ALL TEXAS OWNERS (or future owners) please post on this thread

Upgraded from Pure to Touring...expecting delivery in about 2-3 weeks....what should be some of the first things to do? I am getting PPF and window tints for sure...but other than that any pointers while picking up the car from the Houston Service Center? After that what did you do? Looking to learn from others' feedback/experience...
Get ready for a home charging station.

I don’t know I was chasing. There was a new Lucid Air Zenith Red passed next to me on I-10 feeder to Hwy-99. It’s my first sighting of Air on streets in 9 months. I naturally chased him got off my own tour made U-turn under-path to Fry road. Was this anyone in this forum? 😆

Not me!

Got quote $1800 for a hardwired installation for the Home Charger...kinda steep??
I paid mine $2100. This process is seasonal and depends on how far your charger is to your circuit breaker. Mine was only 48amp WallBox, 20 ft from box. I don’t know what is your amperage which affectiving wire guage and equipments. Unless you know someone you trust and knows fire hazard code or you know how to do it yourself, I suggest bite the bullet.

Mine is 80amp, using Lucid home charger, about 20 feet as well from breaker panel..had him include #3 wiring too.. and he will need to add quad breakers to make room in the panel as I'm out of space in the panel..

Mine out of space too, he had to meeged 4 to make 60amp breaker for 48amp WallBox.

I assume you have Lucid Home Chargerwhich may need 100amp breaker.

You have more equipment need than mine. I knew I got shafted for $2100 bc it was during summer, the demand was ultra high for home charging and EV in Houston.

Yeah, I'm kinda going all in for sure.. thing is my estimate for installing a NEMA wall socket is exactly the same as hardwired charger.. so I bit the bullet on the $1200 charger for faster charging... Certainly not a need.. more a want for sure.. but it'll be cool to see the car charging at 19kW at home..

It’s worth it if down the road your household have more than 1 EV to take turn doing faster charge. Your speed is 66% faster than my WallBox.

Exactly.. the wife currently awaits the Gravity SUV!😌 So eventually yes we will make good use of the charger...I'm reading horror stories about the charger's wifi connectivity.. or lack thereof... We shall see...

If that quote is just for labor and wiring..thats a little high…I had an electrician do my Tesla Wall unit for $800 wiring and labor installed ( This was about 2 years ago 😊..I am sure the cost of wiring as increased) Then recently another $170 to re route the existing wiring to the accommodate my new Wallbox unit on the garage front wall…So a total of $970…All on a 60 amp circuit.

Mine was from QMerit appointed subcontractor using Lucid site. And waited 3 months for it.

Why 3 months? For the Home Charger to show up or what is just Qmerit being busy? 3 Months seems like a lot...

From April to July last year, they were booked bc new construction apartments around Houston were adding charging stations, more EV purchases wanted home charger installs bc gas price was $5+ and summer has more staff rotating on vacation leaves. Now things are cooled off now.

I live in Houston...and am planning a road trip to stretch the Touring's legs ... any suggestions? Looking for 200-300mile roundtrip...San Antonio and Austin from Houston had lots of construction going on ...so any other thoghts?

Dallas is not bad. A couple of EA chargers on the way.

There are very little EA station there. San Antonio has one, Round Rock has one and I-10 west to Columbus has one.

You have Woodland, Huntsville, Madisonville and Ennis all have EV.

There are more Chargepoint fast chargers in the Austin area, but they usually max out at 125kw (most of the time they're operating at less than that).

ChargePoint also has consistency issue for DCFC, I’ve been one in SE Austin last time when I went to Electrify Expo. It has 2 stalls, but both didn’t let me charge as bad review indicated by PlugShare.
