Battery temp and "Regenerative braking reduced" warning

In winter and high summer, does this "manage the battery temp" include some heating and cooling, separate from triggering the "preconditioning" operation?

I guess I mean, then, does the battery conditioning (heating/cooling) system operate automatically when plugged in during extreme climate conditions? Or is there a setting to put it on, to ask it to do so?

Thanks!!
Preconditioning is intended to be used solely for fast charging. It doesn't necessarily keep the battery at the optimal rest temp, but it keeps it at the optimal temp to absorb more energy. Those can be, but are not necessarily, the same temperature range.

Plugging it in allows the car to condition the battery to remain in the proper range of temperatures.

Not as far as I can tell. The only thing plugging in seems to do is keep the battery charged at the level you configured. I’ve yet to see any battery temp management. In fact I’ve found that charging at home has caused the Regen warning to come on more often, my assumption is because the car cools the battery while charging. Anecdotally not charging seems to keep the battery warmer. 🤷‍♂️
