Darn! I had my wi-fi turned off, and yes @HC_79 , I DID just run downstairs to turn it on! Hope my turn in the wi-fi priority queue has not already passed me by.

I just got the update notification but it says I need to connect to WiFi to download it. Never had to do that before

Just sat in the car for half an hour as the update downloaded to the car over my personal hotspot and not-so-great cellular connection. No real WiFi in my condo garage.

My update only says 1h10min, but I only have DD Premium, so that is likely a part of the difference. The download was about 3.1 GB according to my personal hotspot stats.
 
I did it everyone! I sat my Glut in the beautiful glass Canopy for 30 minutes while my hotspot downloaded 1012 gb for VIN usage, another 5.64 GB was downloaded for hotspot session for the overall update. It is now installing will report back with my findings.

This Wi-Fi thing is a good idea because it will reduce the amount of data that Lucid has to pay for on the internal cellular chips in our vehicles. Other car makers have used similar solutions; BMW downloads the update to the app and then it will transfer to the car when driving. Once that transfer is complete it will offer you the option to install. That way no SIM card is needed in the car and they are not paying for perpetual data usage.

Except now I blame YOU for teaching me to turn off my car's wi-fi connectivity so my app would wake the car remotely. So much for good deeds! :-)
 
Since my Dream is currently taking a spa week at a Service Center, I bet they have the wi-fi on and connected to their network.

The cellular is being used for more than just software updates though. It sends a bunch of info back to Lucid so without the cellular they’d be relying on people to connect their cars to WiFi to get that data.

Right but this way they still save a fortune by not having to download gigabytes of updates to thousands of cars.

Unlike your personal cell phone plan, high volume business accounts don't get unlimited data.

Unlimited data plans are very common in high volume business. I know, because I negotiate on them all the time. This isn’t 1990 were we pay per mb
 
i got the message to download and install. I was on the home wifi before I went out to dinner. Install running now - 1h 10min

Since things started for CCCv2, to @marqie! When we may see CCCv2 in rewards store? It been so long we are waiting after this is confirmed. Many of us have regards expiring and we want to make good use of them.

May be asking too much, can Lucid consider adding Annual services to reward store too 🙏

Cellular distribution of software updates does not scale as the installed base increases. This is likely why Tesla uses WiFi. I am glad that Lucid is "outgrowing" LTE as a medium for software distribution to the fleet.
 
Will install now, but a huge change after they fired development team. I thought once that team is gone, we might not see an update for a long time. This is awesome update, we'll documented and addresses lot of things.
