Air Version 2.9.0

I got in my car after overnight and I had the message that an update was ready. I had to get going so instead I just hit the information button to get more info and it froze up on me. I was finally able to get out of the update alert and it hasn’t reappeared since. Hmm…

It got pulled last night. According to forums, many have received the dreaded drive system faults, and the vehicles are not drivable. Hope to see these folks being taken care of soon and a fixed release being offered.

For those seeing this issue, you may be safer to not interact with the car too much. Seems like there’s a good chance the car can’t engage HV meaning the 12V battery is on its own, and could die if you keep it awake too much. I have no inside knowledge on the specific issue, but fruit for thought as I do this kind of
When you say "not interact" are you saying don't ping the car with the app checking for the update? Or more obvious things like don't spend the day getting a heated back massage?

If it was my car, I’d personally try to keep it asleep to preserve 12v, just in case it is an overall issue with HV and not just drive. Again my 0.02, but I personally wouldn’t want to be awaiting an OTA fix and have a dead battery when it does come.

On my 26 the wake/sleep is now kinda weird anyways. I can push the door handles in, the car wakes up kinda but the handles never pop out. I can see and control the car on the app, but the handles will not come out.

When they are out manually, pushing them back in does nothing and they just pop out if you try

Has anyone who has been bricked gotten a resolution or an estimate of when the fix will be pushed out? This many years in, I am just shocked that Lucid is committing unforced errors like this....

Hopefully today.

I just got through to customer service. They have pushed the patch to their fleet successfully and will start to push to us in the next 3-4 hours.

The one time I don’t read the latest posts before posting!

Thanks!

I'd request that everybody here to remember something: people make mistakes. Lucid messed this one up, and I will not in any way justify or excuse that. That said, assuming the patch comes today, less than 24 hours later, on a weekend, we all need to stand up and acknowledge how well they handled the problem.

Agree things happen. I’ve been in this position to manage as well as being one of the engineers on call for events like this. It’s a learning experience but agree that how they respond and fix is what we should takeaway, more than the issue happening itself.

The new version just published. Installing now. Same name: 2.9.2
Do you have insider information that they’re using the same version number? How can an owner know that the downloaded version pending installation on their vehicle is yesterday’s bad 2.9.2 or today’s good 2.9.2?

The old one has been pulled so anything you receive at this point will be the new one. If you do happen to install the old one, it will prompt you thereafter with the same version number and install right over the top of it.

The original 2.9.2 has an estimated install time of over an hour, today’s 2.9.2 update has an estimate of 45-minutes

I agree people do make mistakes. I myself have made many. Just ask my wife. That said, Lucid has recent software errors that are way too famous. They really need to put as much extra time into testing before release as they need to make sure it’s smooth. It’s a matter of reputation at this point. Cliché apply. Haste makes waste. A stitch in time saves nine. I admire that they are jumping on this and handling it as quickly as they can. That’s to their credit. But they should not have had to do this in the first place. I’ve worked in Silicon Valley all my life. I know whereof I speak from very personal experience in premature software releases.
