ADIOS LUCID: I really hate to make this post but after only two months of ownership, my '23 Lucid AT is gone.

Yeah, it's a sad commentary on the nature of corporations that Lucid is continuing to ramp production and selling Gravitys, rather than admitting they need another 6 months to fix a bunch of basic issues. Doubtless the executive team feels that pressure from Wall Street and the Saudis leave them no choice but to plough ahead, and early purchasers will just have to put up with being free quality-testers for the company. I have a GGT order in-production, and I'm still uncertain as to whether I'm actually willing to buy it when the SA calls me up and says it's ready. This is the first vehicle I've considered purchasing where I felt the need to read up on California lemon laws ahead of time!
I think your gravity will be fine. The newer Gravities coming seems to be more reliable than the older ones. You do have the power to reject it if you don't like it after inspecting. If I were you, I will take it for a ride with the sale rep just to ensure everything is working as expected.

Everyone want Lucid to be a better Tesla overnight, but that's unlikely to happen. While I find certain issues unexcusable; the high expectations people put on Lucid kind of magnify some of these issues. I believe Lucid will ended become a better Tesla; I just hope it doesn't take too long doing it.

How many years is enough years? It’s been 5.

It’s so interesting how some people are bothered by certain bugs more than others. My partner and I manually change profiles all the time and it only takes like 10 seconds. The car generally opens well but there are times that i have to wait maybe 20 seconds which is very annoying but i love so many things about the car that it’s not a deal breaker at all. I don’t really get the blank screens and never while driving but that bug has been introduced with recent updates so I’m sure it will go away in an upcoming update. I’ve found hands free driving fantastic with the most recent updates etc. It’s not a perfect car as far as software is concerned but nothing even remotely close to deal breaking and they update all the time. Not saying the OP is wrong to change cars its just interesting to see peoples tolerance levels.

I will give them 2 more years; but the key issue need to be fixed ASAP.
Uh, they pretty much have fixed the fob, aside from random false alerts that don’t affect driving, and some of those issues went away with a new battery. Should the battery last longer? Yep. Progress happens in steps, not all at once, and while yeah fobgate was a major face palm stumble out of the gate, they did dramatically improve it pretty quickly. They’re working pretty aggressively on the other software issues as well. Honestly my car has been pretty good, aside from the very drunk behavior of the HVAC interface and general glitching with screen inputs. As some may have noticed sales and production have continued to increase and I think these early problems were not consequence-free given the numerous leadership changes they’ve made recently. It’s a big reason why I’ve continued to stick with them in spite of software sloppiness, as Lucid seems able to pivot well and service has been stellar anytime I’ve needed them. Plus it’s so much better to drive than literally everything else I guess that makes me more forgiving. Ideally the car should not need forgiveness, and I think Lucid wishes for that as much as we do.

Idk man after their Gravity disaster I’d be surprised if they even a thing in 5 years.
It’s kind of off putting how you seem to just be shitting on Lucid in most threads. Like you’re not really adding a perspective, just that you think they suck and should go bankrupt. Repeatedly.

Sorry you’re upset

He made a good point. You’ve openly said your method for getting tech support is to repeatedly say caustic things about the company until someone helps you. Which is fine for you, but you shouldn’t be surprised that other people are annoyed by this behavior.

Honestly it sucks that your car is having these issues. I have no doubt they will fix everything. At this point I am pretty sure you know that also. You now have the contacts you need in order to fix everything. You could at least try the less annoying path first?

I totally get selling a car because its problems just wear you down. In fact, I've done it four times over the years.

1. 2004 Mercedes SL55 AMG: Brake-by-wire system failed twice, once also losing manual braking and causing me to roll out of a garage onto a 3-lane street in downtown Chicago. I finally stopped the car by steering it into a curb. (Mercedes quietly discontinued the feature the next model year.) Alternator failed, and its replacement also failed as soon as they hooked it up. The next one had to come from Germany, which kept the car in the shop almost a month. Gear shift linkage broke. Trunk seals leaked. Seat heaters burned out. I finally took the car down to our vacation home in Florida to use there, but after finding all I did on each visit was take it to the dealer to leave there for repair, I just dumped it.

2. 2003 Audi S6: Battery kept going dead when parked overnight. Audi said it was a problem between the car's electronics and the GM On*Star system that premiered that year in some Audis. They were never able to resolve the problem, and after almost a year of carrying around jump cables, I finally dumped the car.

