48 (3 mph offset). I can then repeat the same procedure stated above with ACC and the 65 posted speed limit. However, when I return to a road with a speed limit of 65, the car does not remember the previous cruising speed of 71 as the cruising speed for the 65 posted speed limit. It defaults back to 68, due to my 3 mph offset. As long as the posted speed limit doesn't change, the car will remember the previously set new cruising speed for a previous posted speed limit.

As for the grayed out max speed; it always showing next to the speed limit, even before ACC is ever used. It shows me the maximum speed I've driven.
I can be driving 29 in a 25 speed zone and 29 is shown as the max.
Even when I was cruising at the new cruising speed of 71, if I accelerated to 75, then 75 would show as the max.
As long as I didn't disengage/reengage, 71 remained my cruising speed.

My takeaway from this is it's just easier for me to engage ACC, let my preset max for the posted speed limit kick in, and manually up my crusing speed using the left side button.
If I want to resume that speed after disengageing ACC, as long as the posted speed limit hasn't changed, I can do so.
I don't always want to resume my previous cruising speed for a posted speed limit. The traffic flow may be different.
If I want to resume, I engage ACC and tap up to increase my cruising speed.
If the tapping bothers me, I'll just increase my offset from 3 mph.
