Anything will work, you will need to format the drive to FAT32 or VFAT. Also the music files it supports are MP3, OGG, FLAC and WAV.

Wow! So apple lossless and/or atmos is now supported? Can you connect a phone and play music from the local files of it?

Apple Music files you purchased will work. The ones you stream via subscription will not. They have DRM protection. Can only be played on devices authorized for Apple Music.

This has nothing to do with Lucid, of course. And it makes sense. The artist wouldn’t get paid for the “stream” unless Apple could track each play.

Arent Apple Music files in AAC format? Is that supported? if you export to MP3 wouldn't you strip out Atmos?

Good question. I just installed the update, so I haven’t tested yet. But someone else told me m4a files work. Which is Apple Music’s AAC file container format. Not sure about Atmos at all. Does Apple even selll Atmos tracks? Or are they only through a subscription?

Another good question! I've had Apple Music for so long that I had to figure out how to even get to the iTunes purchase page! It looks like ATMOS is only available in Apple Music and is not for sale in iTunes.

Who still plays music from USB? Seriously? What a waste of resources. Apple Music Spacial Audio support would have much better. Tidal app in the car is pathetic

Many people have different desires and wants from you. Your attitude that the OTA is a waste because it is an improvement that you did not want is selfish.

Almost don’t! Can’t wait

I, for one, do want the ability to play audio from USB so I appreciate Lucid listening to the customers.
My update is on-going.
Happened to be in the garage at 50%. Fans came on full blast for a bit, then went off.
At 64%, they came on again and are still going.
Not a soft or hard-ware specialist, but I'm just totally amazed at the magnitude and the complexity of OTA updates.
What a momentous task for only thousands of customers, as opposed to the zillions of Microsoft or Apple!
Kudos to Lucid's software team, the unsung heroes, most of whom will never be known to the public.

Just updated this morning before a little weekend road trip. Hope that wasn’t a mistake. ;)

USB report - LOVE IT
I can report that you Apple lossless m4a files work fine.. In fact to my ears there is a satisfiyng richness in these music files that I have missed up to now in my Lucid experience. I really lobbed for this up grade. I am very happy. I swear there in more data per song to reproduce this way than what can currently be streamed to your car. The result is superior depth. Tidal at home rocks but we can't receive that sane quality our cars. I popped in my old thumb drive I had used in my previous car and it took a while to "download". The media app breaks down your files into albums , artists , genre and songs. It divided my albums into two files. It divided my songs into four groups of 500 songs each. Everything is listed alphabetically. This all is visible in the pilot panel. In the old car I was a big fan of random play but the media app does not allow for that presently. But I will tell you listening to 500 songs alphabetically is pretty random. The result was a vey happy Lucid owner.

Personally this richness the music is a lot more satisfying than spaciality effects.
You should do your own test and let me know how the music compares.

This update seems to take exactly 55 min to wake up the car as if they have a timer.

If you've got lossless files, yeah, they should sound very good in the Lucid system. Better than any of the music service apps in the car. Shame Apple won't sell you Dolby Atmos (Spatial Audio) tracks. They won't even let you buy tracks at all once you are an Apple Music subscriber.

Fortunately, I still buy digital albums from a lot of indie bands I like. So I have the ability to download hi-quality lossless files of those. Need to put a real collection together on a stick now, given we have no idea how long it will be before we get CarPlay..
