Android Auto in 2.7.0 - Initial Impressions

At night, Android Auto seems to want to stay in day mode which makes the screen very bright while driving. I had to switch back to the Lucid maps so that I could drive without my eyes hurting. Does anyone else have this problem? I can't seem to find a setting to enable night mode to darken the layout at night, but on all my other cars, Android auto switches automatically based on exterior lighting.
Lucid's implementation may be incomplete, or have a bug.

This is strange, as mine works perfect from the first time I connected AA. Even when I drive through short tunnels it switches to dark mode and switches back when I exit. On Pixel 7 with Android 16.

Are you talking about the AA screen itself, Google Maps, Waze, etc? What phone model and Android version are you on?

I also had no problem with the day/night setting. In fact I turned it on Night mode only because of exactly what @Genghis said, was a little trigger happy swapping when I drove thru an underpass/etc.

I think he probably didn't notice the setting at all, but it's there!

Look at your AA settings to see if it's set on Day Mode only

Google maps. I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL on Android 16. I have the same setting as you where it's supposed to flip back and forth between night/day based on lighting. I'll keep testing, but last night when I was driving it wouldn't come out of day mode.

You are not alone. Same issue on my Pixel 9 Pro with the setting set to Automatic. It never switched to night mode automatically for me. I have another car (Ioniq 5) where the automatic day/night switching work great through Android Auto. On the Ioniq 5, my best guess is it's based on the headlights being on/off which reports it back to AA. Haven't had much time to mess around yet to try to find a fix.

I noted that when I changed WAZE to night mode then google maps also switched to night mode automatically.
