AirPlay/AA / PAAK / Mic Update - next update

It's a stupid feature that they shouldn't waste bandwidth and money developing. Honestly, the key as phone thing is a dumb idea that has led to far more complaints than additional buyers.
Much better to get all the basic functionality working rather than introducing geegaws.
Phone as key works super well with other cars (BMW iX, EV9) that we have had. iOS have made this smooth, easy and reliable.

While I would welcome CarPlay, AA, etc., I hope this didn’t pull resources from software bug fixes and robustness. The top software engineers should be assigned to finding and fixing the remaining intermittent bugs - I’m guessing the root cause is very hard to find and/or fix.

I’d rather have existing features work 100% of the time over new features. We all like shiny new toys, but it won’t be long before the new toys get dull and we’re back to cursing our existing broken toys we use every day.

I don't know software team management, but I would think there are "specialists" in certain areas, such as bluetooth and UWB vs Application support (carplay/tidal) vs vehicle control software teams? Are there a lot of engineers who would cross over those clear differences? Again, looking for info, not giving an opinion.

Totally. And the fact they are releasing both at the same time is a nice improvement compared to Air, where it was a serious gap between CarPlay and AA.

I think the plan is also the same when it comes to Apple Car Key and Google's digital key. Seems like Lucid is trying, at least, to have parity at launch for these things now, rather than prioritizing one over the other.
Alright, then I'll pause my idea of reopening the AA Thursday thread for now 🤣
I hope for the Gravity they can do it in the pilot panel. The implementation in the Air is far from ideal.

That's an Apple limitation, they only allow CarPlay to be displayed on the topmost screen. AA has the same limitation I believe.

No, the limitation has to do with line of sight. The Air pilot panel screen was too low to allow CarPlay / AA to be shown on it. Gravity I believe could have it on the pilot panel screen as it doesn’t sit as low as the Airs.

I'll have to dig out the Apple Developer CarPlay guidelines pdf again but I'm pretty sure that's not correct.

Depends on what it is. Since AA/CP allow us to bypass some of the car's own (often buggy) systems, I look at it as a type of fix in itself, in a roundabout sort of way.

But yeah, sooner or later, they need to get all the bugs fixed.

I'm a bit confused about the virtue of this Remote Start feature.

Why would I need this, exactly? I press a button in my app, and the car can be driven with no authorization present? Does it also unlock the doors? Can someone literally hop in my car and take off with it at that point?

If I have my phone, I don't need my fob. My phone is my key. (Assuming they ever get mobile key working.)

I must be missing something.
Tesla has it, I only used it for preheating, but I think it can let someone drive with a pin too.

There are indeed specialists/teams that work on specific modules and individuals who “own” specific pieces of code. Many projects can (and do) go on in parallel.

If robustness is a top priority, I’d take the top architects and the best people from the different silos to form cross functional teams to tackle the problem. This, of course, requires an executive level call, as you’ll delay projects within those silos. Those individuals are typically the backbone of the silos.

Emad Dlala mentioned breaking down silos for the fixes in 3.4.1. That was a great start, but the job is far from complete. A delay in CarPlay/AA won’t make or break Lucid. A reputation that Lucid can’t get their software working will; it’s just as bad as a mechanical defect making the car unreliable.

We can already preheat. This is specifically for letting someone drive away, within a two-minute window.

I hope they plan on sharing real access via Lucid accounts. I feel like this is a poor substitute for that in the meantime. But I guess it's better than nothing.

I'm just a little weary when I see features that basically turn off security protocols temporarily. Who's to say if the car will actually stop granting access in two minutes? We've already seen instances of doors not locking when you walk away.

oh totally! My car was doing this thing where it just wouldn't shut off or lock or anything when I left it. Two times it just stayed unlocked and running for maybe a whole afternoon, and definately almost an hour while I was in the store.

That’s good to know I hope they also squash other bugs as well is a very annoying bug where when you’re playing music from your phone and the media center is set for Bluetooth if you get a phone call or send a text message to someone it does not put you back into your Bluetooth connection playing the media from your phone. It defaults to SiriusXM or whatever else you’re using and the other bug is a lot of times a SiriusXM screen freezes. So whatever station you’re on, you cannot change it. The buttons don’t do anything and touching the screen does nothing. The only thing that helps is shutting the car off and coming back later or just doing a reset from the controls on your steering wheel.

Also wondering what that coming soon picture is with the Child car seat and of course other fun stuff like having YouTube or movies available when you’re parked and charging things like that

Huh? No reason PAAK can't be implemented on ICE cars. Under no circumstances is PAAK ever a huge advantage in any case. It is a marginal convenience when it works
To your point, it's standard on most Lincolns for about 5 years now.

Here's a couple of pics they posted on X. I don't see SOC% on arrival, which AA has had for 2 years IF they implement it right.

My son works for Aurora developing self driving trucks. He says he is "everything related to cameras" from mount points, to calibration, to coordination, to perception, to stitching views - but he does not work with the portion that takes mechanical automotive actions or any memory of what is past. Just how to optimize and comminicate what it sees now.. There are other specialists for different sensors as well there. At least in their case the skills are fairly narrow to their discipline but very deep. Of course, he is on multiple teams and interfaces with other areas.

did anyone confirm that this includes Apple Key?
It's not going to be part of this update. It's going to be followed any another update. Hopefully, sooner
