Anyone having problems charging with Tesla (DC and AC)?

Started last night at a Tesla SC station where I could not get the Gravity to charge either plug and charge or via the Tesla app. Plug and charge kept giving me a comma error and using the app just didn’t seem to even see the car. Never had issues with several times using SC stations before. Then today at our hotel, they had destination chargers and I’m getting the same error. J1772 and CCS charging (EA) have worked perfectly fine. Just wondering if it’s my car, my app or something else greater going on.

I forgot that many had mentioned that the older Tesla chargers (which my hotel has) don’t work with Gravity without changing the amperage (on the unit itself I believe, as changing it in the car didn’t do anything for me). Now just got to figure out the Supercharger issue…

I couldn't get Tesla destination charging to work with my Gravity at a recent hotel stay either, though Model 3's and Y's had no issue with them.
Interestingly, one of the two old Chargepoint L2 EVSEs at the same hotel worked fine, though another one didn't - but that one was able to charge another EV (forgot which one).
A different set of destination chargers at the next hotel worked fine.

Some destination chargers are still set (intentionally or accidentally) to “Tesla only.” Interestingly, the LCHCS also lets you limit the charging to “Lucid only” or a specific vehicle.

But yeah, lots of folks install it that way and then forget about it.

There are so many variables; I’ve always found destination chargers a crapshoot. I just head out 20-30 min earlier than I’d otherwise need to, usually.

Yeah I wasted at least an hour trying to find a working destination charger at that first hotel

The destination chargers here worked for my wife’s EV9 as well as the Teslas I’ve seen using it no problem. When I hook Gravity up, they don’t like it

Hmm, the EV9 AC charges at 11kW max. Could that be a factor?
Except I reduced the current limit on my Gravity to 24A, and the destination stations still errored our after a few seconds each time.

I reduced the amps on mine below that and still didn’t work. I think it’s something on the charger itself that has to be changed. And my wife’s EV9 is getting about 10kw and smiling smugly at my Gravity looking all sad and juiceless. There’s an EA right across the street, so it’s all good but free sure is hard to beat…

I've tried 5 in the last 24 hours. Just says CABLE CONNECTED then does nothing. Another fail by Lucid. I've charged our Porsche Macan on these same chargers, using my Teslatap adapter.

Anyone tried using 2 adapters? NACS-to-J1772, and then back to NACS? I wonder if that might fool it? I didn't bring my Teslatap on this trip to try it.

Unfortunately it's the older destination chargers. If the hotel has the older units, there's a good chance they wont work on Gravity. Some hotels I've stayed at have the newer universal units and those work just fine, but the older ones that only have the NACS connector, are unlikely to work. As I discovered myself a few weekends ago.

I wondered about the two connector thing but I don't think it will work bc I believe some said it was a voltage setting issue. I'd be curious if anyone has tried that and if it works...

No, he's talking about the destination chargers at the hotels. Many of which are not networked, so they wont show in the app at all, but work with most other EVs just fine.

I don't know the hardware revision of the Tesla L2's my Gravity had trouble with. They were very well-worn, definitely not the universal wall connector.

They look almost exactly the same. The universal ones have an adapter built in for J 1772 vehicles but they also make them with just the Tesla cable on them. The stickers usually tell the tale and also, if they are newer Tesla destination chargers, most hotels i’ve seen them at have them networked where you have to pay in the Tesla app to use them.

It was dark when I was struggling with mine, tried to read the stickers or at least get a photo so I could look up compatibility issues, but *&^#$% couldn't.

You're right! I'm back at Peppermill and the ones on the 3rd floor of the parking garage work. I can see what looks like a built-in adapter in the holster too. 10kw instead of 6 at the CPs.

Unfortunately they only have a couple of these. Most are the usual originals.
