3 row HVAC vents in 5 seat model

I bet they'll delete the sliding track eventually too. No idea why they don't just sell 7 seaters only until the 5 seat design is finalized.
Because people want five seaters now and will pay for an imperfect design.

I might well have ordered a Dream if 5 seats had been an option. Thats how little sense the 7 seat configuration makes for me.
You could get 7 seat and remove the 3rd row.

True, but it doesn't help Lucid sell more cars since they're still production constrained. It also might annoy customers to see they didn't get the final design.

Honestly, if I had known how unfinished it was going to look I would have waited. I got the first 5 seater in AZ though (so far as I understand it) so I just didn’t know it would look like a 7 seater with a row missing. 😢 I still love my car but…

This is very interesting. Can someone show photos of how it seems unfinished? I’ve only seen the 7-seat version.

Well some have looked like this one with the cutouts there for where the third row should be attached: https://lucidowners.com/threads/photos-or-video-of-the-5-seat-gravity-cargo-area.12932/post-282900

But now at least one person got one without those holes: https://lucidowners.com/threads/photos-or-video-of-the-5-seat-gravity-cargo-area.12932/post-299409

Yikes. That first one is bad. I’d be pretty unhappy with that.

The second one looks great.
Honest question: why? They’re just depressions, not holes. It wouldn’t bother me. The second one is obviously better, but I don’t think I’d sneer at the first one 🤷‍♂️

It may just be me.

Because it’s a $120,000 car. Manufactures that sell cars at this price point just don’t do that kind of thing, not even if was a Mercedes EQx. 😁

Wouldn’t bother me. Could easily put foam there if one wanted.

If one doesn’t like it, don’t buy it. Pretty easy. They don’t force you to take it.

I agree with you the first one looks unfinished and there are holes on the corners of those depressions for the 3rd row attach. Looks, both inside and outside are important to car buyers. The second versions is nicely finished and what I expect from a luxury car.

I agree that I could have rejected delivery but I really could not have. I had a non-refundable deposit, the trade in was messy and done and I didn’t delay delivery because I had no idea they would change it. I think that they improved it makes it worse in my head…it could have been better but it wasn’t. It just sucks, imo. I wish it could be properly fixed but I don’t want to stuff something in the holes. I don’t want a rigged car at any price but especially at $118k.

I don’t splurge on much but I loved my Air and I do love my gravity, just disappointed that it looks unfinished. This car payment is more than my mortgage and I put almost 1/2 down. It’s a crap ton of money and embarrassing to answer the question about what is that.

I would contact Lucid directly and ask them if they feel this is a good representation of a $118,000 car from Lucid, or do they want to fix this problem. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the way Lucid makes things right on this site, and I would go with that. Otherwise they should give you and install the back seats. One of the other. This isn’t right.

I actually would remove half of the 3rd row and leave it in my garage if I could figure out a way to do it.
More cargo space and a bit less work for the motors.

It’s incredibly easy to remove as long as you don’t ever want to put it back! 😆

Well, they do force me to eat the $1000 deposit when I realize the 5-seat config is a bit half baked and I want to back out of the deal. Unless I decide right now, when I only have a batch number assigned, instead of waiting to see what they actually decided to do with the 5 seat configuration when mine is ready for delivery.

My Highlander cost me about $44K (before all the various fees and taxes). At that price I'd be a bit irked by an unpolished design, but would accept it. At $120K, I have a much higher expectation of perfection. If there were another vehicle with the combination of range, charging speed, and driving dynamics, I'd be seriously considering whether buying a first model year Gravity is a silly thing to do.

Another way of looking at this is you have an easy way to convert your Gravity into a 7 seater, which may enhance the re-sale value when you want to part with it years down the road.
(Just trying to put a positive spin here)

…have you tried asking if there is or will be a way for them to retrofit it with the new carpet for you, now or in the future? No guarantees, but it may be worth asking.

For example, my Air frunk I had screwed magnets into, because the storage cover wouldn’t stay up. Newer Airs had a redesigned frunk, and I asked Lucid to replace mine. It wasn’t free, but it’s a lot better. And I don’t need magnets.

Actually, I did just this week. I dropped off for my due bill items and a few other things and I did ask if there was any way they could make it look like the photo of the guy’s who just took delivery. We will see how that pans out. 😊

Let us know! The delta between frunk covers in the Air was like two years, so I paid for my retrofit, since there was nothing wrong with mine; the newer ones were just much improved and stood up on their own without @Bobby's jury rigged magnet solution, heh (which worked great, but not as well as the OEM version).
