Android users, can you check this setting? (Unrestricted background battery)

I generally press the power button on my phone through my pocket if I've been standing outside the car for too long like a doofus. That usually works. The times where I have to open the app means I'll also have to press the unlock icon, and then enter the PIN in the car (aka Mobile Key never connects at all, even though the Lucid media Bluetooth does).
Pressing the power button isn't sufficient for me. I have to bring the Lucid app to the foreground. The car them unlocks and works normally. I don't have to unlock it through the app.

Android Pixel 10 Pro XL here. I never looked at this setting until I saw this post. It was set to Unrestricted.... I think I like it that way because of problems with using the phone as a key. I conclude that nothing is changing the setting.

BTW I report that I am very disappointed in the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The phone freezes frequently (about once a week). I've never had a phone "freeze" before.
Same phone model as you and it's been flawless for me...not restarted or froze in a month of usage

Would any of you would like to retest and report back if anything changed on your end? Just so this thread doesn't continue being pages of DeaneG saying "it's fixed" and me saying "no it's not".

I'm running the test on my Pixel 9, which is up-to-date with Android 16, and running Lucid app version 2.10.0. When I opened the app details, 'Allow Background Usage' was toggled on, as was 'Optimized'. I changed the latter to 'Unrestricted'. Will monitor and report back...

Still running 'Unrestricted' 2.5 hours later, but only time will tell...

Remarkably consistent with your testing methodology on page 1 haha. See you in 3 hours!

Ha! Three hours later, and back to 'optimized'. I did drive the vehicle briefly in the interim.

Like clockwork 🤣 Thanks for retesting!

Yes I also find my longest stretches are when I don't drive the car for a while. Though it's not necessarily triggered by that because I've had the swap occur overnight while I'm sleeping as well. Always possible I connected to the car through the window or something though as that happens from time to time.

AI suggests turning off adaptive battery
Though that seams drastic. Could be worth testing for those observing reverting after 3 hours consistently

Lucid app reverts from battery unrestricted to optimized

That's a frustrating issue. The problem of an app's battery setting reverting from "Unrestricted" back to "Optimized" is a known behavior on some Android phones, often due to system-level battery management features that override individual app settings.

While the exact reason can be device- or OS-specific, here are the most common causes and the troubleshooting steps you can take for your Lucid app:

💡 Common Causes

• Adaptive/Intelligent Battery Features: Many modern Android versions (like Samsung's "Adaptive Battery" or "Auto-optimization") are designed to learn app usage and automatically manage or revert settings to save power, especially after a phone restart or if the app hasn't been used in a while.

• System Overrides: Sometimes the operating system's default behavior is to optimize all apps unless specific system-level overrides are disabled.

• App Restart/Update: The setting may reset every time the app is force-closed or after an app update.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Steps

Since you've already set it to "Unrestricted" at the app level, you need to check the system-wide battery management settings that might be overriding it.

1. Disable General Auto-Optimization

Look for settings that might be automatically resetting app preferences:

• Go to Settings \bm{\rightarrow} Battery and device care (or similar on your device, like "Device Maintenance").

• Check for and disable any options like:

• Auto-optimize daily

• Adaptive Power Saving

• Put unused apps to sleep / Background usage limits

2. Check "Adaptive Battery"

This is a key feature that often resets preferences:

• Go to Settings \bm{\rightarrow} Battery \bm{\rightarrow} Adaptive Battery (or similar).

• Try disabling the "Use Adaptive Battery" toggle.

3. Re-Check the App-Specific Setting

Make sure your "Unrestricted" setting for the Lucid app is still correct:

• Go to Settings \bm{\rightarrow} Apps \bm{\rightarrow} Lucid (the app).

• Tap Battery (or "App battery usage").

• Confirm it is set to Unrestricted. Also, check for an option like "Remove permissions if app is unused" and make sure it is disabled.

4. Clear App Cache and Restart

A simple cache issue or glitch can sometimes cause settings not to stick:

1. Go to Settings \bm{\rightarrow} Apps \bm{\rightarrow} Lucid.

2. Tap Storage and cache.

3. Tap Clear cache. (Do not clear storage unless you want to lose login info).

4. Restart your phone.

5. Check the battery setting again.

If none of these work, it could be a bug in the Lucid app itself or a specific incompatibility with your phone's Android version/manufacturer overlay. In that case, reporting the issue to Lucid Motors support is the best next step.

Would you like me to help you find the current contact information for Lucid Motors customer support?

I just checked, and with the new (12/5/2) Android revision to the Lucid app, my Pixel 9 phone will still not stay on 'unrestricted' for more than a few hours before reverting to 'optimized'. I don't know the ramifications of that behavior, but that is what's happening. (BTW, I am not yet on this latest OTA update.)

Mine had stayed unrestricted for a few weeks at least, but got reverted after the recent update a few days ago. I set it back to unrestricted yesterday, and today it's reverted again.

Pixel10Pro running late greatest Android and App version 2.11.0.

Mine is still "Unrestricted" after the latest app update and the December OS update.

But I still have to take my phone out of my pocket and unlock it sometimes to get the proximity unlock to work. So I wouldn't expect mobile key to work 100% of the time even in an "Unrestricted" state.

In the past, I thought I had to bring the Lucid app to the foreground, but just unlocking the phone unlocked the car this time, after maybe a five second delay.

Android battery optimization has gotten way too aggressive lately. Half the time when notifications or Bluetooth features stop working, it’s just the system killing the app in the background unless you set it to unrestricted. 👍
