I wanted to share a slightly hair-raising experience I had this morning in my 2024 Lucid Air Touring and see if anyone else has run into this or has thoughts on how the vehicle software handles it.

I was driving down the road at around 20 mph this morning, got a little distracted, and went to turn on the wipers. In the moment of distraction, I hit the wrong button and accidentally engaged Park while the car was still moving.

To my surprise, the car actually let it happen. While it didn't lock up the rear wheels or cause a skid, it was abrupt and frankly felt pretty jarring.

Honestly, getting this kind of unexpected behavior when someone hits the wrong button could easily be considered dangerous—especially if it happens on a busier road or highway where other distracted drivers might inadvertently hit the wrong control.
Is this normal behavior for the software, or is this something Lucid needs to address in a future OTA update to prevent accidental gear shifts at speed? Curious to hear your thoughts or if anyone else has experienced this.

This is documented behavior. Holding down the park button for a couple seconds doesn't just engage the parking brake, that is your emergency brake. Mercedes has the same thing as well, it's not just a Lucid thing.

This is normal. Hitting park activates the emergency brake. Your delivery advisor should have gone over this with you and it is a probably a case where should have read this part of the manual.

Well considering how a typical automatic transmission uses a pawl that drops into a physical slot … there is less likelihood of a catastrophic failure.

So do what you did in a typical automatic transmission and you will be far less happy.

QQ does no one read manuals anymore? I mean this isn’t a toaster it’s a complex piece of machinery and computers. I think I read it through twice.
