A good way to check battery health?

I will post the 90k+ ODO, 95% charged on DC fast chargers exclusively, 100% charge picture here for those worried about degradation. 2022 AGT.

Sure. The Python bindings are open source, as is the Home Assistant integration.

I totally understand not trusting me or @segbrk, and you are more than welcome to make the API calls yourself or use HA. :)

But for what it’s worth, your credentials are never stored, so they cannot be stolen. The results of your API call are shown to you and then *only* get stored, encrypted, if you hit the button allowing it to be shared (so we can build out the API).

But yeah, there’s no pressure whatsoever to use it. Just a public service.

Battery health isn’t in the gRPC output (Field 11 is missing), but in the JSON output, I do see batteryHealthLevel.

With buffer, yes, that is correct. Usable air battery (gt and above) is around 110kwh

All gravity battery health sits at 0 right now. I assume they haven’t updated that field.
 
Hoping someone here can help me understand if there is something wrong with my HV battery. I have a 2023 AT with 34k miles, I should have a 92kwhr battery pack. The API reporting capacity_kwhr: 83.68 and battery_health_level: 95%. If there is a 5% degredation on my 92kwhr battery, shouldn't I see my capacity to be at 87.4%? In my real life driving, I saw 24 kwhr used with 30% usage of the battery, which equates to 80kwhr total battery capacity. I spoke to Lucid Service center and they insisted that everything is normal but the math isn't mathing.

If I understand correctly if your battery was charged to 100% you would have 83.68kwhr available now. So a loss of about 9%. I just had a new GT battery installed in my 2022 because of HV battery failure and the one they installed has a 10.7% loss off the 112 kwhr it should have. Lucid service says this normal and we should expect a 2-3% loss in battery capacity every year.

While the 92 kWh is the battery pack size, usable is less than that. Some capacity is reserved as buffer and there are probably other fudge factors.

Calculating backwards (making assumptions on significant digits):
  • Battery capacity: 92.00 kWh
  • Total usable: 88.08 kWh (83.68 / 0.9500)
  • % usable vs rated: 95.74% (88.08 / 92.00).
% usable is inline with my (new) Gravity:
  • Total capacity 123.00 kWh
  • Total usable: 117.39 (100% health)
  • % usable vs. rated: 95.44% (117.39 / 123.00)
BTW, dynamic range and EPA rating is based on usable, not battery capacity. Math works out if I use 117.39 and not 123.

Based on the guess-o-meter reading I have 503 miles range, which equates to 97.5% of the EPA rating of 516 for a '23 AGT. I know the guess-o-meter is not an appropriate gauge for battery health, but it's all I got unless / until I can access the utility.

This shows our 2022 Air battery capacity is now down to 88.6% of its nominal 118 kWh usable.

Our six-month-old Gravity is at 94.8% of its nominal 123 kWh usable (although Kyle Conner claims his data shows the usable capacity of the Gravity is really more like 118 kWh).

I'm a bit surprised/worried/disappointed in the degradation of the Air battery. Less so for the Gravities at this point, given that there is usually a quick degradation for a short while after a battery pack goes into service . . . and there is some confusion about whether it even started with 123 kWh usable or something more like the 118 kWh Conner claims.

Usable is not the rated capacity. Your newer Gravity matches mine: 117.39 kWh usable (not 123 kWh).

Your Air gives health directly: 93.0% (backward calculating, 112.4 kWh usable at 100% health).

Your Gravities are at 100% and 99.31%.

That seems to support Conner's contention that the Gravity is really delivered with something short of 123 kWh usable. In an earlier interview with someone from Lucid (can't remember who and when), I think it was claimed that the 123 kWh was the usable rating and that the battery had an additional 2 or 3 % upper buffer. Based on how far Conner has driven Gravities below the indicated 0% battery level, he thinks the cars have an unnecessarily large lower buffer -- something in the 5% range, he suspects. I'm wondering if that's where some of the missing nominal capacity lurks?

I'm not sure that the "battery health" metric is based solely on capacity remaining.

6.7kwhr buffer below 0 is what they got, so that is not in that calculation.

Yeah, via the API my 25 Pure is at 95 percent battery health with 11k miles and just over 80KwH of capacity at full charge. But I think it was at 96-97 percent at most on delivery. I would be curious to know a bit more about the dynamics of this. i.e. why doesn't every pack start at 100 percent. There is clearly more in play than usage and charging patterns.

The battery pack and rear drive unit had to be replaced in our Air about a year into ownership. It has been reported that when Lucid changes a battery pack they do not necessarily install a new one but instead use one "equivalent" in condition. So that's a bit of a wild card in trying to gauge our degradation rate for that car. Our Air is a Dream Edition which has a battery pack unique to that version, so I've always wondered how many used Dream Edition packs were available.
