In December Lucid told me iPhone Mobile App could only be used with one user profiled log in ID for the car even if multiple drivers. Ie multiple people and devices sharing one credential.

That setup is a “No No” ( my sources are multiple: graduate degreed and/or faculty positions at Stanford, Carnegie Mellon and MIT as well as an author of award winning book on computer security. )

So my wife refuses to install the Lucid app and use my ID.

Has this limitation changed ?

We have two fobs, and they register us as individuals.

Two cards - but not sure if they register individually . Do they?

Are we up to an app having individual credential/preference log ins in September 2025?

Does Mobile key mimic the individual fob if it’s on a different device (iPhone)?

Or is it linked to the app log in?

Last, how does the app handle the second vehicle?

Is it selectable with quick selection, or time consuming handshakes ( or potential ATT cell failure delays)?

Slightly off topic - I understand that Gravity finally comes with or can have two fobs. Do they link to two separate driver profiles? Or just one.

As a teacher this individual user profile bit may not be handled in the 101 course ( where fobs are) but it’s still first year in 102.

No. You still need to share an account. That said, you are sharing an account for a single vehicle; while it’s not ideal from a security perspective, it’s not like you’re sharing it with an entire team. In terms of threat surface, it’s not all that different from you simply having two phones.

Sort of. They are all linked to the car as “valid creds.”

Once you are in the vehicle, you can link the key fobs to your individual profiles. In the Gravity, you can also link key cards to individual profiles. In the Air, you cannot, today.

Nope.

It does not mimic a fob; it is a separate credential, linked to both the vehicle and your local device (phone).

Or is it linked to the app log in?

Er, kind of. It is stored locally on the device, but you can’t set it up and pair without being logged in. That is, if you set up mobile key on your phone and your wife sets it up on hers, you have two entirely separate new sets of credentials. You can then link your individual mobile keys to your in-car profiles.

It is a quick selection, but the app does not wake the second car up in the background. That is, once you select the dropdown, it will wake up the second vehicle, so you do face potential ATT delays.

That said, this does *not* apply to mobile key, which does not use the cellular or internet - it is Bluetooth, and local, and does not require you to select a vehicle or anything.

Separate, just like the Air. Keycards also link separately, which is an improvement.

Haha I hear ya. In this case, while it’s not good architecture, it’s not actually that bad of an issue, since you’re only sharing it with a trusted partner. That said, it doesn’t work for something like a company fleet, for obvious reasons.
