22"/23" All-season/Winter tire options?

I decided to go with the 22/23 tires. But with the delay I might need to now take the Gravity east to colder areas during winter. I can find a winter tire for the front, but nothing for the rear. Is my only option getting the smaller tires? Has anybody found any options for the largest tires?

Today at the San Jose Lucid service center opening, I was talking to the service director when another Lucid owner walked up and inquired about winter tire options for the Gravity.

It's at this point that I was shocked to find out that not only does the Gravity ship with summer tires instead of M+S (mud + snow, which, for example, my Model X came with), there are no winter / M+S / all-weather options available at all for the Gravity with the 23"/22" wheels, at least from Lucid.

The only suggestion that the service director had for me was to buy a whole set of smaller wheels with the winter-friendly tires, which is quite an expensive option, plus then I'd have to store a whole set of wheels somewhere.

If you're planning on driving the Gravity in the snow, what are going to do? Is there a set of aftermarket winter-friendly tires that would match the staggered Gravity size and load? Are we really just screwed?

It's not just from Lucid: I'm not sure there's an all season tire for the 22"/23" wheel sizes at all. Searching tirerack.com turns up nothing. Lucid plans to offer Gravity tuned winter tires options for the 20"/21" wheels. The 20"/21" and 21"/22" wheels both come with all season tires that David Lickfold claims provide good snow performance.

I am very used to buying a separate set of winter tires and wheels. I just need those to become available for the Gravity. I’d happily buy a 20/21 set.

For 20"/21" and 21"/22" wheels, there are winter tires are available for anyone unwilling to wait for Lucid's Gravity tuned winter tire options. Vredestein Wintrac Pro+ and Bridgestone Blizzak 6, maybe others.

Yes except as far as my service center told me the Lucid 20/21 wheels themselves aren’t available and no one has confirmed any after market wheels which clear our brakes.

Oh, I misunderstood. @037 posted a set of 20" wheels they purchased for the Gravity, but I'm unsure if they've been installed and proven to fit.

They are 22x9 and 22x10, I received them but unfortunately didn’t pull the trigger on the vehicle yet.

When I do it will either be Michelin All Season 4 or Continental DWS 06 in 265/40 and 285/40 sizing.

Why would you want wide snow tires?
it’s better to downsize for winter tires. You want a narrower tire which puts more pressure on the road to plough through the mud snow and ice. So using a proper snow tire in the same dimensions as the 22/23” tire isn’t a smart move.

FWIW I currently use Blizzak DMV2 on our XC90 and they are awesome in the snow. And we get a $h!t ton of snow at our ski place!

FYI, my Lucid service center said I can order the 20/21" Voyager wheels with TPMS sensors for $4374. Tire Rack has Vredestein Wintrac Pro+ tires for those wheels for $1355.42. So that's what I'm proceeding with.

I want to hear customer service's reaction when someone with tank treads installed calls up and complains about not getting the 450 EPA range!

isn't there a restriction/cost on lease returns of vehicles with aftermarket tires? also isn't lucid warranty voided with tire/rim changes to non Lucid approved tire or rims which they sell?

lease terms are that you return the car as you bought it, so has it include the original wheels but they don't have to be mounted on the car (ie. you can have after market wheels mounted plus return original). No car maker anywhere can void warranty based on after market tires, and they can't restrict warranty to OEM wheels. They can only TRY to deny warranty IF aftermarket wheels can be proven to have caused an issue. That's the actual law.

This is correct. They can certainly deny to repair any aftermarket parts, however; for example, they won’t replace your tire with a non-OEM tire.

But yeah, warranties don’t get voided “wholesale.” If they can show your aftermarket parts caused (or even exacerbated) the issue, then you’re on your own.

Wheels - O.Z.Hyper XT HLT - 20/21
Tires - Nokian Hakkapelitta R5 - 20/21
...all in the proper sizes too.

I got this off of TireRack. I dare say (having used Blizzaks for over 7 years and experienced amazing performance in the snow) the Nokian 'Hakkas are even higher rated than the Blizzaks. The wheels are backlogged until 12/05 but will ship all spun balanced with sensors, everything black, around 12/7 - just in time for the fluffy stuff. I am happy and a lot poorer.

I already purchased them. Will post some pics when they are installed. The rear Nokians are expensive.
