Lucid Gravity GT
I had sent my lucid gravity for their seat recall and other error messages I was getting and a slow degraded charging fault.

1. I am in South Carolina and it was picked up by lucid hired 3rd party company with pickup on Monday. They did not show up till Tuesday to pickup the gravity. Instead of taking the car directly from florence, sc to Atlanta, GA the transportation company took my Gravity to Raleigh,NC left it overnight in an open field. I called the transportation company and asked why and was told to make economical sense to pickup another car 😒. How does it make sense taking my car to opposite direction hundreds of miles and leave it in the open. They did not deliver it to lucid service center till Thursday early morning.

2. My Gravity sat at the lot till today after 10 days( I was informed that it might be a while before they can take my Gravity in for service) .

3. Today I got a call from the SC that they are looking into other issues but one of the sensors is damaged and I have to pay for it out of pocket, per the advisor they are made fragile and that even a piece of rock or small sand particles can damage it and it is not under warranty. Lucid you know that you are using fragile parts then you should cover that under warranty. When she sent me Picture from the SC I claimed that I had no such damage on my vehicle. And questioned if it could have happened during transportation.

4. I was advised that anything happened during transportation i have to file my own claim and get with the transportation company, what? I did not hire them, lucid did, you should handle that in house. When i told them I did not want the same company transporting my Gravity back they told me they do not make that decision and call customer service. I am going to request it with a claim to CS but doubt they will care.

So if you are getting your lucid for service be ready to spend time and effort for things that you cannot control and file your own claims. Good luck, got a $400+ bill for something that lucid knows they are using fragile parts.

I told them there were no scratches like on the picture and even have the pictures from pickup company posted during pickup.
"Call customer service and file a claim with the transportation company"

I have no complaints with their communications, they were upfront with the timing expectations but lucid should do better than this. Am I buying another lucid. Nope, if this is the way this goes.

My car history multiple Toyotas and hondas, first EV BMW ix, Mercedes EQS, tesla model y, BMW X7, tesla model X.

You don’t even want to know what goes on with car shipping. It’s a bunch of cars. Your car can get loaded and unloaded many times. Mine has been shipped 6 times and three of my wheels were messed up from shipping straps (lucid handled the worst one at my request though). It’s not a fun industry!

Sorry about the rest though hope your car gets fixed.

I kept a track, he took the car to Raleigh,NC left in an open filed. Then traveled a few hundred miles and left in an open spot again for most of the day. I called the transportation company and they kept defending the driver's actions of roaming around and leaving my car in the open, which they did not believe me, then when I told them I have screenshot of the car and map they were like it can be false tracking information. I said I am not using their tracking I am tracking my car directly. Then the tone suddenly changed and asked for proof which I emailed them.

If you’re referring to the ultrasonic sensors, they are not “fragile,” but they are prone to being hit by a rock which can damage them.

This is true on every single vehicle that has ultrasonic sensors, and is not at all unique to Lucid.

The bit about transport is a different (and totally valid) issue.

"Fragile" was the term used by lucid service center to describe the sensors.

I imagine they are made by Bosch, the sensor used by many others. They are more fragile than the bumper material next to them.

Every cars ultrasound sensor is fragile…..go look at other cars. Try hitting them with a rock and see what happens. It’s not that Lucid is the only company using fragile US sensors- it’s the industry norm.

Uhh may I offer some counter-advice - don't go looking at other cars and hitting them with rocks to see what happens 😅

Paint film thickness on the sensor would affect the sonar signal, so it has to be remain thin.

Sadly, vehicle transport companies some of the worst liars in the business. Generally they couldn't care less about the cars they're transporting and are sketchy at best.

That's fine; they can also be wrong. :)

They are certainly more susceptible to damage (i.e. "fragile") as compared to the plastic material and aluminum around it on the rest of the car. You could argue it is even more "fragile" than the glass.

But they aren't "fragile" in general, just relative to the rest of the vehicle.

And, more importantly: they are literally the same sensors as on every other vehicle that has ultrasonic sensors, so by that token, every single car (other than Teslas, which only have "fragile" cameras ;) ) is riding around with fragile ultrasonic sensors. :)

I am looking to replace my 2022 AGT. Main reason I haven't already gone with a new AGT is concerns over service (I'm in Albuquerque). Don't want to give up the range but don't want the repair headaches either. So for now I'll stick with what I have.

Those sensor are fragile regardless of make. Many have answered this already on FB.

Hmmm..I would define "headache" as having a Lucid vehicle that's out of warranty
It seems to me the SC's are working through their backlog and things are getting a bit better.

San Jose SC (one of the busiest) orig gave me an appt for late August but then called me up to lmk they could move me up a month.

To be fair, I had a rock hit dead center of a front sensor on my Lucid Air when it was only 7 months old (happened in Arizona on I17 heading north to drive back home to Chicago). It was a freak thing but I fully understood that it was not a warranty issue. I filed a comprehensive claim that paid the then $439 invoice to replace it. A sensor is pretty sensitive on any car and this can happen on anything else just as easily from my perspective.
