I am a new Lucid owner and trying to decide if it is worth the effort to sign up for the FPL EV Charging program. The website is impossible to navigate, and there is no phone number to call to ask questions. For the record, the offered deal is:

  • They install a home charging station at no cost
  • They offer unlimited charging during non-peak hours for ~ $32/month
  • I sign a 10-year agreement
If anyone has experience with this and can provide some input, I'd be very grateful.

And then there’s this too:

Oh yeah. We had several rate increases a few years ago for storm recovery etc and then this past year a decrease they made a big pr thing about that was nowhere back to the level before those sequential raises. Now what you posted on top of that.

It’s the main reason I don’t wanna go for their charging program. Evil monopoly!

BTW, did anyone use their stipend to buy the 40-amp charging kit? Very frustrating experience as it looks like it could be a couple months to get one. I'm chained to public charging stations, and have wasted $1200 on installing a new circuit (at least for now). How can they sell an EV and make you wait for months to be able to charge it from home? Sorry, not a complainer by nature, but this frustrates me.
Completely understandable. I used my credit to purchase the mobile charger which should have shipped on July 11th. Suffice to say it has been a bit disappointing that I haven't gotten any updates.

I live in Florida. I paid an electrician to install a good EV ready 240v outlet in my garage. I also bought a ChargePoint 50 amp charger. Cost was about $300 for electrician and $500 for charger. I pay $0.16 cents a kilowatt at home. It takes about 8 hours and $10 of electricity to fully charge my car. Works great. I charge anytime.

I have a new in box lucid charger that I could sell to you. DM me if interested.

All, thank you so much for your replies. I paid $1200 to have the larger circuit extended to my carport. My plan was to use the charging kit that Lucid provides (if I ever get it!) and plug that into the outlet to charge. FPL's website says that the "average EV customer pays $90/month to charge". No idea. if this is true as it sounds like at some of of you are paying much less. dcr33313 says that they pay ~ $45/month on FPL's rates (based on "Eight 40 kWh charges a month" or ~ 2 times per week?). If this is true, I'd rather pay this way vs committing to 10 years to save $14/month. @dcr33313, please do tell me if I misunderstood your message (sorry, first EV and still learning).

My angst with FPL, is that in order to get past their "qualification questions", I have to lie and say that 1) I have a garage vs. a carport) and 2) that the circuit breaker panel is less than 10'. If I do this (just to get them to come out and assess and ANSWER questions, fine, but they then make you click that you acknowledge the terms and conditions which turn out to be a contract that implies that it is binding once FPL signs it next. Only been in Florida since 2022 but this is crazy!
Yes, you read my message correctly. I generally charge twice a week and use about 40 kWh each charge, so I was calculating 8 of these a month and using $0.14/kwh for simple math. Of course that changes with how much you drive and if you have a Pure vs Touring vs GT, but that’s the reality for me with my Touring.

It sucks that you are going through all of this trouble because they can’t keep the mobile charger in stock. It came with my 2024 Air and I have the home charger installed and always use that. If you anticipate it being much longer, I wouldn’t mind lending you the mobile charger from our BMW iX until you get the Lucid charger. It does 9.6 kw as well.
