Buying secondhand Gravity Dream Edition

I’m considering buying a secondhand Dream Edition with low miles. A couple questions for the community:

1. It’s an early build (first 50). Am I potentially buying into a bug-filled mine field with this? Have most of the issues with the early builds been software and I’m safe with the hardware or have there been hardware updates as well?

2. The Lucid rep is telling me the first owner didn’t enable to DD Pro and SS Pro so while the HW exists on the vehicle I’d have to pay more to Lucid. I’ve never heard of this (the car has a window sticker with $140k so assumed all was paid upfront). Anyone have experience with this? Want to believe the best from Lucid but can’t help feeling like the rep is trying to shift me to buying from them. I can get a loaded GT for roughly the same price.

I would go with the GGT - Mine fully loaded was about $124K. You'll have more color & leather choices. You'll give up some acceleration and lower range. I gave up my GDE build, because the GGT that I order was being built first. Also, as other forum members, who have had early GDEs, will attest, the earlier models had problems, which are still not resolved.

Yeah I have the same question. I’m being told I’d have to pay to enable the PRO versions of DD and SS. The standard is enabled. I didn’t think you could buy these cars and selectively decide what to enable vs not

Right. Maybe they are doing the same thing like Tesla, where they disable the FSD and charge you for it when they resell the car.

Did he say how much?
If a lot, I’d go with GGT.
The extra hp in the Dream is palpable to me, or my imagination.
 
I think they are referring to the subscription-based services. Like Tesla Premium connectivity for $10 per month. Not sure, though, but that was appears when searched with Perplexity AI tool.
 
Seems like there have been improvements with build quality since the early DEs were delivered. I'd try to get a newer build GGT if I were you.
 
I'm with @The_Don on this one. My recently built vehicle does not seem to have virtually any of the earlier production vehicles. Personally, I would be more wary of the hardware and build process improvements than the software.

This 100% should not be true. This is a used DE being sold through Lucid directly? I'd go over his head honestly, the DE came with all options standard and there was no such thing as having to enable it.

My DDPro GT just has it, there was no software to enable at all for it not to be available.

Lucid should stand behind the hardware for the warranty duration. We didn't have any serious problems until recently and they were fixed professionally. (See my recent posts.) The software bugs, of course, are universal to every build. If you really want the extra hp of a DE (vs a fully-loaded GT) I think it should be safe -- but not sure how to value. I'd definitely expect a discount vs original price.

No. DEs have all options installed and enbled. This is a confused (or worse) sales person. I am not aware of Lucid doing the Tesla thing of stripping SW-flagged options during their CPO process.

That is not a thing Lucid does, to my knowledge.

It's hard to be certain exactly how many hardware revisions have been made by Lucid over the last 6 months, but we definitely do know that Lucid has been making hardware tweaks. But the good news is that we know this because owners have been getting components replaced with newer versions when needed to solve problems. So I wouldn't necessarily refuse to buy an early build Dream Edition, but you might expect to have more headaches with troubleshooting and service visits from such a vehicle. If you really want the extra power of a GDE, then you don't have a lot of options. But for a GGT you have options, and I personally would lean towards getting a new build.

I don't know if they still are but I was told when I picked up my GGT last week that there were still 2 new GDEs available in the system.

Not like those features actually work anyways, the Gravity essentially has cruise crontrol with nominal lane keep at best right now.

Huh? DD2 Pro in our Gravity handles steering, adaptive cruise control, will make lane changes, and will suggest lane changes, will add room on the left or right when passing a truck…

Is it perfect? No. But it definitely works.
