Cccv2 upgrade

Ah hem…meanwhile back at the v1 & v2 thread…I have gone back and forth. I look at this update like updating computer hardware. Keep hearing about u3.0 and how v1 will croak on it but will be given lite updates to keep going. V2 however will be able to handle whatever u3 throws at it. So is this like Apple moving from Intel to their own Silicon (M series processors)? Or is it just a chip and ram update to accommodate future infotainment system upgrades? I’m pretty sure it will have nothing to do with DDP capability but from the literature I’ve seen it appears that the new midsize (Cosmos, Earth, etc…) will be the only models to implement L4 mind off driving (for $199 a month as Lucid joins the subscription bandwagon).

So shall I have a v2 put in my AT? Still on the fence and arguments about “quicker” and “snappier” sounds more like marketing for whatever new phone has just come out. At the moment my v1 chip is functioning and driving the infotainment system fine. A big negative for me is all the resetting that goes into the new v2 — homelink, WiFi, face recog, etc… That means right now laziness wins out unless the mystical u3.0 provides an improved driving experience that is worth the time (the only REAL currency humans have) and money. Guess time will tell.

I noticed an increase in speed in loading and ysing the entertainment features but haven’t driven the car yet. However, I did a reset and got this error message (“heater requires service”) that I cannot clear by additional resets. Will contact service later today.
The service tech said that this is a coincidence and unrelated to the chip upgrade. He's looking into next steps.

I had new part installed shortly after it was available with a short mobile service visit. It was based on my trust that Lucid wants us to have the optimal experience with future OTAs. I ordered my AGT in April 2022 with the expectation that there would be challenges, as there are for even established car companies with new models, much less a new company with a clean sheet vehicle. For me, keeping my experience in that context is important to my expectations. I have zero doubt that the intentions of governance and management are aligned with our best interests. Yes, implementation has been challenging, but the bottom line is that I have enjoyed the best driving and ownership experience since my first new high-end car 25 years ago. FWIW, and for perspective my only automotive experience with perfection was with a new Porsche Turbo S that was bulletproof on the road and track.

Right, no harm in waiting if you are on the fence.

He suggested trying more resets which I tried and the heater is not working. He is going to order a replacement and let me know when he can replace it.

The heater is a known hardware failure point in early Airs and once on a while in later cars as well. At one time, Lucid added diagnostic software to directly detect the issue. Some uninformed owners blamed the software since the error popped up after they installed the OTA with the new diagnostic.

Also, seemingly every third update or so, some say that their car's regeneration braking has changed with the OTA and a few curse Lucid for changing it without mentioning it in the release notes. I've never felt any difference and think it has never changed. Lucid's OTAs seen to get blamed for the phase of the moon sometimes.

Correct, it does not affect ADAS at all.

The rest is accurate, though it’s not “Lucid silicon,” but a much more modern chip than the v1, which was a very old chip (in part due to how long the Air took between design and prod, as I understand it).

Thanks for the info! Our car has been super reliable so this is the first time a part has needed to be replaced. The car is in central Florida now so we don’t use the heater much other than the defroster occasionally to remove the condensation when the interior temperature is significantly different from the ambient temperature.

The regen thing gets me every time, lol. New folks will join the forum after a new update and swear up and down regen has changed.

Every time. Lol

Lucid does a poor job of getting people to understand that regen strength varies based on state of charge, and if I remember correctly, a few other things…

It IS potentially different, drive to drive…

It’s gotten better (there are warnings about it now and there’s an indicator on the speedometer) but I agree.

Agreed; this is what is happening, in my estimation. But it has nothing to do with OTAs changing regen “every other OTA” :p

That’s all I mean; I don’t mean to imply regen is always the same no matter the conditions.

So, what did I miss?

I seem to remember that on February 3 or so we were told by Nick/Lucid the CCV2 would be available in the referral points store. A plethora of discussion on this thread in March. Then nothing, and the thread meanders.

So, four months later, and I have not seen anything but speculation or kerfuffle.

Did I miss any news?

They changed their mind 😅

Sorry if I came off as flippant. Here is the latest "official" communication that I could find regarding CCCV2 and the reward store...

Post in thread 'Air Transition to UX3, to be or not to be!' https://lucidowners.com/threads/air-transition-to-ux3-to-be-or-not-to-be.15864/post-348362
No worries! I totally got your flippant-ness (sp) 😊 And thanks so much for the link to the other thread. I did not know about it. Not that it provided great news but at least, as of a half a month ago, this was still being discussed.

I had that error last fall and it required a new part that had to be ordered. If it hadn’t been fall, winter I would have waited for the part. But since it was that time of year … the replacement was done at the house.

It seems to me if you wait until UX3 is released the demand for the new CCV2 upgrade will make it even more difficult to get done in a timely manner. Given the improvements already documented for the upgrade, I scheduled the install for July 12, which was 2 months away from the day I scheduled it.

I guess that all depends on how well the software team does with 3.0.

I scheduled the CCV2 upgrade and my second annual maintenance with six weeks' lead time. They said at the time that the part was in stock. I'm now given a 2-7 weeks guesstimate for completion. No loaners, so I got a crappy Audi SUV from Enterprise. I told the service advisor that I'd rather keep my car, let them call me with 20 minutes notice, and I'd bring it down when they're ready to work on it, but the idea was a non-starter. Maybe I shouldn't have scheduled them at the same time?
