I did the 2.9.0 OTA this past weekend, then ran into a new issue while home charging with the Lucid Charger installed in my garage on 240V /30 AMP circuit. When I plugged into my home charger after doing the OTA update, the car would start charging for about 5 seconds, then stop. Over and over again roughly 5 times, then I'd get a red message to reattach the charging cable.. I noticed the charging would consistently stop when the charging speed hit 8kw... seemed to be fine all the way up to 8kw. After messing around with a few times, I lowered the Current Limiter from 40 AMP to down to 30, which seemed to prevent the charging speed from climbing past 7kw and hitting 8kw, where I'd get the error... Not 100% certain this is the correct fix since its now only worked 2 nights in a row, tonight will be night 3... But - seems to have solved the problem. Just wanted to share in case anyone else has experienced the same issue with home charging following the 2.9.0 updated... 2023 Air GT btw...

Power (KW) = Voltage (V) * Current (AMP). Lowering the current will lower your charging power.

Your circuit breaker has a 30 AMP limit, and that's probably why it's working fine when you limit it to 30 Amps. The car should see the limit and not let you go above 30 amps on the current limiter. I have a 40 Amp circuit breaker, and the current Limiter only allows me to go up to 40 Amps. The problem could be the breaker misrepresenting its max current or a bug with the software. With your current circuit breaker limit, you should not go over 7.2 KW charging power (240 * 30 = 7,200 Watts = 7.2KW).

EV charging needs to be derated by 20%, the most that a 30A circuit should provide to an EV is 24A. The Lucid home charger should be set up to limit the current based on the 30A circuit. I am guessing that the Lucid Hoome charger is not set correctly for the circuit. It actually sounds like a dangerous situation. Its is great that we can have the car reduce current, this is not a safe method.

Appreciate the responses guys. Good insights. I guess the most interesting part is how/why the issue started the very first time I tried to charge after the OTA update. Maybe they put some additional precautionary checks into the handshake process code..? Or maybe its something else. I will reset the current limit to 24A based on your 20% derate recommendation Adnillien. thx

I’m not sure, but you need to set the Lucid LCHCS to 24A. What you have now is an unsafe installation.

I know I mentioned having the Lucid Home Charging system in my original post. More specifically its the 40 Amp Max Lucid Mobile charging cable that came with the car - I don't believe its wifi-enabled/connected but could be wrong. So I'm running 240v/30AMP power to the 40AMP Maximum Lucid Mobile Charging Unit. The Current Limit in the car is set to 24A, is that still an unsafe installation? If so, anyone know what the right solution would be, assuming the 40 Amp Lucid Mobile Charging Unit is not configurable? Appreciate your thoughts/comments. thx

What plug are you using to plug in the 40A mobile charger. If you have the 30A plug (this needs to be purchased separately since it does not come with the charger), then you are good. If you are using a NEMA 14-50 plug and receptacle, then this is unsafe.

I'm using a 30 AMP plug from the 240V wall outlet to the 40AMP mobile charger. So hopefully all good, as you mentioned above. Appreciate your help/expertise.

That is good because the plug interfaces with the mobile charging cable and limits current to 24A. It should not matter the current is set in the car, it should not go over 24A. In your first post it seems that the current was above 24A if you were getting 7kW or 8kW. 7kW implies 29A. Hence, something is still wrong and potentially unsafe. Could you post some pictures of your setup? That would help troubleshoot it.

When you say plug I assume that’s still a Nema 14-50 plug?

There's a 15-30 to 14-50 adapter in the set up. Potential cause for the spikes to 8KW (when the current limiter was set 30A?

These adapters like you are using are dangerous since they do not limit the current to 30A or 24A. It is dangerous to have a 50A receptacle attached to a 30A circuit. That needs to go. There should only be 30A receptacles on a 30A circuit. You should use Lucid's 30A plug that @skomarla referenced:

You should get an electrician to fix your circuit and receptacle before using it again. What you have is not safe.

I’m having a slightly different charging problem. I’m using the cable that came with the car attached to a circuit with a 40A breaker. I have set the limiter in the car to 32 amps (80% derating) but the car sometimes reverts to a 40 amps limit and the breaker pops. I haven’t been in for service or changed anything in the car. Is anyone else having this kind of issue?

Yes this has happened to me when I use the mobile charger. Whenever I visit my parents, I set the limiter to 24v and it starts there fine. But when I check on the charge percentage with the app, ive noticed that it bumps up to 40 and reducing it in the app does not have any effect. I've had to go to the car and reduce it back down, and try not to check on it in the app. that seems to keep it stable at the reduced rate.

this is just anecdotal observation. i've not spent much time playing with this at all.
