Air Version 2.9.0

So coming from a BMW iX, I think BMW had a better system for OTA updates.
The phone app itself would download the update onto your phone over wifi.
Once, in the car the app would upload the update to the car.

It was way more reliable and faster. Probably also saved BMW in cell data cost.
I agree it saves bmw on data cost. Also of note, the ‘updates’ bmw pushes out are so minuscule in impact and almost never gives us new features. I don’t think I’ve noticed the lift from any update BMW ever has sent our m50. 🤷 Not sure if that means there is less data being downloaded or if that even makes a difference in cost.

Was about to say the same. I highly doubt BMW is sending out OTA updates the size of what Lucid pushes out. BIG updates have often needed to go back to the dealer to handle.

The most recent BMW update added AI to navigation so it remembers frequent destinations and suggests them. Each update is fairly incremental. That said, the standard software suite is much more complete than on the Lucid.

Updated charging costs and a few other things too

My only impression after going from 2.8.16-->2.9.0 is that standard regen in Swift mode is slight more aggressive now. Bummer. I loved it the way it was before. I guess some of the other improvements will become apparent as I get more hours behind the wheel.

Having frequent black out screens after the update. Prior version was solid.

the glitches seem to be all over the place. My DDpro and all sefl-steering has disappeared. dash is flashing red constantly as if there are cars in blind spot, crash detection has stopped working. what a clusterf....

Even after a reboot?

I'm having second thoughts about this update. Can I ask anyone who has installed it to respond to this question about charging?

It says charging will start at the scheduled time if the car is plugged in within 6 hours of the scheduled start time. As of now, my charge time is scheduled for just after midnight. Does this mean that if I plug in my car before 6 PM, that it won't start just after midnight because it's not within 6 hours???

I think it means that if you plug it in anytime between midnight and 6 am it will start charging immediately (used to be 12 hours, so, in your case, it would have started charging anytime you plugged it it between midnight an noon). I have a similar schedule and when I came back before noon it would start charging - it does not now, it waits until my scheduled time (1 am).

I don't think it matters when you plug it in before your scheduled time, it will wait for that time. I have not tested that it would start charging immediately if you plug it in say 5 hours *before* your scheduled time, but I don't think so (but I have no first hand proof of the within 6 hours "before" scenario).

TY. I think I'm going to postpone installing this update until I can get clarification on this. I will not be happy at all if I can't plug in for a scheduled charge when I get home at 5:30 and have to go back outside sometime after 6 to plug it in for it to work. I really hope that's not what they mean. That just seems dumb.

I have 2.9.0. I plugged in around 2 PM today with a scheduled charge time of midnight tonight. It currently says “charging is scheduled” and I fully expect it to start then. But I’ll respond here tomorrow morning to confirm for you.

my dash is constantly flashing red at me nonstop. It is driving me completely insane. I really hope this is not permanent,

Also, the Dash no longer shows an image from the camera once you put your turn signal on. How can so many things go wrong after an update. Everything was so stable for so long.
What resets have you tried? Up to and including full sleep…

These sorts of glitches seem to nearly always resolve after resets (sometimes needing to do that more than once). Especially stuff that is so sudden and out of the ordinary, just after an update.

That's how I read it, but I'm just guessing. Just my opinion, which honestly isn't worth much. ;)

My update to 2.9.0 on my wifi was fast and easy. All existing settings (e.g., in Android Auto) were maintained. I'll have to drive more miles to know what's better or what's regressed. But, fine so far.

I have been driving on the new update for a few days now, and aside from a few pre-update bugs (pilot panel was mostly unusable from the moment I got the new update notification on my phone up to the end of downloading it) it is pretty robust.

Alas the « Car Play steals focus even when the last audio source was Tidal » is still there, and « Tidal not remembering the song it stopped at unless you pause before exiting the car, but then that produces the Car Play stealing issue » is still driving nuts.

But I’m sure one day both Tidal and Lucid team will figure it out 😅

Ok, @Halodde… good news! Car started charging right at midnight as anticipated. ✅

Also, I unplugged it around 4:40am, walked away to let it sleep and then went back and plugged it in. It immediately tried to charge again. No attempt to schedule charging.

So, I believe the 6 hour window means 6 hours after your scheduled start time it will begin immediately. For me, that would be 12am-6am plug in initiates it instantly. 6:01am means it’ll start that night at 12am again.

Hope that helps!
