I have a GGT with Dream Drive Pro. High beam assist (simple on/off) works fine, but I have never seen adapative high beams kick in. Am I missing something?
  1. I'm in the US.
  2. GGT built in Nov 2025
  3. Running 3.4.1
  4. Dream Drive Pro but no HUD
  5. Manual says in the Dream Drive/Driving Experience section to enable Adapative Driving Bean in Vehicle Settings > Driving Settings > Exterior Lighting > Toggle Adaptive Driving Beam. That menu hierarchy does not exist and 'Toggle Adaptive Driving Beam' is nowhere to be found in the settings.
  6. Elsewhere in the settings I can see 'Enable High Bean Assist' and it's on.
  7. Headlights are set to Auto on the left Cockpit panel.
  8. The icons on the dash look correct:
    1770130720220.webp
  9. As I said above, high beam assist works but I've yet to see the matrixed head lights adapt to oncoming traffic.
Is this a region thing? Am I not driving in the right conditions to see the adaptive high beams activate? Bug? User error?

I've been playing with this for a couple weeks. If you turn on the headlights in the garage, you will find an unlit rectangle in the left light and the right light. When I am out of the garage, I can see where the right light unlit rectangle carries out to where a rear view mirror might be in a car in front of me and the left light unlit rectangle is where an oncoming windshield might be. My Polestar has a similar "ability" and similar rectangles.

So, I truly don't know, but have the feeling those rectangles are meant to reduce glare for vehicles in front of us. Of course, the lights will go down to regular lights when traffic is recognized, but the rectangles are still there.

Just an observation - maybe I'm just making it up.

The rectangles are to try to prevent blinding an oncoming driver. They're there in the Air as well. That's not adaptive high beams - those keep the high beams on all the time and dynamically block the light from vehicles you're following as well as oncoming vehicles. As far as I'm aware, adaptive high beams have been legal in Europe for quite some time and were approved by the NHTSA in 2022, but have not really become widespread yet. Hopefully Lucid will get approval for them soon.

I thought this might be a regulatory issue in the US as well, but they are mentioned in the configurator, the manual and elsewhere.

This isn't a big deal. I only thougth about it after an oncoming car flashed their headlights at me when my high beams were not on.

I wonder if Lucid’s “adaptive” high beams is just a fancier term for “auto” high beams. Basically the high beams just automatically turn on/off depending on the presence of other cars. The Gravity does have matrix headlights, but not sure if they’ve been implemented fully in the US.

They're mentioned separately in the manual and the sales material. High Beam Assist is a basic feature available in all trims. Adaptive Drive Beam is available with DreamDrive 2 Premium and Pro. My GGT has DreamDrive 2 Pro.

Then again, the sales page also says DreamDrive 2 Pro comes with hands-free drive assist and traffic light detection which have not been delivered yet. Maybe Adaptive Drive Beam has not fully launched, but somehow managed to make it into the owner's manual. 🤷‍♂️

Regulation-wise, the US allows for them - perhaps they just haven't been implemented. I also have been flashed (that doesn't sound right) by oncoming drivers - don't know if mine are truly aimed too high or not. I do know that other, modern vehicles with modern headlights appear bright to me as they approach.

I get flashed all the time in my Model Y.

Hm, mine works whenever I'm in a really dark area. It doesn't kick on if there are streetlights or headlights. But where there are no streetlights, it does kick on.

That might be it. I drive quite a lot in the city but the high beam assist does kick in. Do you see an option to 'Toggle Adaptive Driving Beam' somewhere in settings?

I thought "Adaptive Driving Beam" headlights were going to be similar to Rivan's Gen2's...where pixels turn off/on depending on drivers coming at you. Did I get that wrong?

I haven't seen this happen yet with my car, so I thought it's a future feature. That said, the headlights are just fine for me as is...
