Air Version 2.8.30

225 days of no new features
So is the consensus here that we should be getting new features all the time? I look at my car as having pretty much a fixed feature set, you know, like a car. I expect it to have the features promised when I bought it, and that's it. I think it is asking a lot to expect a company to add new features all the time without additional compensation.

Agree, with Lucid announcing those cars with new computer upgrade will get the Gravity UX end if this year, why would they keep on adding features to UX 2.0? People need to be realistic. People complain Lucid spends too much money and then complain they don’t get new features in older software.

ooohhh i didn't realize Gravity UX was promised for Airs with the CCV2 upgrade. That's exciting. Looking forward to Halo :)

Lucid’s market cap is about 3B. Ford’s market cap is abour 47B. Ford sold 146 times more vehicles than Lucid.

Do you think Lucid can do what traditional car companies do and not provide new features?

Slightly different perspective: I do not expect new features. I do expect that longstanding bug issues can and will be resolved via updates (CarPlay that won't connect or randomly disconnects; random "reduced regen" warnings; rear camera offline; updated car audio EQ, etc.)

Yes, yes I do. I think early adopters are hungry for constant upgrade and features; I think the average person just wants a car that has nice features when they buy it which then work reliably.

Yes, this exactly. They are far enough into production (of the Air at least) that fixing bugs should be the only thing they do, not enabling new features.

Yeah sorry I meant update.
They should. Whenever a car goes to service, one of their "courtesy" checks is to look at your software version and update if needed.

Just got 2.8.30 on my car. At long last, my 2.8.16 nightmare is finally over. 😀

Oddly enough, the car installed 2.8.17 first. THEN asked if I wanted to update to 2.8.30. (Anyone else on 2.8.16, don't be surprised if you see this, too.)

Which means they could have let me install 2.8.17 all along. But all's well that ends well. I never had the issue 2.8.17 was meant to fix, anyway.

2.8.17 to 2.8.30. There have been 13 different versions of this to get to the production software. A lot of work has gone into this. It may not be new features, but it should address a fair number of bugs.

Dream Ahead!
Rooting for the new SW team, hopefully they deliver solid updates.

My 2025 AGT, which I bought used in January, and the phone app say it has software version 1.1.4. (Car seems to have all current features though)
I called customer care around Feb 6 and they said they would contact me with the next steps. When I didn't hear for a weekish I emailed customer care, they said:
"After reviewing this issue, I can confirm that your vehicle is actually running the most up-to-date software version, 2.8.17. The car or mobile app displaying version 1.1.4 appears to be a temporary glitch. I’ve verified with our software team that your system is fully updated with all the latest features. They expect the app and vehicle display to show the correct version after the next software update is completed."

So, that's all fine and the car is great-everything works. I have not yet received the 2.8.30 update. From reading this forum, I see it can take a couple of weeks for it to roll out to everyone. I am somewhat concerned it may not update due to the "glitch."
Two questions:
1. What's a reasonable amount of time to wait before contacting customer care. I do not want to be a pest. 2 weeks? 3?
2. Is there anything to the idea of driving to the service center and connecting to their WiFi to force the update? It's not too far from me and I wouldn't mind taking a ride.

There is an old axiom "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Unless there was a feature update, I wouldn't invite change to a machine that is running correctly. I'm an Apple beta tester - I have been burned by my constant desire to have the "latest and greatest", only to find changes that I didn't like.

Your call, but I would wait, unless you like the unknown and the opportunity to introduce a problem. By the way, I do like that opportunity, but I have lots of questionable behaviors... :)

Not really expect "new" features all the time, but I remember (and I may be challenged on some of these) we were always told from 3+ years ago:
  • Apple Car Play (did finally arrived)
  • Android Auto (did finally arrive, much later than Car Play)
  • V2H (one of my main reasons for Lucid as I was an EV virgin at the time)
  • Some sort of camera recording/sentry mode
Again I could be wrong on the camera stuff, not to say I don't love my Lucid, always talk it up, find excuses to drive it anywhere.
Whenever out and about and someone approaches me with "what kind of car is that", I usually bend their ear to the point they are squirming to get away.

I agree I am totally happy with my Lucid as is with the exception of V2H which was promised to me in late 2021 as being "available very soon". So this Fall it will be five years since "available very soon" which has been repeated multiple times.

Heck I’d be happy with V2L!

Industry standard nowadays as well. It's a glaring omission and a feature I really miss since I made the move to Lucid.
