Lucid Motors has suspended the ability for customers to configure new Air sedans on its website, redirecting prospective buyers to its existing inventory of new, demo, and pre-owned vehicles instead.
The change affects all versions of the luxury electric sedan except the fully equipped $249,000 Air Sapphire, which remains available in its fixed configuration.
The rest of the Air lineup—comprising the Pure, Touring, and Grand Touring trims—starts at $69,900 and climbs to $110,900, excluding taxes and fees.
As of this week, clicking “Order” on Lucid’s website now leads buyers to a selection of ready-to-deliver models, including dozens of 2025 Air Pure units when searching for inventory in Casa Grande, Arizona — where Lucid has its EV plant.
After factoring in the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, the entry-level trim of the Lucid Air is priced from $63,975.
Lucid has not publicly justified or announced the decision to halt build-to-order options, though it comes amid speculation of an upcoming refresh to boost competitiveness in the premium EV segment.
In Germany, customers are currently still able to configure a Lucid Air with prices starting from €85,000, equivalent to $96,500.
The company last updated the Air in late 2024 with improvements to efficiency, hardware, and standard features.
The 2025 Air Pure features a slightly smaller 84.0-kWh battery, down from 88.0-kWh, but gains an extra mile of range for an EPA-rated 420 miles—making it the most energy-efficient EV on sale, according to Lucid, with a rating of 146 MPGe.
Additional upgrades across the Air lineup include a standard climate-control heat pump borrowed from the Sapphire, enhanced infotainment hardware, and expanded driver-assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera system.
The Grand Touring model now includes Lucid’s upgraded Surreal Sound Pro audio system. All trims also come with a complimentary two-year or 24,000-mile scheduled maintenance package.
Lucid continues to offer several financial incentives. The “Conquest Offer” provides $2,000 off for buyers switching from a combustion or hybrid vehicle—limited to 24 premium and luxury brands, including Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche.
A separate $1,000 discount applies to inventory units, and leasing incentives can reach up to $20,500, with financing as low as 1.99% APR. These offers run through May 31.
Leases for 36 months begin at $579/month for the Air Pure, $599 for the Touring, and $849 for the Grand Touring, with $5,389 due at signing for the base model.
In early May, Lucid doubled its U.S. trade-in bonus for Tesla owners to $4,000 across 12 states. The automaker has also trialed similar incentives in Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, though only Canada received an extension alongside the U.S.
According to Motor Intelligence data, Lucid registered 820 vehicles in the U.S. in April, including just five units of the Gravity SUV as it continues its production ramp-up.
