2024 Lucid Air Pure
Almost a month in my 48-month lease on a Pure, base, in rural Quebec. The temperatures are dropping to 0 degrees Celsius this week.
First off, this is an amazing car to drive, and I don't regret my decision (over a BMW i4 and Polestar 4) at all.

The good:
  • Handling, stability, cornering
  • UI Interface and Responsiveness
  • Physical buttons for temp / fan speed
  • Android app for preheating / locking / unlocking
  • Rear seat space
  • Overall Range
  • Seat comfort
  • Sales experience and price (because of residuals, promotions and interest, monthly payment ended up being quite a bit less than the aforementioned less-expensive cars)

The less good:
  • Software bugs - have lost all audio from speakers (including turn signals, etc) twice now while driving, only coming back after a hard reset
  • Both key fobs stopped working, can only use phone key now, which has me a bit nervous
  • Range is overstated and overly optimistic in the winter (but overall range makes up for it)
  • STILL no Android Auto (!!!)
  • Lack of bass on the base sound system, some rattle in rear (I know there's a fix).
  • Maps not as accurate as Google Maps, has weird suggestions.
  • Speed limit detection is very wonky
  • For some reason, parking assist keeps trying to engage while stopped in traffic
  • Privacy policy (soooooo much data being collected, processed and shared, but I guess that's the norm for all modern electric cars now).
  • Service department very finicky about tires, etc (I ended up getting my own tires and they refuse to mount / touch / etc them).
  • The car is exceptionally low. I went over a standard speed bump here, barely crawling, and *still* bottomed out. That crunch sound did not feel good.

The ugly:
  • I made the huge mistake of only getting 18k km instead of 24k km on the lease. I live in a rural area and at this rate will likely have to shell out a massive penalty at the end of the lease...

The key fobs are known to kill batteries VERY quickly! 3-4 weeks easily dead unfortunately. I bought a supply of them and actually just replaced the battery on my loaner this morning!

This is new as of 2.5.0. I suspect it’ll get fixed soon, but yeah, you’re not alone.

Swap the batteries and run them with isopropyl. They likely have bitterant coating. Apple AirTags have this issue too.

It can be done, but not in the winter. If you use the lucid nav, the “mileage on arrival” is extremely accurate. The center mileage is not.

Out of Lucid’s hands, and on its way.

  • Lack of bass on the base sound system, some rattle in rear (I know there's a fix).
Do you have 2.5.0 and the TSC applied? If not, do that.

  • Speed limit detection is very wonky
Yeah. It’s based on visual detection. I suspect soon they’ll base it on the HD mapping.

  • For some reason, parking assist keeps trying to engage while stopped in traffic
Can you take a video?

  • Privacy policy (soooooo much data being collected, processed and shared, but I guess that's the norm for all modern electric cars now).
Yup.

  • Service department very finicky about tires, etc (I ended up getting my own tires and they refuse to mount / touch / etc them).
Yeah, if it’s not OEM, they won’t touch them. It’s a heavy car.

  • The car is exceptionally low. I went over a standard speed bump here, barely crawling, and *still* bottomed out. That crunch sound did not feel good.
True. The car is meant to take those scrapes (it had a shield, like any other) but I hear you. Watch out for the rubber airfoils in the front.

I wouldn’t trade how low it is, but that’s always been true for my cars.
