Hello everyone
I have been an EV owner since 2014 ( tesla) and the time has come to try something new . I test drove the Lucid Air Touring ( twice ) and i loved the driving dynamics of the car!
After reading lots of different threads on the AC I would like to ask the FLORIDA community about their opinion .
The AC felt very weak without enough flow coming through the cabin. I tried MAX Cool option as well. Right now it’s only 82 degrees in Florida with lower humidity. My concern is summer months are coming with high temperatures and humidity levels.
I would prefer a glass roof, but I am not sure if selecting an aluminum roof would be enough to keep the cabin comfortable.
If the blower fan is working continuously at high speeds and making terrible noise it’s a big turn off for me !
I had this on my first Tesla S and it was embarrassing of how loud the car was in the summer time .
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and opinions

Bobby

I was going to let the Florida owners respond because humidity affects this. I live in Phoenix and have no issues with the AC in the summertime. I do have the Lucid sunshades (link below) that I use in the summer. They help a lot because the glass roof does get hot and the screen blocks this. Overall the AC works good for me.

yesterday it was little hot in Tampa temps at 86 but i felt AC is able to keep up with the heat. Fan sounded like any car for me at those temps.

No problem here in Ft Lauderdale. I also use the sunshades, they’re terrific and I recommend them. But the AC works fine. A little noisy if you increase the fan speed? Yes. But the climate in the cabin is ok. I have a Touring with glass roof, by the way.

Sorry. I have been busy with wedding preps for my son.

I live in florida. I live in Davie which is just west of Fort Lauderdale. I have a touring and chose the aluminum top since I was concerned with range efficiency and AC efficiency. AC works great. I have never felt hot even during extremely hot weather. The seat ventilation works great too.

the aluminum top is also lighter than the glass top. If I had to do it again, I would buy a GT with glass top. The concern about heat is overstated and the extra range of the GT is pretty helpful at times.

Best of luck to you. You will not regret the decision whichever one you chose. I still love getting in my car to take a drive. My wife is tired of me making up reason to take the car out. Haha. I just love it.

We live in south Florida and have driven the Lucid for two years. We have never found the car unable to keep the cabin comfortable after a cool-down period. We also drove the car on a trip to the Carolinas during the 2021 summer heat wave that saw 108º temperatures without any discomfort. Even sitting on black tarmac at Walmart charging stations we found the cabin tolerable if not quite crispy cool. I have also spent a few hot, sunny afternoons sitting in airport cell phone lots waiting for arrivals with the A/C keeping up just fine on the "auto" setting at 70º. (The glass roof in any car, including our Tesla, gets hot to the touch when there is no airflow over the glass. So there was a noticeable heat gradient as you neared the roof while sitting. However, the A/C kept up.)

Before delivery I looked into the feasibility of applying a tint film but dropped the idea after living with the car for a while.

Living in Vero Beach FL, the A/C in my Touring with the Glass Canopy works very well to keep the car cool. Leaving the car parked in the sun of course will make it get hot in there, as would any car. The trick is to leave the A/C on while you go in the store. Tesla called this "Dog Mode", and Lucid has a setting in the Climate screen (which only stays on for 45 minutes). You can also remotely turn on the A/C from the Lucid app. /keith

I'm not in FL but it's pretty hot in Texas and no issues. Also have no glass canopy, AT.

AC while getting groceries is an amazing option too.

It would be very wasteful to keep the AC on longer than 45 minutes. If one is going to be away that long, one should use the app instead to start it up 15 minutes before one is ready to leave. I think the Lucid system makes sense.

Unless your dog is in the car 🤷‍♂️
