Air Version 2.8.30

My car has all of a sudden been having more random reboots on .30 after having it installed for over a week now. Very weird. Last night I got in my car, started to drive, and the center stack just went to the lucid boot up screen, stayed like that for a minute, then just went black. Has to reboot the car to fix that. Then this morning the map app just fully rebooted itself after driving for 5 minutes or so. Just interesting that they claimed this fixed most bugs, but I’ve actually experienced issues I never had before

I have not read this entire thread and not sure if this has been discussed before. Since getting the dot 30 upgrade, I have noticed my proximity door using the phone mobile key has improved significantly. Now the door handles extend more consistently upon approaching. Only 10% of the time do I need to take my phone out and open the app. It used to be 50% of the time I needed to open the app for the door locks to extend.

I’m jealous! For whatever reason .30 has been a step backwards for me. No noticeable change in phone unlock (works too good in the garage, takes way too long away from the house and 50% of the time have to pull the phone out and open it), my profile sometimes loads and sometimes it decides to load my wife’s even though her phone/fob are no where near the car, random camera errors and parking sensor errors that didn’t show up before the update, etc. It’s been a pretty major step backwards, which is really disappointing as the first update coming out of the new software team. With the huge leap forward the team made with Gravity software, expected better from this update for Air.

I had a similar delay, still do, but they said you have to give them your username and password and they send it to engineering who then tries fiddling with it

Are you being facetious or is that a legit observation? I'm not being a wiseass, just honestly curious about contacting lucid engineering.

Completely serious. That came directly from Lucid service. I declined to give them credentials and they said there is no other way they can troubleshoot the doors.

Good to know. Thanks.

I was driving yesterday, maps said an update was available. Hit the wifi and cellular and by the time I got home, 2.8.30 had been installed.
Doesn't seem safe to me. After every update I can remember it does a reboot. Not sure how that would be possible while driving. Seems like way too much of a legal issue to allow this.

thats how BMW does it though, finalizes installation during driving but doesn't reboot

Whenever my update arrives I will be curious to see how it applies. Not sure what advantage Lucid see with this. Just seems to be way too many risks of switching the car software while one is driving.

And the Air (as well as I believe the Gravity) does not apply updates or reboot while driving... it will download the new files both while driving and while idle ("asleep"), but the act of actually "installing" those updated files (replacing the ones used with the new ones recently downloaded) occurs completely in a controlled fashion (car in park, doors locked, etc... at the owner's order to "install now").

Could it be that the OP was talking about the nav system updating the offline map data while driving AND having the nav system in a "use the cached maps" mode (horrible, that should be transparent to the driver and not affect any active navigation)?

I hope so. This is how I have seen it work in the past. I'm sure I have always received the messaging saying the car will lock and reboot during the update process. But maybe my brain in on the blink.

.30 has also been a step backward for me. It is generating some random sensor errors that go away in minute or so. DreamDrive isn't working consistently. And my phone is working worse than ever. I've rebooted several times, talked to service on the phone, etc. Here's hoping the succeeding update overwrites all those issues. This is a fantastic car in every way but the software. The software isn't even that bad; I've got ICE cars with software frustrations. It's just that Lucid needs to be a lot closer to Tesla if they are going to be truly viable. We know they are trying to catch up and sure hope they do.

Air OTA 2.8.30 caused the following camera faults:

  1. Left side camera fault
  2. Right side camera fault
  3. Left side pillar camera fault
  4. Right side pillar camera fault
As a result, the lane change feature no longer functions while driving on the highway.

I contacted customer care on 4/7/2026 at 11:06 AM. They confirmed the same camera faults remotely and walked me through multiple reset procedures, including:

  • Holding the X, microphone, and brake pedal until hearing two tones
  • Holding the Air logo to reboot the system
  • Locking the vehicle and leaving it alone for 5+ minutes
None of these steps resolved the issue.

Customer care then advised that my “local” service center (which is over 3 hours away) would contact me to arrange for a technician to come out and manually reset the camera system. I explained that I would already be in Chicago that week week on vacation and could easily drop the vehicle off there during that time.

Unfortunately, I never received a call from the service center. After following up myself, I finally received a response on 4/15 — after I had already returned home. At that point I was informed that a field technician could not fix the issue and that I would either need to drive the vehicle several hours for service or pay approximately $500–$1,000 for transport related to a problem caused by Lucid’s own software update.

I was also told that OTA 2.9.0 might resolve the issue. It did not.

As a side note, while in Chicago I test drove the Gravity. The salesperson asked if I was interested in purchasing one. I explained that I had actually canceled my Gravity preorder — after waiting more than a year — due to ongoing concerns with customer service, software reliability, and warranty-related repairs that negatively affected the appearance of my vehicle (and the fact that the exterior color I wanted kept being pushed out - I found out on that visit it's been permanently cancelled)

I genuinely want Lucid to succeed because the vehicles themselves are impressive. But premium vehicles require premium service and support. Right now, the ownership experience is not matching the quality or price point of the product.

Are you out of warranty? I’ve never had to pay for shipping
