It seems there are now quite a few of us who have received a 5 seat Gravity. Has anyone established whether air comes comes out of the 3rd row HVAC vents in that configuration? Asking for my dog.

Ooh, good question!

I'm going to email my SA and ask about this. Problem is, I don't know whether I'll be able to trust any answer given. 🤷‍♂️

I am going to guess “no” because based on my unofficial testing with kids and dog, car senses people sitting in third row in order for AC to go on back there. Would love for others to test. Maybe they changed software for the five seater to make it work regardless…

Certainly could change this with software. Rivian did and I hope Lucid ends up allowing us to at least turn on/off third row from pilot screen at some point.

In my 5-seater there are no 3rd row vents in the C-pillars (did I call it correctly?). There are vents for legs under 2nd row seats but those don't seem to work. I don't have settings for 3rd row so I set 2nd row climate to full blast (with leg vents enabled) and I felt nothing from those leg vents under 2nd row seats. If anything was coming from it then it was marginal.

Well, that's extremely disappointing to hear! Eliminating rear-of-the-vehicle climate control substantially reduces how happy I am about the Gravity. It's starting to feel like Lucid thought no one would want the 5 seat configuration, and so the polish is seriously lacking.

You can’t control the third row independently in the three row Gravity either, if that makes you feel any better. Yes, people get air back there, but it’s based on one of the temps from the second row (I haven’t figured out which one, yet).

They didn't eliminate rear-of-the-vehicle climate control; that's exactly how it is with the 3-row too. You have 'front' and 'rear', not individual controls for each row.

They got rid of the vents.
Yeah, that removes the possibility of a software update enabling control of the 3rd row HVAC someday.

It's a bit odd that Lucid seems to have changed what they're delivering for 5 seat configs over the last month. I think that makes it unclear whether the design is now finalized, or more changes still to come. Personally, I think I'd prefer them to delete the 2nd row sliding track, and start providing 2nd row floor mats without the cutouts, as shown in some of their promotional material.

I’m glad I have the option to move my second row seats forward and backwards. It can provide more space in the trunk even while having passengers. Not used that much, but I have used it a couple times.

I am going to wait on the Gravity until it matures and they have better incentives later this year or next.

But when I’ve done the configuration, I was thinking just get the third row and keep it under the floor until it’s needed. Why not have that option? Is there an advantage to having a five seater that I’m not considering?

Two advantages I can think of:

1) Slightly more range
2) Slightly more storage with the under trunk area.

I am all in on a 5 seater and getting delivery in ~2 weeks. My kids are grown and I'm about to start car camping. So 5 seater works much better for me...loving the extra mileage and space. I didn't want to pay extra for the 2 seats that will never be used and kill my sub trunk space.

For me, its all about the storage. I have two dogs, and when I'm travelling with them, I want the underfloor storage for cargo, and have them above. Dogs do not make for efficient use of space. Add in that I've used the 3rd row of my current vehicle exactly once in the 7 years I've owned it, and it makes for a clear choice.

Barely.

The EPA numbers lie because it rounds, as you know. The weight of the seats does not make any real difference to range.

I might well have ordered a Dream if 5 seats had been an option. Thats how little sense the 7 seat configuration makes for me.

Well, if there aren’t vents on yours, if you have the power package, you can plug a fan in…from a design and build perspective, seems easier to leave the vents.

I bet they'll delete the sliding track eventually too. No idea why they don't just sell 7 seaters only until the 5 seat design is finalized.
