Is there any option to have anything more than a digital speed display in front of the steering-feel that there is so much blank display space that could be used for more engaging display. I know some people love the minimalistic look but was hoping in the gravity they may have offered some customization to make the main display in front of the driver have more options.
 
Not currently, no.

i agree it looks weird. There's this huge screen a mile wide, and two thirds of it is just blank. I hope they add some options or ... something ... to fill in that space.
 
I wanna have the option to see the traffic surrounding me even if not using Dream Drive

There's plenty of space to eventually go apple watch on it with different Complications and Faces with retro speedometers, weather on your route, and such. Hopefully that's on the someday backlog as they work through stability.

Honestly with as much screen as there is I'd love to see them go the CarPlay Ultra route some day. Maybe they'll surprise us.

While I agree, I think there must be a reason no manufacturer has done this. Perhaps it's difficult to offer a large variety of dashboard options without running up against some outdated safety regulations.

Have you been in a BMW, Audi or Mercedes lately?

I'm hoping that when they start expanding DD2Pro to (supposedly) 5 lanes etc., some of that space is used. Otherwise it is an odd choice to have all that real estate for no reason.
 
Can they just do a better job of anti-aliasing the charging/power "wheel" display. The jaggies are just embarrassing!
Can they not make this smoother looking???

As if drivers aren't already distracted enough now. :)

I honestly think some drivers are just plain bored while driving and decide "If I've gotta sit here and drive, I'm might as well be doing something else as well"; multitasking.

A "more engaging display" as if looking where you're going, staying aware of the potential actions of other drivers (possibly distracted), observing traffic signs/signals, road hazards, etc. isn't engaging enough. Engaging aka entertaining. The need for dopamine activation moves to the 6000 lbs. ev rolliing down the road.

Distracted/drowsy driving alerts can be disabled.
It's just so human that the very technologies intended to save our lives can be disabled because we can't be bothered with those sounds or visuals. However, we do want a more engaging display. Companies, like Lucid, know this so the owner's manual is loaded with disclaimers; especially with DreamDrive features. I don't blame them one bit. If there is one thing people are good at, it's blaming others for their own bad decisions. Bring on the lawsuits.

It is absolutely amazing the accidents I've seen where people were looking at a screen, blew through a red light, and t-boned or barely avoided another driver. The unfortunate reality is that there are some horrible drivers on the road, but they somehow managed to get a license to drive.

As long as the digital detox/zen mode, previously mentioned by Lucid officials, becomes available, I'm fine with whatever people want. Go for it. The phrase "stay safe" is definitely an oxymoron, but I'll say it "Ya'll stay safe with your engaging displays, just try not to kill anyone while you're engaged".

Utterly absurd comment. Wanting different display options has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH DISTRACTED DRIVING.

It doesn't seem absurd or ridiculous to me; two things can be true at once. It can both be true that a more 'engaging' display is more distracting (it is; studies have been done on this and you can look them up) and it can be true that people want more 'busy' / 'engaging' options for the dash.

What you have here is a difference of opinion, chaps, not absurdity. :P

Nah. Completely absurd.
 
As long as it allows options to configure, I'd be fine. But personally, I feel plenty distracted...I mean "engaged" by the controls we have between all the screens. I actually would love to have a true Zen mode that turned off everything except that most important info in front of the wheel. Make it a one-click for night driving. "Wasted space?" Nah...less is more sometimes.

As far as what info to include, I've always found it interesting what different cars include. I think it was my old Passport that had a button for MPH/km...ha ha. As if most drivers need this all the time and quickly need to change regularly. It should have been burned in menus and not a button on the dash.

You expressed interest in options or "something" to fill in the space. Depending on what that something is (e.g. more text/visuals to read and comprehend), the potential for distracted driving definitely exist.

Absurd and ridiculous? Fortunately that's just an opinion.

People who say they can text while driving say the same. Unfortunately, that's a fact.
 
I doubt that 34" screen is there to always be filled with text or visuals, especially during driving. Sanctuary mode and DreamConnect Premium content will use that screen, when the car is not being driven.

Clarification: People swerving on the road while texting, when told they shouldn't text and drive say the same.
 
Agreed, very much looking forward to any customization on the glass cockpit display. I find the "windshield wiper" power/charge graphic distracting and poorly rendered. Much prefer something like the GM or Audi dash display designs, which offer a degree of customization along with relevant info.
