Automatic cabin ventilation

Once upon a time, Audi promoted the Solar Sunroof option for the A6 and A8 models. It was essentially an automatic cabin ventilation system that operated without drawing power from the main battery or starting the engine when the car was parked in the sun for a long time and started to overheat.

I feel like a feature like this should be mandatory in all EVs, since the power consumption would be negligible (just running the fans without the A/C), yet it would keep the cabin air from getting so hot thanks to continuous circulation.

In an ideal world, though, it would be great to have the ability to create custom automation scenarios (for users who clearly have too much time on their hands ).

Cabin overheat runs at 90° or 100° cabin temp depending on your preference. It can also run with just fans and no AC. It cycles on and off. I believe creature comfort mode runs continually.

Kind of odd its not standard feature. Or, as a previous owner of a Tesla, am I conditioned to think the car NEEDS this feature? Especially now in AZ, I always come out to my car at 140+ degrees inside.

If I had a functional Lucid app (sadly I don’t 3 weeks into ownership but service is scheduled for July ) I would just turn the AC on a bit before I am ready to depart. I also believe you can set precondition temps/times for the vehicle?

My workaround when I visited my in laws yesterday in Palm Desert was to go out and turn keep mode on 15 minutes before we wanted to leave. Worked fine.

Just wondered, since I started ownership, if it is really necessary to keep it below a certain heat threshold or if its just to keep your car a comfortable level so you don't need to precondition the AC/Heat before getting in.

In a Tesla it didn't really work that great, but they cool down really fast. On the list of features (for me) that would be towards the bottom of what I'm waiting for.

Definitely waaaay down there on the wants and needs list for the app/car.

In UAE the temperature is 110~120F now. When I leave the car for an hour or two, I always turn the keep mode on, it uses around 1% an hour.
One might feel it's a waste, but it's better than others keeping the engine running.

I have started experimenting with an unofficial library: https://github.com/borski/ha-lucidmotors. It uses a reverse-engineered gRPC protocol to mimic how the official Lucid app communicates with cloud servers. Initial testing shows it provides sufficient functionality to control climate as well as some other settings remotely and retrieve a variety of useful data. I wrote a simple app that has "Sleep" and "Office" modes - the former allows the car to enter deep sleep if the temperature is within a specific range, and the latter keeps the power outlets active.

I use the pre-cooling feature down here all the time but yes they absolutely should include a cabin overheat protection setting like Tesla. That saved me so many times back in the day when i forgot to manually do it. I also feel like its could possible extend the life of some internal components when you're talking 120 degree plus cabin temps that we reach down here in peak summer.

My application operates via a proxy server that constantly monitors the vehicle's state by sending requests through the Lucid Server. One of the issues is that the sensor temperatures stop updating when the car is asleep. To address this, I wake up the car once an hour to check the temperature, and if it exceeds a certain threshold, I trigger the ventilation. The wake-up frequency can be adjusted based on the time of day and ambient temperature—for instance, there is no need to wake the car between sunset and dawn. If you want to avoid waking the car altogether, you could build something using a separate microcontroller that monitors the temperature more frequently and sends this data via its own modem to the proxy server, which then decides whether the car needs to be cooled down.

Good point, but I've found the window vent feature to be quite unreliable (at least for me) - sometimes the windows open much wider than intended, which makes me hesitant to rely on it.

It might be a calibration issue, but that wasn't fully resolved during my last service visit. Fan-only cooling is certainly effective, but unfortunately, I don't see the necessary API to disable the A/C via the app.

Edit: oh, you mean to disable the A/C and leave fans on, duh. Right. I've just done that manually in the car before turning Keep on.

I thought it cracks the windows, but it doesn't switch the circulation fan on, am I wrong?