3. 1998 Corvette C5: Removable hardtop panel leaked like a sieve. I carried a roll of paper towels in the car to stuff into the top of the driver-side window during a rain or at a carwash. Multiple service visits never resulted in a good seal. Brake discs repeatedly warped and had to be replaced three times. Tie rod fell off while driving slowly over a railroad crossing. Car kept going into limp mode (8 mph). Multiple service visits did not resolve. When it happened when I was on the inside lane of I-95 in Connecticut next to a concrete divider where I couldn't pull off the road, I finally managed to get across three other lanes of high-speed traffic onto a shoulder. I walked down a nearby exit to a service station, called a tow truck, and never got in the car again.

4. 2000 Jaguar S-Type: Dashboard completely blacked out several times and finally had to be replaced. Then, three months after purchasing it, the transmission failed. Head gasket developed a leak. Several other issues I no longer remember clearly. Car was lemon-lawed.

Even the two Honda Odysseys we had were not problem-free. We dealt with windshield distortion, a bad gear shifting algorithm which it took Honda over a year to fix with a software rewrite, a right-rear sliding rear door that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, a USB port that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, and a seat position memory that for 8 years constantly defaulted to the secondary setting.

We have three Lucids. None are flawless, and the software drives me absolutely nuts. But none are the worst cars I've had in terms of reliability or frequency of repair . . . and all have the best balance of driving dynamics, space, luxury, and structural solidity in their category.
I recently brought my other car a Mercedes in for its annual B service and an inspection sticker.Dropped it off at 7:45 and wasn't finished until 3 pm. They couldn't wash it as the car wash was broken and they forgot to put the new inspection sticker on the windshield so I had to go back the next day for that to be done. Brought my '22 Air GT in this week for it's yrly service at 7:45am and was done and washed by 9:15am. There is always a flip side to every story

Why you so obsessed with me? It’s weird man.

I mean, it’s not like you are low key? :)
This is literally a complaint thread. I’m sharing my complaints. Go to the wheels thread, I’m talking about wheels. I’ve made two extremely helpful threads about fixing light whine and speaker rattle. Why not go comment up those then?

Agreed. The annoyances of the AGT aren’t all that different than other cars I’ve owned. Yes it would be nice if the profiles synched perfectly all the time. But I’ve had that same complaint with BMW’s and Jags I’ve owned. At least the fix in the Lucid is simple and intuitive. And I’ve yet to own a vehicle that didn’t have a glitch with Apple car play. I’ve had phone apps that integrate better with a car and ones that are a lot worse. At the end of the day it’s all about the drive for me. And on that account the Lucid has more than met my expectations.

I am coming from Ranger Rover, RS6, X5M .. petrolhead to the bones and never thought I would ever by an EV. Coming up on 1000 miles and 3 weeks ownership on GDE and had 0 issues. My wife, who hates my cars, finally likes one lol

The German manufacturers lost me when their cars get more expensive every year but quality and features are being removed. On top of that, I am not paying $30k dealer fee on top of MSRP only to get a M5 Touring (to be fair I had one on order at MSRP) which doesnt even have full leather anymore on the dashboard etc.

I am not regretting going with the Lucid and I am convinced its the cheaper and better car than the M5 Touring which I would have purchased otherwise. Unless you want noise :D but for that I have a 3RS

Which is why I've hidden posts from that profile...I hate to do such things, but a lot of what is posted is a lot of non constructive rage. I hate that their experiences with Lucid has taken them to that point, but after a while it becomes hard to read anymore...

I think Lucid says i dont care or else key issue have been fixed by now or we may have got news keys already and they might have not repeated same thing with gravity. I would partner with some one having working keys rather than say ohh wow we will be first level 4 and we cannot get in the car at the same time 😆
I can guarantee Lucid cares.

Moreover, the folks making the fobs for Gravity are the same ones that make them for Mercedes. They did switch suppliers.

Everyone is entitled to spend their money on what car they want and I hate that all that happened to OP and would probably feel the same way. Having dealt with several other automakers tho, and especially their first Gen cars, honestly the experience hasn't been any significantly better or worse than Lucid in most regards. The key fob, which I agree seems to largely be fixed, is the onto issue I've not run into that is just unacceptable. The rest, given the short time Lucid has been around and these being new cars and software, is frustrating but is to be expected. Tesla has had over a decade now. I think they are well ahead of what Tesla was at this point and will continue to improve, but there will be some more mistakes on the way. If they can continue tho to mostly keep moving in a positive direction, I think they will be just fine, but yes, it's going to be hard work and the expectations are high.
