Air + DreamDrive Pro: Were We Left Behind?

CCCv2 gives you the processing power for the upcoming UX3.x upgrade and was needed for one of the features in the last OTA patch. Google Map searches, I think.

It seems like the DDPro hardware is in other ways not enough to handle self-driving. When it comes to Gravity it will be leveraging NVidia's Alpamayo ADAS suite and will apparently run on the Dream Drive 2 Pro hardware.

The Gravity ADAS progress is expected to end there, while the Cosmos (and beyond) are being designed with the Thor processors etc to scale to L3 and L4 eventually.

Well, your thought was wrong. One has nothing to do with the other.
 
Yes. CCCv2 upgrade is only entertainment system focussed. Not the equivalent of an FSD computer upgrade in a Tesla. I think Air owners with DDPro are in a similar position to current Hardware 3 Tesla owners. The current Air hardware is not as powerful as DDPro 2 gravity vehicles and Lucid are trying to max out capacity with the older hardware. But is has a functionality limit.

Every conversation we’ve had here about that upgrade has always clarified that it is only for the infotainment system. But I can see your confusion, it seems to be a common misconception.
It is supposed to be a nice upgrade, from those who have done it. But only the infotainment system gets the improvements.
Is it worth the cost, that’s up to you but consider how many companies offer a factory upgrade to an already installed system, possibly from years ago. That in itself is a pretty cool feature.
